  • Why have I only discovered this gem now?

  • Great song !

  • Steevie Ray Vaughn rock ;P

  • What a classic song!.Havnt heard it in years...The old rebel songs have always sounded the best...Saor Uladh.

  • haha gotta love those ole mausers from the Howth landing. I bet the Tommies learned to fear the sound of those rifles

  • Incredible!

Can anybody tell me where I can get digital Versions of "Step it out Mary", "Sam Hall", "The early Morning Rain" and "Red haired Mary" by Danny Doyle?

    Thanks

    BGMnullsieben

  • Not sure I've heard any of these by Danny. Paddy Reilly does an excellent version of Step it out Mary with the Dubliners and the Clancy bros do a great version of Red Haired Mary on their 1984 reunion concert in Belfast. Flying Column do a good version of Sam Hall.

  • my favorite version..Doyle is brilliant

  • tiocfaidh ar la

  • yes a great tour

  • The Asgard now resides in the yard of Kilmainham Jail in Dublin. I highly recommend the guided tour of Kilmainham Jail when on a visit to Dublin, absolutely amazing!

  • the asgard,, childers the captin .the freestaters shot him in 1922,he was anti treaty, caught wit a gun given 2 him by micheal collins,he is 1 of the 77 ira men executed by the staters,

  • what was the name of the boat that landed the guns? without looking it up.

  • One of the great songs and greatest versions of this song....Danny Doyle, what a singer!

  • Howth is a small port where guns were landed for the Irish Volunteers before the Easter Rising. The song is meant to be from the point of view of one of the men who had a gun landed there.

  • Brilliant, I dont know much else to say, but this is one of the greatest songs ive heard in a long while.

  • A great oul rattler, thanks for posting.

  • this brings back the memories, i had this song years ago, still love it.
