I have gay friends that have prayed everyday to God to turn them straight. And no matter how hard they pray, God doesn't do anything. So either God doesn't exist, or he doesn't give a damn. I would imagine that the reaction this congregation had was similar to the reaction congregations had years ago. There was a time when Christians used the bible to to oppose interracial relationships as well as uphold (or keep in place) slavery. @dionysius09 Funny, I have looked through the Bible in the Hebrew/greek and homosexuality isn't there. In fact, it took until the 1950's to add that word in. According to most Rabbis, the old testament doesn't mention the issue when translated properly, also many scholars now believe that Paul is talking about pederasty rather than homosexuality. Finally, Jesus never once mentions the issue. Be careful friend, by hating other people it may be you who is twisted.

Hebrew (the Old Testament) does not mention homosexuality, and I can prove it. The Greek (New Testament) uses the word arsenokoitai in Greek (transliterated into English letters). Arsenokoitai is a word meaning sexual abuse like rape and adultery.

Jesus taught us not to read scripture and hold it up as a means of judging others...whatever you or I think theologically should be true is separate from the way Jesus has called us to live. "Love thy neighbor as thyself and pray for those who persecute you....Love one another as I have loved you." I cannot judge against anyone's lifestyle or preferences or beliefs. My personal choice is love above all. I think that's what Rev. Baker is saying here, and I am here to witness to his truth.

I have read the Bible and only about 50% of it is even comprehensible to contemporary people. If you have reag it, you know exactly what I am talking about. The gist of the Bible can be summed up in probably one or two chapters and you wouldn't lose ANY essential information.

@ktrant Sodom and Gomorrah were NOT destroyed for being inhospitable. The three visitors going to Abraham and being welcomed (and not being welcomed in the city) is a metaphor for the righteous who will welcome the trinity and the wicked who will not. Sin was RAMPANT in the city - and THAT is why it was destroyed. I'm not even going to go into the homosexuality argument because you have it entirely incorrect from the start.

The bible does teach against it,as well as adultery, bestiality,etc., in the old and new testament. @dionysius09 Funny, I have looked through the Bible in the Hebrew/greek and homosexuality isn't there. In fact, it took until the 1950's to add that word in. According to most Rabbis, the old testament doesn't mention the issue when translated properly, also many scholars now believe that Paul is talking about pederasty rather than homosexuality. Finally, Jesus never once mentions the issue. Be careful friend, by hating other people it may be you who is twisted.

Hebrew (the Old Testament) does not mention homosexuality, and I can prove it. The Greek (New Testament) uses the word arsenokoitai in Greek (transliterated into English letters). Arsenokoitai is a word meaning sexual abuse like rape and adultery.
