Thank u for the video. I think this is an excellent idea, although, while practical, this may lead to breakage for my 4z hair b/c my hair is completely unmanagable dry. It appears your texture has a curl pattern and naturally separates, expecially considering how u ran your fingers through your roots after it had dried a bit. My fingers would totally get stuck in my semi-dry "brillo pad." Still trying to understand my my texture is unmanagable dry, despite the fact that it's detangled.
I also find that if you just shake [your hair out in] the shower and generously apply leave in conditioner, it stops dripping then and there. Maybe my hair is different, though it does look like we have similar textures.
The trick is to allow it to get about 80% dry to where it's a bit damp but not soaking wet, then add product. But if that still doesn't help, then it may just not work :)
Thank you for sharing this technique! I did this Saturday night, I didn't get to do the second step until the next day because I put a heavy leave-in on. But the real bonus was that it help to really stretch my hair which is a huge thing-caused me to wear wigs the last 5 months. Now I am going to try the curly fro.
I do something similar. The problem with me is my hair is very thick (if you've seen herflyness, that's kinda what my hair is like). It takes HOURS to dry, even when I separate it like this. And I dare not let it just dry as an afro. It will be a hot, tangled MESS!
I would love to try this but my texture is tighter than yours, and that combined with serious shrinkage and light product use could make for some challenging styling. I'm guessing that, rather than have equal amounts of time in twists and out of twists, I'd have to stay in twists longer...so instead of half-and-half, maybe more like 2/3-1/3 or 3/4-1/4. Either way, if this cuts my drying time down from 6 hours, I'll definitely wash more often. Thanks!

This is a great tip. I will definitely use this for the winter to avoid sleeping with a wet head.
