@SuperFunHobby There's nothing ruined..It's just an experiment...besides Literally $17 will put this heli back to stock...This man is a professional at this trade...watch his other Vids, maybe you'll agree
I love this heli, but it's so hard to fly, you've done very good job of taming it with your mod.not sure i'm ready for this radical make over just yet. great vid though
I can relate on the pitch rods coming off it happens a lot on mine from crashing or wear, but I have never had one break. My mods are a thicker and longer tail boom, rubber bushings on the swash, a screw all the way through the head & main shaft and hex screws with nuts on the grips. It's amazing you were able to modify it like that and fly it but then where is the fun of flying it like it's meant to be? Anyway, nice work your obviously a smart guy but I think I will keep mine fast and stable!
What u say about a heli haveing problems 1 outta 10 flights is toatally true.....10th flight on my trex 250..never crashed never touched blades on ground..checked everything after every flight..it Exploded on spool up ... Time to dust off my planes while i wait for parts lol
Shut up And deal with your erectile disfunction. when you earn a physics degree too, maybe you will read my comment right. deal with your own fucking life.
Are you kidding me? you are THE WORST stock 3d helicopter flyer I have ever seen in my life! If it's too hard for you to see( & therefor fly) Give It to someone ( Maybe your grandson or something...) Who could actually use it for something instead of chopping it into crap and trying to fly.
Watched the whole video, I'm very impressed by your knowledge and experiments. It's simple to understand why a counter-balance works to make a single-bladed heli, and more people have been doing it these days, but I'm totally mind-boggled about how that heli is flying without a rail rotor, that's something I haven't seen others do. You really take the unthinkable a step further than anyone else I've seen. Really though, how can a single-rotor heli maintain it's heading hold without a tail rotor?
My apologies for the ignorance, but how does this not spin out of control without a tail rotor? I'm sure you've been asked this before but I couldn't find where.
Thanks for the video. Pretty cool little mods you have going on there.
But touting that yours is the only one like it is just as bad, if not worse, from an egotistical standpoint, as those guys going out and buying products as they hit the shelves, just to get an early review up.
Thankyou a thousand times I'm very happy to have found your channel. I'm 35 yrs and brand new in the heli rc world and truley value your experience. There are so many you tube channeIs that are filled with promo hype.Glad to see you are not. I dont want to bother you to much with a bunch of questions but If you can recomend a heli thats in the $100-$200 hundred range thats fully set up with good parts suport and a good heli rc forum as well, I will be greatly apreciative. Thankyou, George
@aronisink1 I'm no expert, at all but I was also interested in a good solid heli that was going to have easily accessible parts, made for beginners, and able to take some crashes. The Honey bee V2 kept coming up! it comes with a flight sim, its made for beginners (says so on the box) and its 4-ch meaning its not easy to fly but your won't get bored with it like you would with a 3-ch its well within your price range but from what I have read you should stock up on parts.
Sorry to sound a bit negative in this thread. I am just wondering what the point is of buying a 3D helicopter and turning into something that you can do with a 2 channel? Sorry but if I am going to shell out the money for a 3D heli I want to fly 3D. If I wanted to fly one like you do I would buy a cheaper helicopter. I do own a Blade mCPx.
Dave, you are amazing! I wish I could have the chance to fly with you. I'm still a novice, been flying for about a year now, but I love my mCPX. I can't wait for Horizon to put out a brushless model. I know I can do it myself but buying it BNF is much easier.
Can't wait for warmer weather so I can fly my Blade 450, which is an awsome heli.
In all honesty you are the one who taught me how to fly a CP heli just from watching your vids. The training stand helped my a great deal. Thanks again.
Crazy mod dave, hey i,m stuck as to what mcpx size heli to buy.Walkera has a couple belt drive tails i was thinking of buying not sure if my DX6i will bind to them.
Dave, the mCPx can fly great inverted using the stockversion. Its just the tailexpo has to be set to 125% on the DX6i, you can get an extended tailboom but you dont need it.
Collective management is very tricky on this little machine, thats why you have to be gentle using pos and neg-pitch when trying to do a flip or hover inverted.
It's using a software based FBL-system and sometimes it doesnt react like it should according to experience.
Looking forward to seeing the stunt video. i have an axe cp with a bad 3n1 board, been thinking of converting it to no tail like this but was not sure if it could be done on a cp heli or not. now i know it can.
Great video! I really appreciate all the information you put out there. I'm fairly new to this, and don't understand how your birds fly (steer) with no tail rotor. I get that the gyro should hold the heading, but how do you steer without rudder control?
You are the calmest pilot. Your videos are unmatched, and we appreciate how you share your know-how and finesse with us. I work a twelve hour shift through the night, so my practice time is limited. Currently enjoying a Blade 400 and T Rex 100 (I am so glad the T Rex 100 doesn't throw pitch rods, just batteries.....which I painted, also!), Thanks again for your input here.
You do not really need to increase the length of the tail boom, the new tail blades they are selling really does help the 'blow outs' the tail was having.
I'm always impressed with your ideas and talent! I know I've been away for awhile but seeing this makes my life so much less stressful and worth living. Thanks Dave because it means alot to me... Thank you!
Just so you know, I had the same problem when I got the MCPx. I later found out that I was using too much pitch when flipping and made the head speed slow down to a point where the tail couldn't react fast enough to counter the slowing head speed. I learned that I just had to conserve my head speed while doing 3d.
just one question, doesn't it defeat the purpose of the mcpx to take the tail rotor off because you cant fly 3d but are you saying then that its more fun to fly modded than like an msr or an mcx?
Like i said 3 years ago on you tube, you are my Idol and a legend in your kind. I wish I had your knowledge and know how. I check daily to get schooled in rc by you! but here is the upgrades i bought the other day and let me tell you it makes a ton of difference 3d is still not gonna happen yet i mite try no tail mod like u did.

So your mCPX was too difficult to fly 3D so you proceeded to chop half of it off to not fly it 3d?
Lesson learned here - This is what awaits me after 50 years flying: the inability to remember the purpose of the idle-up switch.

I'm sorry but I don't see the point? Why wouldn't you want a regular heli that has rudder control? The real ones have tail rotors.
