I remember my dad telling me about when he and his friends drove through Ireland and walked into a bar to get the taste of Irish whisky.
So they went to have a seat, and one of the locals told them to not sit down on a certain chair. That chair was Rory's chair when he used to come there. And they said nothing had been the same since he passed away.
@OpulenceOfGrey , If its possible, it sounds like a pub worth a visit, we all know Rory enjoyed a drink and a good sing song!!, if you ever find out, ..even take a visit yourself man?, all the best!
Thank you for putting this together. It is one of my favorite Rory tunes. It shows his true nature as a Gemini. He could play and write this sort of song and he could tear the stage apart in his "wild man" mode.
@aussieangie Thanks, I figured this out by actually paying attention to what I was reading, lol. On my facebook page, under the name James Stone, birthdate 4/24/50, I wrote somewhat extensively of the danger presented to the male Pisces. I have an astrologer friend who said it was "the worst thing that could happen to a man astrologically. I make the case that Rory's "container" was his music and I present a UTube video in which he really pushes the limits of that container. It's Shadowplay.
This clip seems very poignant to me -seeing him and fllow bandmates just playing like children and enjoying life when life was so simple,,We miss you, Rory.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to slant the truth and blame the doctors who gave him a second chance. I just didn't want to sound like some wee nyaff who doesn't know anything about Gallagher coming up and lambasting him for his lifestyle, because I can imagine that would sound ignorant.
I was recently let down and have been listening to nothing but Rory ever since... Rory was a beautiful man who made beautiful music, a true "peoples musician". There's not one song he's written where I cannot feel the passion and emotion put into it, listening to him simply makes me happy, he was a genuine, talented man who deserves more respect than he is given at the moment.
This is such a Beautiful song! I had never heard this song before until i bought the DVD called Ghost Blues the story of Rory Gallagher 2010 and part of this song was played during the closeing credits on the first documentary disk. I've just bought the Album! Loveeeeeeeeeee Rory so much! He was just the Greatest in my eyes along with Gary moore!
Absolutely lovely piece of footage. It is heartwarming at the sane time as very sad, but I console myself when I consider how much Rory loved being on the road and at this point in time, on this footage, one can see just how happy he could be - great posting ..
I saw Rory play at a Saturdaynight in Rotterdam in 1974 in De Doelen. Due to the oilcrisis, we had mandatory car free Sundays. They played until the first train left on that sundaymorning. No need to say the train home (a 2 hours travel) was packed with people singing Rory's songs, sharing drinks and having a great time. Experience of a lifetime.....
Today (June 14, 2010) it is 15 years that you left us, but you live on in your music and in the hearts of your fans. Thanks for being part of my life, Rory !
there's some serious tears in my eyes! Spellbinding! in fact the first time i heard it was late one night camping at roryfest at a point of the night where i wasn't sure if i was really hearing something so gorgeous or was i imagining it!
Thanks so much, You did a fantastic job with the video. This is one of my favourite songs ever. "Don't leave me standing in this empty space"... so powerful.
Every now and than I visit this video and every time I do I realise why he touches my soul with so many of his songs.....

Life killed Rory.
Living your passion is really dangerous as soon as you live it for more than one 100 per cent.
Rory lived this way ...

I wrote of a song
That I just cannot do
But as long as there's life
Some one will always love you
It's my turn right now, so
It must, just be true.
