  • LOVE the bass tone on the intro...just the right growl to it.

  • I think it's safe to say I'mma true Rush fan.

I appreciate all their albums and songs.

Some songs I may not like per say,but I still appreciate it.

No band will ever be as good as Rush.

Every timeline for Rush makes for a unique album.

They are not afraid to experiment with different types of sounds/music,which is why they are so unique and appreciated by many.

  • If you say you only like Rush from 1974-1981, 1982-1987, 1989-1996, 2002-present or any other specific time period, don't bother calling yourself a Rush fan. Sure, you don't have to like every single song of them like I do, but at least be able to apprietiate all of their work before calling yourself a fan.

  • @MrLizardKing96 I hear ya brother.. true fans will be true fans. As for the rest, well, there are some who have their reasons for not liking certain periods. I can't hold their opinion against them, some actually just 'grow out of it' ~ if you can call it that ~ more like they prefer to stay in the past and aren't interested anymore even though Rush has refined their craft over the years and stayed current. Sure, some albums might have been lac-luster but they've always rebounded back...

  • @MrLizardKing96 ...they've always rebounded back to surprise me with something original and brilliant. Very few other bands can claim that rare gift of tenacity over so many years.

  • @SomeProudCanadian I know exactly what you mean. I for one like all of their periods because I already did like all the kinds of music they played, like the 70s hard rock sound, the 80s synth sound and so on. I liked them all but I can understand why some people don't like certain Rush periods. I just don't like it too much when someone who only listens to maybe 3 or 4 of their albums and calls themself a huge Rush fan.

  • There is no Rush only in the 70's, 80's, 90's and now. Rush is the sum of all these periods. I take Rush as a whole.

  • sweet rush of life

  • Hah, hah. I decided rather to not wait, I uploaded the 'Test for Echo' remaster I was talking about, "Carve Away The Stone." It's a major step up in quality from what people already know. (Dynamic range wise and dynamic compression wise...which turned into dynamic expansion.)

  • Gigeddy Gigeddy Gigeddy ;)

  • @BeastmodeFilms Family Guy reference?

    more like...

Geddy Lee Geddy Lee Geddy Lee! ;)

  • What a great song! I think you have to read Ghost Rider to get a true feeling of what he was thinking when these songs came together. I was not a huge fan of the album until after reading it, now it reigns as a triumphant return to grace...

  • @natural2112science There's alot of great moments on this album, just a shame that it was so poorly produced. Thanks for the Ghost Rider tip, I will place it on my ever growing list of things to read.

  • @SomeProudCanadian You want a super song that could kill mere mortals listen to how it is from this album,I just got this album two days ago and that is my favorite song on the album....

  • You ever check out the 'Secret Touch [Remaster]' yet that I did? ~ LightningCat315

  • @RadeonZero Yep, quite good! You can actually hear what is happening rather than just a wall of irritating noise. Good job. Weird, I did not see this when I posted my comment on your site. Anyway, hope you check out my vids! cheers.

  • @SomeProudCanadian Hah. Thanks. And if you got some more I'll check them out, otherwise all you have up is 'Sweet Miracle' so far. And you may want to update the annotation to RadeonZero now rather than my old channel, LightningCat315.

  • @RadeonZero No I think you missed my point.. I have another channel called "sirGiedion". That's where my other videos are. This channel is strictly my Canadian music tastes. Come to think of it, I should have posted my last vid here since they are Canadian... oh well, nobody's perfect ;)

  • Hey, stumbled upon something with this song...From about 2:01 - 2:39 Geddy had used a keyboard. And you probably noticed this but there is useage of a acoustic guitar in this song. (I believe I told you this already but for anyone else, now they know as well.)

  • @LightningCat315 Probably explains the full rounded out sound at this point - which is characteristic of a lot of their songs. Since day 1, I've always been amazed only a 3-member band could produce such rich tapestry of sound.

  • sweet melody and percussion from a great band...

  • Rush has always put out incredible music. What set's them apart is... well, them.

Class act. There is something to be said for that.

    And they're the damn best!

  • @clarionflyer Yeah they are in a class all their own.. I don't think there has been another trio that has ever come close to their ingenuity, dedication and longevity. May they continue to make thrilling music for years to come!

