I like this guy.. I've personally rocked Colt and projects.. gotta keep your sanity.. I've done these exact steps. Good info! I used my dishwasher after cleaning in the tub, then stainless steel brushed out the texture, washed in the dishwasher again, dried, and used Griots bumper and trim dye, works flawless, doenst come off.

Your "sweeping" spraying technique is not that good. It will cause thicker paint spots when you pause to return the stroke. You should spray with one clean sweep starting from the outside of your object to the other end.
