  • Heh. Look at all the butthurt Metallica fans.

I'm sorry I hurt all of your feelings making you realize how poor and shoddy your taste in music is.

  • im sorry but this is crap compared to metallicas cover, did the lead singer inhale helium before singing it?

  • At first I thought the song was bad mouthing David Gates fans. How silly of me.

  • great stuff, I'm too young to know but surely this was some of the heaviest stuff of the era?to me they sound like a much more 'together' black sabbath, with better songs

  • Man, listen to that bass!

  • es mejor la vercion de metallica

  • My band decided were gonna cover this song as of yesterday. There faces when I showed them this song was priceless. Budgie might not be too well known especially here in the states amongst teenagers, but those of us who do know how awesome they are have one more legendary rock band that most people unfortunately never hear of

  • lucky me I got to see the original band up close play this song :)

  • @flyinv1967 me too! before they went on stage ! they jammed in my cousins basement! i was too young to go to the gig. i was 13, but they set the tone for my lifes taste in Rock. they stillgive me butterflies ! stezyrezy

  • Here's "Around the World" RHCP inspiration

  • @ensisorionis Sure... "inspiration"

  • It get's the blood pumping! I've always loved this band.

  • Love this, M.K. thx 4 sharing....love & peace, Krisdee xxx

  • farkey

  • The Metallica version sucks... as do the 10 idiots who don't know music and don't like this.

  • @JDHernandez105 well said ! stezyrezy

  • So they are not technically considered part of the NWOBHM, well...those guys had to have somewhere to start. Budgie is a great place to do so.

  • This song is an absolute mindblowing experience. Playing this song on your guitar makes you feel like a god on earth.

  • I first heard this song on Brutal Legend and I thank it

  • i love this

  • Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

  • Love Budgie. Kickass 70s hard rock. I much prefer their original version of this, to Metallica's cover

  • I'm here because the marching band I'm in plays this song all the time.

  • this song is almost 40 years old

  • NWOBHM ?

  • @gordondearlove This was a lil' bit before NWOBHM, more like in thie Black Sabbath, Zeppelin and Deep Purple era. But they certanly had a huge influence on NWOBHM.

  • @MrPopescuTheSecond Yes I knew, in fact think they had same producer as Sabbeth (Something like that) it was the acronym I didn't understand.(Since worked it out) Forgive me, I'm old !

  • Rush?

  • @LolonMatinez Yeah, he does sing a bit like Geddy Lee. I can hear the resemblance to Rush

  • I'm here because my priest likes this band :D

  • @xthefunbunx

    haaha

    so does my frier

  • I'm here because of Budgie.

  • I'm here because of Alice Cooper's radio show! And Metallica! 8D

  • I'm here because of Dave Mustaine haha

  • I came here because of Roger Dean.

  • Middle part reminds me of Jefferson Airplane.

  • I thought that the vocalist was female for the longest time.

  • @FroFroDaJimmyBoy you mean its not a chick????

  • @oldschoolrocker420 It's not

  • @oldschoolrocker420 It's just a little Welsh man lol.

  • its almost like he speaks through his guitar

  • Thumbs up if you not gay!

  • @VAzeLiN555 Thumbs up if you've matured past the point of gay bashing and realize that homosexuality and extreme homophobia usually have a positive correlation!

  • Chili Peppers totally ripped this off on around the world.

  • @mrfenderbenderman absolutly.

  • I remember my last ever acid trip was listening to some music of the time, and was having a bad trip until some one put this on, first 2mins of this i felt better, but when it came to the quiet melodic part i swear it was like listening to an angel crying, so this song stays with me, Thank's Burke Shelley

  • The Metallica version blows.

  • @pashedmotatos

not as much as you ur mom and this gay version

  • @Dominator5515 why all this hatred little troll?

  • @Cayque619 haha, well, more than only an inspiration, but RHCP are good too.

  • @pashedmotatos you blow

  • @pashedmotatos shut up cunt!!!!

  • @pashedmotatos You know what also blows? You, get down on your knees and get back to sucking. No one told you to talk.

  • budgie are the rockstars rock stars

  • I'm glad Metallica covered this. If they hadn't, I'd never have been inspired to seek out the original recording.

  • Great stuff! and a Roger Dean cover to boot!

  • just some of the greatest rock ever recorded. budgie rocked the hell out of breadfan.ain't nobody ever going to come close to them on this song.

  • why is everybody saying metallica's version sucks?? metallica did a great cover and they're playing that shit tight like a motherfucker!! try to make a good cover of a song like this and then say again that metallicas version is crap. Budgie fucking rules and so does Metallica!