  • You just touched the surface of what I can do, and when I mean surface about one atom down. But still you did good my friend. I'll post my version later, sorry to "dis" when I don't even have something up. I'll have it up in about a week or two, it takes me awhile to do a complete mix. Thanks for showing me other people out there do care about mixes as well.

  • @LightningCat315 I wish I could claim this recording for myself, but once I heard it, I knew it had to be put out there to do a great album justice. The remixes on your site, will they be available for download anywhere sometime soon? Because I must say, they are fantastic. Keep up the great work!

  • @LightningCat315 hey bud, check out my video again. i've embedded an honorary link to your site.. wouldn't mind if you did the same on yours to help spread the fine works of Rush! But no big deal if you choose not to, just thought it'd be cool...

  • @SomeProudCanadian Thanks! I appreciate it much! So yeah, its no big deal you did this. And those remixes were from the "Retrospective III" album Rush released. And yes those remixes were done by Richard Chycki and are avaliable for download and if you see the "Retrospective III" CD/DVD combo (or just CD), its worth it. And coming at you guys soon is a proper remix of THIS song that I will be doing. I love the fact that I can hear a piano on the solo and acoustic guitars.

  • @LightningCat315 Cool, looking forward to it, and thanks for the info!

  • @SomeProudCanadian Woops...I read that wrong the first time...Alright, I'm going to be starting up a new YouTube account soon...(and closing this account). I'll upload all my current videos again, (and some more). I'll let you know in your comments on your page that I'll have started the new account. So, check with you soon on the new one.

  • @SomeProudCanadian Hey. Up with my new account. I'm going to be putting up a remix that I did of 'Secret Touch'. (It'll blow the 'Out of the Cradle [Remaster]' out of the water!). Well, thought I'd let you know, so that you can update the annotations in this vid. ~ Aka - LightningCat315 (And I have a link to your channel up on my new one).

  • I remember when i bought Vapor Trails it was the last album i ever bought, I even had Snakes and Arrows and SAA live before. Anyways i didn't know the story before the making of this and it was a touching and emotional album and now i know they story and its my favorite album because i understand it even more. 5/5 album.

  • Thanks for posting this gem, sir.

    From Canada, with love

    RUSH - Canada's Greatest Export

  • @visionmaster153 My pleasure... I have since added a link in the video if you want to check it out (the second one in green). It will take you to Jacob Moon's cover of Subdivision.. it may interest you to know he's a born again as well. cheers.

  • As for what genre of music is Rush, Rush is the answer. Stop trying to class them as progressive rock, metal, hard rock, etc. just except that they have evolved beyond mere mortal genres, and as such, their genre of music is themselves, Rush.

  • @Just1Micky Spoken like a true Rush fan. Long live Rush!!!

  • Consequently, whether an album is underrated or not is a null point, as the people buying it will have expectations of the genre of music to which the album should be, rather than an appreciation for the material within it. In all honesty, all of the albums of Rush that I have heard I love, Vapour Trails may be heavier than Power Windows, but they still work on an internal level as pieces of music by Rush.

  • The problem with fans of Rush, is that they generally aren't. Most people who like Rush tend to like periods of Rush's musical history. They generally like their earlier work, their synthesised work, or their modern work, but seldom do they appreciate it all. Only when you can see the Rushness so-to-speak in all of it will you be a true fan. I personally like all of their work, because whilst the genre of music varies slightly, it's all distinctively the Rush that I know and love.

  • @Just1Micky You raise some awesome points. I know exactly what you mean. I admit I was a victim of this as well for a while in the 90s. But I'm privileged to be rediscovering them for a second time. Both their early 70s and 80s period will forever be close to me though. Having experienced their progression through their different phases since childhood, I felt I understood what they were doing all along. Then I got distracted... but i'm all better now ;o)

  • This song means so much to me with the loss of my mom. Thank you for recording it.

  • @highway50films wow, i'm so honoured to have touched someone in this way. you are so welcome.. but i must correct you in one thing... i didn't record this masterpiece, i only posted it ;) but i know what u meant.. much peace to your mom, take care.

