elons concern about climate is not well founded. rising temperature has always resulted in more life, more food, more weath. Any change always has positives and negatives but temperatures have been rising for centuries and millenia and it has gone down at various times. Life has gotten richer, more prolific with every rise. Why the next 5 degrees would result in disaster is not well thought out. i totally agree though that everything else said is amazing
@johnmathon100 not worried about the planet. the planet is and will be fine - the question just is that we might not be. 99.9% of all life that ever was is now extinct... just be capitalist and or selfish about it n preserve the environment thats most serving to us lol
I hope that the rest of the world does well enough that by 2030 the united states is not the only dominant country in the world!! You have to realize that the only reason the us has the reserve currency is because other countries have done SO POORLY. It is a travesty that other countries are SO bad at running their economies and so incompetent that they have been left in the dust for so long. Now they have the example. All they have to do is copy us.
What would happen, or how likely is it that the US dollar will lose its status as the world's reserve currency by the year 2025-2030? How would the US go about bringing itself out of debt and staying above communist China?
I'm worried. The united states is the only country in the world where this can happen. Over here in Australia, we don't have the population or resources to create a private space business, the US is the only capitalist nation on Earth where this can happen. But with the way the economy is going over there, its not that unlikely that the US dollar will lose its rank as the world's reserve currency. If that happens, this will be history. I hop it doesn't happen, we need america. we need spacex.
Why does the interviewer keep "getting back to climate change"? I want to hear about space and going to Mars - but no, even heroes like Elon & Peter have to bow down, and pay their tithe to the church.
This is significant. It is no longer a debate society. Governments were the sole proprietors of space travel. Now, space is getting to a point of viable returns. And as technology improves and costs go down, people could opt for space station living and travelling to other places beyond Earth is beyond words. I'd love to be able to see the solar system... a tetra watt plasma drive with a 25 story biosphere. a flying castle that could reach anywhere... that's a dream I'd love to live.
You don't have to "believe" in life in space... Mars has methane in the atmosphere surrounding places where we know there is water. That is evidence of life, seeing as 97% of the methane on Earth is biogenic. Just because we haven't dug them up doesn't mean we don't know they are there.
@DrMu5tCh3at2W1n There is so little gravity that your body would begin to break down without significant nanotechnological accomplishments. The Moon also has very little water (regolith is about as watery as cement). It has zero atmosphere, and no natural capacity to hold an artificial atmosphere. It does not have many heavy metals.
Mars is a planet. It has a complex geological history, running water, and it almost certainly still has life -we've found the methane, yet to find the microbe
@Craigipedia you don't have to stay on the Moon for years. There are enough projects that make establishing a close connection to the Moon useful. Mars is also too far. A message to Mars will several minutes which could be vital in an emergency situation. I say, set aside Mars for better technology and a better economy.
A russian first design the kerosene, liquid oxygen heavy lift rocket in 1925, in 1936 it became a reality, the patet archieves are filled with the blueprints of successful rocket science in this early era, until solid fuel took its place. The reason our administration funds these ventures and removes NASA's decades old plans for exploring the universe, and the lower earth orbit where the wars will be won are lost, to me is an act of irresponsibility, as time will reveal

Their first attempt to privatize space exploration, and plan to get hundreds of billions from NASA's budget into the hands of an associate of pay pal, not the innovator is strange, as is elon, along with the bankrutcy scheme Tesla, and a makeover of apolo, has a strange smell. I hope everybody has seen the evidence that the Apollo moon missions were faked in a studio. There's a partial summary of the evidence posted on a science forum. To see it, google "The Naked Scientists". In the "New Theories" section of the forum there's a thread entitled "Did We Land on the Moon?". It's on page 15. It's the 7th post from the top.

Peter Diamandis says that "we don't have the resources we need to bring everyone in the planet up to the standards of living that we have here in America...." say that to all the people starving to death and dying due to lack of water. Oh wait, yeah because 20% of the population does need 80% of the world's resources... yeah that makes total sense...
Ive got one for you. Continually expanding human population is the Earth's second worst enemy. Other than asteroid impact but that's another issue. The best things humans could do for Earth is to start moving our new additional human population off-Earth along with samples of the other life that calls Earth home to locations elsewhere.
Then we should start treating and protecting Earth like the precious island of life that it is. At the moment life itself has all its eggs in one basket, and that basket is the Earth,a tiny and vulnerable home in a vast universe.
That's never going to happen, there are too many humans on this earth that cant get over the evolutionary trait that is called greed, so our best option is to leave all those people behind and start a new life.
I didn't mean make all the humans here leave, just as many as can be convinced to. There is far more things to greed after in space, or there will be.
@sirachman i was thinking yesterday, if there is such a big resource crisis then the number one aim all governments strive for should be the exploration and colonization of space where we can find so much more fuel of all sorts.