  • They should have been at Download

  • this cover art should be on a tshirt super trippy

  • Now I'm thinking of a fan with rotating bread blades.

  • @mooninites3 Mmmmm.......tasty.....

  • very very good

  • Thanks Breadfan72, of course I'm just a common or garden male, Genevieve is my cat (she doesn't like Breadfan though!) But yes, I dig heaps of stuff; Nantucket Sleighride, Hocus Pocus and The Vanilla Queen come to mind. Keep on rockin'!

  • The most furious in-your-face track from this fine, intelligent first gen English heavy metal band. My mate Col played this to a friend at work, who after hearing 10 seconds of it, rushed out of the building, jumped in his car and sped to the record shop to order the album! This and "Bandolier" are undoubtedly their best two LPS, but I think the acoustic "Wondering What Everyone Knows" is my alltime fave Budgie song.

  • @Meandgenevieve You sir or madam, and your friends, have very Beatific taste in music! ~Stay what you wanna be-e-e!!~

  • assolutamente eccezionale! Grande brano...una vera band coi coglioni!

  • glad to see this version posted

  • The singer sounds like if you took a regular voice and put a voice changer on it to make it sound higher

  • The singer sounds like a girl

  • Did they call the band Budgie cause the singer sounds like a bird?

  • I think it would be sweet If Rush, Budgie and Cream would do a show together!

  • @canadianmetalmaggot Rush, Budgie, and Cream on the same bill? I'd so be there in a shot if it happened :)!

  • god damn, that is an awesome riff

  • lol burke shelley

  • All these posts and I just now remembered to dislike this video. LOL! Number 9.

  • Don't feed the troll, lol this kid fucking blows at it.

  • @BBPride92 This all started with a budgie fan running his mouth about Metallica' far superior version of this song. So I came here to repay the favor. Now budgie fans are crying. "Please stop making fun of our shitty band" I know enough about music to know this version sucks balls compared to Metallica. As I said below, THE FUCKING TRUTH!! Metallica made budgie more famous then their actual talent ever could. You're welcome budgie

  • @BBPride92 That's what she said!

  • I love that budgie could spend every dollar they ever earned, PLUS have creditors back them, PLUS have their fan base spread the word and still James Hetfield could wake up tomorrow morning, have his wife queef on a piece of paper that reads "Metallica concert tomorrow"...throw that piece of paper in the trash and still more people would show up for Metallica. Pathetic.

  • LOL!!! Budgie claim to be one of the first heavy metal bands!!! LOL!!! Yea, RIGHT!! 1971???? REALLY? See MC-5 from Detroit in 1965. England sucks at everything.

  • You're welcome "budgie" Metallica made you more famous then your actual talent ever could. Be proud. I love that EVERY budgie video on Youtube mentions Metallica and yet budgie is never mentioned on a Metallica vid.

  • @BBPride92 Metallica wrote this song about your mother and I coming together.

  • This is like an Alvin and the Chipmunks version of Metallica's tongue in cheek LIVE concert opener.. Pathetic. Go to your Youtube search bar and type in "Budgie" NOTICE that "Breadfan" is the first result. Now, type in "Metallica".......Where's "Breadfan?"

  • that cjick must like bread REEEAL bad

  • she likes bread sooo baaad...

  • If anything. Metallica advertised Budgie to the fans who never heard them before by covering this song...Take this info from someone who heard the Metallica version first.

  • @azrielseclements They could have at least made a cover that didnt suck though :b.

  • all song covers are a compliment to the original artist!!cant we all just rock along?

  • @kanetpol31 That should be obvious. Anyway the metallica cover sucks imo. James Heitfield has a horrible voice. This guy is better I think. He reminds me of Rush.

  • BRUTAL LEGEND!!! :D

  • Everything fits and works here

  • I can't believe these guys tried to cover a Metallica song. This is awful. Metallica' original version was much better.

  • @mikepants34 you do realize this is the original... Metallica made the cover.

  • @isthistakenohsadface That doesn't sound right. This song was written by James Hetfield and co-written by Marty Robbins. You're stupid if you think Budgie wrote this song. They covered the song, then claimed they wrote it just to cling on to Metallica' coattails. Get a clue.

  • @mikepants34 I really hope you're kidding. Budgie recorded "Breadfan" in 1973, appearing on the album "Never Turn Your Back on a Friend", of the same year. Metallica went to cover this song 15 years later, in 1988 on the album "Garage Inc.".

  • @StuffedGames If you wanna believe the lies of this talentless band, go right ahead, but those of us living in reality know Metallica wrote this song.