  • Interesting comments..yes the mix is not quite to my taste BUT this is a very strong album and the songs transcend the mix if you understand me...

  • @GalfRendun yesss totally good citizen.. I understand you 100%

  • I think the mix along with the heavy audio compression was intentional for effect, a gritty, punch in the gut.

  • @gnosis2012 I sure as heck like it.... imagine it remastered!!!!

  • FUCK YEAH!

  • This should have won Album of the Year...period!

  • This is Robert Nix Rock/Pop Artist and I have many Rush albums in my collection including 'Vapor Trails',Rush kind of transcend the entire progressive rock genre that they're in, it's almost a spiritual thing to hear their tracks.

  • @onthemoveagain I AGREE 100 %

  • one of my favorites by Rush, EXTREMELY UNDERRATED.

  • this song is just perfect

    love at first hearing

  • @HeltoSkelto yep, they still have the ability to surprise me.. after so many years.

  • I've been reading about 'Vapor Trails' in amazon comments, everyone agrees the mix is very poor, but most love the material .... is this a good representation of the sound? I am using decent headphones .... it's not that bad

  • @toprobone yes, and these are just mp3 quality.. the sound is fine compared to the usual that is out there. But by typical Rush standards though, their production is usually beyond stellar with a crystal clear 'crispness' to it, which might be a bit lacking here. But that's the 'audiophile' in me talking.. we always find something to complain about! ;)

  • @SomeProudCanadian No dude your right, the mixing job on this entire album was terrible but the album itself is soooo good. I wish they would remix the entire album. I always wonder why the lads let it go through like this? This is the only album i have to adjust my EQ on, or it would blow the windows out low end wise.Tis the very reason why I shelled out bucks on a good system is to hear that "crispness". Anyways greets from Toronto Area.

  • @dinglenutzz alex lifeson is going to remix vapor trails after uk leg of time machine tour info from planet rock uk

  • @hastiebar Good to know! Looking forward to it.. Thanks!!

  • @dinglenutzz thanks for the tune SPC

  • Dude i love this song The bassline is great i hate how this album is SO underrated

  • @Dthorn912 Just you wait, Clockwork Angels is just around the corner... with songs like Caravan, it promises much more wicked bass to come!

  • @Dthorn912 Well, their latest album is guaranteed to be stellar.. so I hope 'underrated' will a thing of the past.

  • @sirGiedion Them there are fine words indeed... the latest songs ROOOCCCCKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Dthorn912 Underrated? their fan base is probably as huge as ever. We don't have to tout how good they are, cuz we just know it. It's like preaching to the converted.. it may be a bit quiet out there, but we're listening.. the rest? they just don't know what they're missing.. fine with me, it's our 'secret'.. their loss not mine (and yours).

  • @SomeProudCanadian Well i say the album is overrated because honestly all I see is negative reviews of it from Rush fans along with a lot of their new stuff saying "its not Rush" and "too heavy" I say bull crap i say that they are adapting to the times and playing whatever they damn well feel like playin

  • Man, I can't stop playing 2:00 where that OHHHOOOHH-ing begins. Vapor Trails is definetely the most underrated Rush album.

  • Como Rush no saco un video por este INBREIBLE tema

  • I really liked this album, it just had a rawness to it. From my understanding, mostly was recorded on a Mac laptop by the band themselves. Takes alot of courage to come back and play on this album like Neil did. If anyone hasn't read the "Ghost Rider" book from Neil, I really suggest giving it a read. It's a pretty good book.

  • @Deetroiter Thanks for the tip.. I have not had the chance to read it yet, but will do when I have a spare moment, which are few and far between lately! cheers mate.

  • @Deetroiter I highly recommend it, as well as "Roadshow" and "Traveling Music." Amazing author as well as musician and person. "Roadshow" is an awesome look into the R30 tour from a motorcycle.

  • So glad you posted this...I have been looking for this song on You Tube forever!!!

  • @vickiybull You're most welcome ;)

  • this song is like prayer....

  • i agree.. a song of trial and tribulation and finally redemption. I think it reflects what the drummer Neil Peart had to endure in his life ~ the loss of his first daughter and wife, and now he's blessed with a new wife and daughter.. and hence a new life.
