While the evidence may not establish Dan Brown thesis, there certainly is "evidence" supporting it. As an old trial attorney, I understand that using the same evidence Dr. Gasque cites to refute Brown's thesis, one could persuasively support most, if not all, of Brown's claims. I have read The DaVinci code in fact its one of my fave books and films......some might say im sad but so what? I believe its no more than a good thriller/piece of fiction, very entertaining, if there was a living bloodline of Christ today I think we would have discovered it by now or if there were any hidden treasures or holy cups. I just laugh at these so called academics who think they know it all but have not even bothred to read the book of which they so freely critisize, pathetic.

This could have been a very interesting video if the preacher were just a little bit objective, and if he had some understanding of the concept of "evidence". While the evidence may not establish Dan Brown thesis, there certainly is "evidence" supporting it. As an old trial attorney, I understand that using the same evidence Dr. Gasque cites to refute Brown's thesis, one could persuasively support most, if not all, of Brown's claims. This is just which theology one already believes.

All the Mona Lisa supposedly says is that the left hand side (or, the FEMALE half) is bigger because women were divine, as in most pagan mythology. The Last supper is the important work to the code. Though, Da Vinci was a Renaissance painter and therefore not present during the Last Supper so it's only his interpretation.

There has always been controversial novels about religion. Back in 1976, Robert Ludlum published 'The Gemini Contenders', about a secret that could have re-written the bible. But if that ever caused any uproar, I never heard about it. So long as it includes the disclaimer "This is a work of fiction. All characters mentioned...", just enjoy it for the entertainment that it is meant to be.

Let's be honest. Dan Brown will be remembered as one of the most awful writers in history. His ability to convey any thought is severely impaired, and educated writers from many diverse religious & secular backgrounds mock Dan Brown's pedantic, 3rd-grade level writing skills. Preachers would have better spent their time reading a chapter or two aloud from the pulpit, and allowing the hysterical laughter to sweep over the congregation, than to try 'refuting' Brown's poorly plagiarized rehash...

The only thing stupid about this video is most of the comments. Reality check: 1. Not even the most anti-Christian scholars consider the Bible "fiction" like the Da Vinci Cod is. It's filled with history. 2. "Da Vinci" isn't even a last name. It means "from Vinci". Dan Brown messed up there. 3. The theories about Jesus and the Bible in the novel are easily and often debunked, by pretty much every smart person.

I have read The DaVinci code in fact its one of my fave books and films......some might say im sad but so what? I believe its no more than a good thriller/piece of fiction, very entertaining, if there was a living bloodline of Christ today I think we would have discovered it by now or if there were any hidden treasures or holy cups. I just laugh at these so called academics who think they know it all but have not even bothred to read the book of which they so freely critisize, pathetic.

Well I'm not saying the DaVinci code is fiction or not, but if there was a living bloodline of Christ, I doubt we would ever know, and it would be highly possible that the person themselves woudln't know, and there are still a lot of hidden treasures out there, the world's a big place, the dead sea scrolls were only discovered 50yrs ago and they were written over 2000 years ago.

I have yet to finish this video, but what I have seen thus far ... it looks to be a level headed review of the gospel according to Saint Brown. I'm going to give Dr. Gasque the benefit of a doubt ... and assume that he has read Brown's book from cover to cover. And the Dr. seems to have a very good grasp of the Bible. I wonder if Dan has ever bothered to read the Bible ... cover to cover. Of course, "Mother Earth" may not approval of such a waste of time.

This was so painful to watch. Dr. Gasque really embarrasses himself throughout. He sounds like a bumbling third grader trying to give an oral book report. This farce of a "lecture" includes sweeping generalizations, superfluous plot summary, poor poise, unfounded or unsuported claims throughout, lack of evidence, blatantly inaccurate information . . . the list goes on and on. A professor might use this in an introductory Communication class to show students everything NOT to do! Really sad.