  • @mikepants34 Alright, so where did you take this "so reliable" information?

  • @StuffedGames Your mom.

  • @mikepants34 Alright then, I'll ask her.

  • would you please go fuck yourself with 'Metallica' jesus fucking christ, both M and B are great bands and I really can't find any creative curse/swear on this stupid english language to suit you cause english is gay and you're gay and all one balkan idiot can say to you is JEBO VAM MALI ISUS MATER F PIZDU GLUPU or LITTLE JESUS FUCKS YOUR MOTHER RIGHT IN HER STUPID CUNT but sounds ten times better and ominous when said on zagorski jezik jeba vam sto bogof

  • How about everyone just shut the hell up about who is better between Budgie and Metallica and just agree that Budgie is better so we can all sit here and enjoy this genius music.

  • @BLACKSABBATH0HM

Comparing Budgie and Metallica is like trying to compare Apollo 13 to a Lamborghini Diablo. Sure, the car is slicker and more compressed power, but the Apollo 13 laid the fucking groundwork to modern technology. The car just aped it.

  • The song is damn catchy. 8.5 out of 10.

  • a song enjoyed by two great bands in equal measure. like one or the other or even both (like me) and just fucking enjoy it "simples" wink

  • the lyrics don't make sence, but I like it!

  • thisis good, but the singer sounds like girl (if it is i'm sory this is my 1st song i ever heard by them).

  • Thumbs up if you knew this before Brutal Legend and Metallica! wooh

  • @BadMotorFinger92 brutal legend still rocks though

  • @BadMotorFinger92 I like the montrose reference in your name.

  • @ChristianU2ubeh Really?? A Metallica fan is going to have to correct this because these budgie fans KNOW NOTHING!! Badmotorfinger is a Soundgarden album. You're thinking of Bad Motor Scooter. Typical know nothing budgie fan. They're still really talented though guys.......NOT!

  • @mikepants34 umad?

  • @mikepants34 Which in itself is a reference to Bad Motor Scooter you idiot.

  • @ChristianU2ubeh Nice try, idiot! If the guy was really referencing Montrose he would've made his screen name "Badmotorscooter" NOT "Badmotorfinger" It was OBVIOUSLY a Soundgarden reference. Not a Montrose reference. When Soundgarden named the album "Badmotorfinger" they might have been referencing Montrose, but not the poster. IDIOT! LOL!

  • @mikepants34 ...

    ...

    ...

    umad.

  • @ChristianU2ubeh udumb

  • @mikepants34 umad

  • @ChristianU2ubeh Its actually a Soundgarden Reference which is a Montrose reference. But thanks dude! no ones really complimented my username before haha! rock on dude!!

  • @BadMotorFinger92 Don't mind Christian, He's lookin California, but feelin Minnesota. Yea.

  • @mikepants34 Hes gotta break from his rusty cage!

  • @mikepants34 nice soundgarden reference.

  • @BadMotorFinger92 I knew it in SPIRIT!! But seriously, i wish i had WAY before.

  • @TheBreadfan72 Doesnt matter as long as you know it now and love it! BUDGIE FOREVER!

  • @BadMotorFinger92 Knew it before Brutal Legend.

  • @BadMotorFinger92 I came here because of Metallica, BUT do I like it? Absolutely! If I didn't then why would I comment?

  • thumbs up if you found out about this band because you read dave mustaine's autobiography

  • Haters off Budgie should just go away forever. I can't even comprehend what sort of demon has corrupted their minds to not love Budgie.

  • Never turn your back on a friend or at least open up your purse

  • just remember, kiddies...this was recorded in 1973...long before y'all were born, I suspect...

  • Straight up, I'll take Metallica's cover over this...their version is more aggressive..this is good too but Metallica's cover is a beast

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo Their cover was terrible and doesnt compare to what Budgie captured...ever.

  • @disturbedspike I guess in your eyes it doesnt compare but in mine I'd much rather hear James vocals then whatever that is in Budgie

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo His name is Burke Shelley, and hes far superior than James. follow Meh-tallica trail of shit than by all means piss off.

  • @disturbedspike I dont care what his name is, his vocals suck in my opinion if you dont like it tough, no one told you to reply to my comment so take your hater ass else where punk

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo

And I'll take the Budgie version, by far. Metallica are a good band but should stick to their own stuff. They can't improve on this; noone can because it's THE definitive version.

  • @MrHistorian123 I respect that, I just cant get into the vocals here thats my only beef with it..sounds weak

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo - nothing weak about Burke's vocals - did you ever see them live? - don't judge them by their records - Budgie were much better live than on record.

