Well because 1080i is actually 540p

Computer monitors are inherently P (progressive) technology

to use the 1280x1024 resolution is

1024p (much much better then 540p/1080i)

Once you get it hooked up youll see

you wont regret it

its not quite as good as 1080p (but 56 lines of resolution wont be missed, damn anyone who tells you otherwise)

i did... theres certain game like halo3, orange box, fallout3, and pgr4 those game play in full screen (1280 X 1024) and no black bars. . but most of 360 games play fix at 16:9 (720p) and there will be black bars at top and the bottom. our crt is 4:3 thats why the native 720p game streched
