i think the movie version is better i know your all gonna say its live so its better not necessarily harvey does the role amazing but his singing is terrible and at the beginning she is gasping for breath and missing out words so that she can get her breath. She should run on the treadmill and sing it so that she can train herself to keep her breath thats what they have to do in wicked especially for defying gravity.

I watch the Tony's every year and I've found that some of the best and most promising performers get so nervous that they sound like crap at the Tony's [see Idina Menzel, "Wicked." By the way, one of my fave actresses who was incredible when I saw her in the "Wicked" OBC at the Gershwin). It's such a nerve racking experience, especially if it's your first time...

I agree that her voice is not up to par in this performance, but did you see her live? Probably not. Marissa was AMAZING live, and this is not a good representation of her talent. All performers have their bad days, and she must have been nervous about performing at the Tony Awards. If she wasn't talented, she would not have won the Tony Award.
