  • is it possible that someone doesn't try to one up someone by referring back to the past- fuck!

  • This rocks

    Much better than Kenny Gorelick

  • @coolkid7006 how you came to this???? what do they have in common? to be honest: nothing. they both play an instrument which is called "saxophone" but they are as different in their style as it could possibly be.

p.s. another thing they have in common is their first name. but thats it.

  • @ChristianGastl well yeah the whole point is that they share Kenny G, im saying that kenny garret is a better player, and he doesn't play shitty pop.

  • que loquera, no me gusta

  • Kenny Garrett (diverso individuo)

  • nah

    Kenny G = Kenneth Gorelick

este es Kenny Garrett, dos personas diferente

    hope i said that right...

  • Kenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jamire, hell yeah

  • whos on drums???

  • jamire killin it

  • son, you dont forget bird, and he has likewise not forgotten bird. everything you learn is a bit of the foundation on which you play and he has shown that he has learned bird and respects his concept.

  • Chief Blackwater?

I saw this group a couple of times at Yoshis in 2006, Jamire Williams (drums) and Kenny Garrett work so well off of each other.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Jawdropping!!!

  • Yeah, you definitly 4got bird

  • Cannonball, Phil Woods, and Kenny Garret are the best alto players ever.

  • indeed gods but aren´t you forgetting Bird, biggest of them all?

  • seconded

  • your name is mr. bird, and out of all the people you omit...

  • ya i was gonna say! lol

  • The real Kenny G!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!!!!

  • Funndamentals on the bass is tight!!!!!!!!!!!

  • who is the drummer

  • Jamire Williams

  • kenny & jamire:hip-hop

  • If you don't know about Miguel Zenon, look for his music, you will remember this message.

  • I want to see Kenny Garrett head-to-head with Chris Potter. They're the current top two alto players in my book.

  • wow i must pissed myself if i was there. lol. never heard somn like this since J.coltrane

  • does anyone know who is on piano? i saw this group in oakland and they blew me away

  • For my money the greatest saxophonist in this modern era worthy of joining the list with Bird,Trane, Rollings,Hawkins,Pres,Webster, and Cannonball . Henderson etc

  • I agree, but don't forget about Bobby Watson!

  • I'm right there with you. I go on a Kenny kick every year or so, and each time it just gets deeper, more profound, and more inspiring. My list would also include Wayne Shorter

  • True man. While we're on he subject what's happened to Ralph Moore one of my other favourites?

  • I only ever see Ralph on the Tonight Show band. Which he's on nearly every night of the week. Sometimes he performs with Cedar

  • Thanks man.a real shame as he is a true original and one of the tenor giants of his generation, but you can't turn down regular work!

  • Ralph Moore is one of my favorites too! Do you have the Freddie Hubbard album Bolivia? Ralph is killin' on that. I also love his stuff with Eastern Rebellion. They never let him blow in on the Tonight Show, at least they never show it on TV. It's the Kevin Eubanks show! But Marvin 'Smitty' Smith plays drums in that band too. It's a filthy band!

  • No but will check it out asap. Thanks man

  • He's just trane on the alto thats it

  • Kenny Garrett is a beast!!!!!

  • He played at my school about a month ago and was amazing. His drummer chipped part of the metal off the high hat symbal, broke the pedal and somehow broke the back of the bass drum even though he was hitting it from the front.

  • What school?

  • New School in Manhattan. Parson's School of Design is one of it's four colleges. They have a good jazz program.

  • is that drummer the kid from new school?

  • jamire williams, a straight killa

  • By the way,

also the drummer is playing so F*^^%%## smooth and his technique is outstanding. So much energy.

    Greetz

    vinnievibes

  • one of the rare players that appear to think in all 12 scales...

  • ALL 12!?!? are you mad

  • I WAS THEREEEEEEEEEEE, WIEHAAAA!!!

INCREDIBLE. BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE EVENING....

Do you have more of this typical concert???

  • this is called 'beyond the wall' from his latest album not chief blackwater, i saw him at Ronnie Scotts last thrusday and it was awesome

  • Progressions don't sound like Beyond the wall....plus this was posted before his new CD came out.

  • ya its not beyond the wall

its on his cd...language..i forgot the full name. but he is make hand signs on the front and back of it.

  • the cd is called Standard of Language.

  • one bad dude

  • Saw him in New York. He is great!

  • the real Kenny! not that Gorelick faker

  • i saw these guys at ronnie scotts in london. great gig. and yes, kenny G = not jazz and rubbish. Kenny Garrett = great.

  • I saw this live last summer, it indeed is Kenny Garrett, not Kenny G. The title of the song is Chief Blackwater and it went on like this for 20 minutes. Great concert.

  • great concert!!

  • Is Kenny Garrett really Kenny G?

    I really like Jazzy music.

  • no thats mike garret , kenny Phillips, branfort redman or michael masalis ok?

  • that is definatly kenny garret!

  • why is there any confusion? just listen to the sax player....it's kenny garrett....no question....

  • he sure moves like kenny

  • well it sure sounds like kenny.... lol

  • it's benito gonzalez on piano, kristopher Funn on bass and Jamire Williams on drums, all very talented and impressive.

  • Awesome. Yea, Im pretty sure I saw this group live at the Reno Jazz Festival a couple years ago. They were on fire!

  • you must be from dc if you know those cats..they are amazing!!

  • Kenny is my favorite alto player on the scene now, bought his new record last night.

  • how is it, i really want him to put some live stuff out, i feel that is where it's at.

  • Who are the players in this quartet?

  • That's for sure Kenny Garrett. I'm pretty sure they are playing Chief Blackwater. I saw this same group play about a month ago. It was killer. Thanks for posting this John.

  • where did you see them?

  • Yoshi's in Oakland, CA. It was only $10 a ticket.

  • lol thats not kenny. he looks like Maceo Parker

  • --ummm.. it's kenny.
