@coolkid7006 how you came to this???? what do they have in common? to be honest: nothing. they both play an instrument which is called "saxophone" but they are as different in their style as it could possibly be.
p.s. another thing they have in common is their first name. but thats it.
son, you dont forget bird, and he has likewise not forgotten bird. everything you learn is a bit of the foundation on which you play and he has shown that he has learned bird and respects his concept.
For my money the greatest saxophonist in this modern era worthy of joining the list with Bird,Trane, Rollings,Hawkins,Pres,Webster, and Cannonball . Henderson etc
I'm right there with you. I go on a Kenny kick every year or so, and each time it just gets deeper, more profound, and more inspiring. My list would also include Wayne Shorter
Ralph Moore is one of my favorites too! Do you have the Freddie Hubbard album Bolivia? Ralph is killin' on that. I also love his stuff with Eastern Rebellion. They never let him blow in on the Tonight Show, at least they never show it on TV. It's the Kevin Eubanks show! But Marvin 'Smitty' Smith plays drums in that band too. It's a filthy band!
He played at my school about a month ago and was amazing. His drummer chipped part of the metal off the high hat symbal, broke the pedal and somehow broke the back of the bass drum even though he was hitting it from the front.
I saw this live last summer, it indeed is Kenny Garrett, not Kenny G. The title of the song is Chief Blackwater and it went on like this for 20 minutes. Great concert.
That's for sure Kenny Garrett. I'm pretty sure they are playing Chief Blackwater. I saw this same group play about a month ago. It was killer. Thanks for posting this John.
is it possible that someone doesn't try to one up someone by referring back to the past- fuck!

@ChristianGastl well yeah the whole point is that they share Kenny G, im saying that kenny garret is a better player, and he doesn't play shitty pop.
