  • Yet Disney won't re-release Song of the South

  • Great clip and it's not racist since racism exploits or puts down another race such as black. If anything, it shows how cool black people are with culture and music in that era

  • @Jamal0134 lmfao!

  • when I first saw I just thought it was a great song and it obviosly was because it was inspierd by great black music of the time. which was beautiful soulfull and quite frankly just amazing. and when I was a kid I didn't even know what racisim was until I started to watch american television.

  • Where's Fritz The Cat?

  • i don't get it?

  • Honestly I grew up watching Dumbo as a child this was just a favorite scene of mine, and now as I am older it still is but I can also see how it is racist too,the fact that the voices of the crows are black people who talk in the urban slur of that time and the fact that they are depicted as black crows, it is still a classic ,but you cannot deny the fact that this has elements of racism............

  • The crows are niggers. Listen to how they talk.

  • I watched this with my black friend and he said, and I quote VERBATIM, "Well, at least they didn't make these nigga crows dumb as shit."

    Words of wisdom.

  • 1 person never saw an elephant fly.

  • @PREZILLA2009 make it two

  • Classic

  • That mouse reminds me of Ferris Bueller. Is that racist?

Seriously though, Inspector Gadget looks like a mouse.

  • to all: this is a part of American history....without history, what do we have?

  • No racism comments? Oh c'mon, this is clearly racist. Still, it's the kind of racism that's kind of funny in retrospect. Besides, it's still one of Disney's better songs.

  • @jvondd how is this racist?

  • @Dumbofan1 *implied facepalm* You really don't see it? Have you ever heard of black minstrel shows?

  • @jvondd no i dont see it. at the time dumbo was made disney wasnt trying to be racist

  • @Dumbofan1 Being ignorant of racism or not intending something to come across as racist is no excuse. Go look up "black minstrel show" under Google, and you'll see what I mean. At the time Dumbo was made, racism was socially acceptable, so it's not that Walt Disney wasn't trying to be racist. He was. He just didn't know any better because he lived in a society where racism was the norm amongst many white people in America.

  • @Dumbofan1 Um...ask a black person. It's pretty damn racist. It's probably too complicated to explain how in a simple comment if you don't see it outright. Yep. Ask a black person.

  • @tuxedosponge Because black people get to decide whats racist now? They already have a whole month, their own TV station, whats next?

  • @jvondd Your an idiot. Just because the crows are given a certain character, does not mean they were portrayed with racism. So what your saying is just because the crows don't speak correctly, and because they're 'black crows', this makes the scene racist? Why don't you stop thinking like a moron and enjoy the story of Dumbo.

  • @OhHiKuzon I'm an idiot because I don't dismiss racism when I see it? Look, just because the crows are kind of racist doesn't necessarily place them on the same level of racism as selecting certain people as slaves on the basis of skin color. Racism isn't a good thing, but that doesn't make all acts of racism equal. That's like saying that all lies are equal. Take the stick out of your ass--and pull your head out too while you're down there--have a Prozac and chill out.

  • @jvondd Your still an idiot, hahaha. Your not getting it. So is the portrayal of Dumbo racist too? Seeing as he is probably a 'white' character. Is that racist? haha im not the one with a stick up my ass bro.

  • @Dumbofan1 oh idk maybe becuase theyre implying black voices and behavior on black birds?? use your brain.

  • @pepinozinanasshole Call me an idiot for all I care, but if there's one scene that I would spot stronger racial reference is the Roustabouts scene rather than the crows. I'm gonna be frank here, I like the crows; possibly the best characters in the show (the mouse is second). They're the reason why Dumbo flies in the film, which makes them awesome. I like them not as an over-analyzed object of racial stereotype, but as interesting characters.

  • @Dumbofan1 I don't know that "racist" is exactly the right word, but the racial undertones are obvious. The leader of the group was named Jim Crow, so they were definitely playing the stereotype. At the same time, I don't think they were using the stereotype to be insulting to blacks, which is why I don't think "racist" is the right word to use to describe it.

  • @jvondd They're crows singing a style of music that was popular at the time Dumbo came out...

  • @DHTHFC I think you're being facetious. You know that's not what we're talking about.

  • That was the great Cliff "Ukulele Ike" Edwards singing the lead, as well as the 'trumpet'. The man with a smile in his voice.

  • good old family racism

  • @98Lubo How so? Stereotypes, sure, but racism implies a negative portrayal.

  • @mewtata it was a joke from family guy =)

  • @mewtata Not necessarily. Racism just implies a stereotype based off on race.

Black people can dance and have rhythm. Those aren't negative, but they're most certainly racist.

  • When I watched this as a kid, I didn't know they were supposed to portray black people. I thought they were crows, and hip ones at that. They had the best song in the movie. And quite frankly, I still think they're just crows.

  • This is my favorite Disney song :3 No idea why but it always has been :P

  • Brilliant! thanks for posting!

  • @ThankYouForTheDays1 your welcome!