  • @NeilThompson30 No I didnt see them live...and in my opinion his vocals are weak and girly sounding. Sorry fellas if you dont agree with me but I really dont care. To be truthfully honest I'm not even that big of a fan of Metallica I'm just saying Metallica's version is way better. And I dont judge them by their records I judge them by what I hear and what I hear is rubbish

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo - every good rock singer sounds girly - Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, Jon Anderson, Rob Halford and Geddy Lee come to mind - they don't sound like normal blokes do they?

  • @NeilThompson30 You bring up a good point valid point sir, my main point is I think the vocals in this is on the weak side. I'm not a big fan of James Hetfield or nothing and I think he's far from the best vocalist ever but he brings more aggression to the song then whats his or her name

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo - I know where you're coming from - theMetallica version is from an era where people are OBSESSED with production - this wasn't the case in the 70s - this is why I'm saying that you had to see Budgie live - if this was the case then nobody would dream of knocking Budgie. I saw them five times between 74 and 78 and they were incredible every time.

  • @MightyMightyJuggalo You don't appreciate the pioneers like Nazareth, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Elf, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Lucifers Friend, Budgie, and Atomic Rooster. You're obviously a mainstream rock fan. To be a true fan of music you have to appreciate all pioneers for what they are and their influence. Metallica to me is an ok band but there influence??? seriously what good bands have Metallica influenced. Hmmm? Then look at the greats I mentioned and their influence.

  • @hermygagala Who the F' are you to tell me who I dont appreciate. For your information bucko I happen to be a big fan of Judas Priest, Painkiller and Electric eye are two of my favorite Priest songs next to Breaking the Law. Who the F' are you too tell me I dont appreciate the might Black Sabbath? I'll rock out to Dio Black Sabbath an Ozzy Black Sabbath so fuck you. Dont go making assumptions about people you never met before asshole. Fuck mainstream rock.

  • @hermygagala Continuing from my last post, I didnt claim to be a Metallica fan or any of the sort, I just happen to live this version better what is that a fuckin crime to like one version of a song better then the other? Like I said dont make assumptions about me when you dont know me. But for your information, my idea of metal is old trash metal. Antrhax, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, JUDAS PRIEST. Like I said dont tell me what I do or dont appreciate cause you dont know shit

  • Yuck, what is this? I came here to listen to some 'tallica. Not to listen to some girl sing.

  • @LiNaK37 So you came to the original artist's song to hear Metallica and then you bitch about the song that, without Budgie, Metallica wouldn't have even been able to make a good cover of? You're a fucking moron.

  • @MidnightThrash Pfft. Metallica could have made this shit without the original, think before you speak.

  • @LiNaK37 You're missing the point entirely, you illiterate dunce. The point is, don't disrespect an original just because you only like the cover because you're a fanboy. Personally, I like Metallica's cover more than this. Do you see my stumbling my way across YouTube, hating on Budgie like a douchebag? Not at all. So go fuck yourself.

  • @MidnightThrash Pfft, I'm not a Metallica fanboy, no need to whine and get mad. You're the one missing the point :D

  • @LiNaK37 I'm not getting mad or whining, I'm just insulting you and you're responding sarcastically to make me mad and make it seem like it's failing. You're doing terribly, by the way. If you appreciate music at all, and I assume you do if you listen to Metallica, then you can appreciate the hard work that Budgie put into their song. Maybe Metallica could have written this song, the point is they didn't and you should respect the fact that it's around to be covered.

  • @MidnightThrash Trash isn't something you respect.

  • @LiNaK37 One person's opinion doesn't design the template for what's bad and what isn't. To you, this is trash. To many others, it's fantastic. I'll stop arguing because I can clearly see you're thick-headed and close-minded and it's a waste of my time to try and convince you otherwise. But you don't deserve to have music if you can't respect it just because you don't like it. That's really just sad and very stupid of you.

  • @MidnightThrash Good, I'm tired of listening to your whining.

  • nice song, but seriusly looks like it's a girl singing.

  • This riff is bitchin'

  • Burke Shelley really has a feminine voice.

  • @Crooooooow777 I think his voice is kickass...just like Geddy Lee's lol

  • @drzfynest65 When I heard this song at first in "Brutal Legend", I thought it was a 1980's metal pop look-a-like girl singing.

  • @Crooooooow777 lol nice. Can't say I blame you

  • Heard this on the Ceryss Matthews show on BBC6 yesterday, that is an absolutely amazing riff! I've got something new to hassle the guys at the guitar shop with now.

  • Heard this on the Ceryss Matthews show on BBC6 yesterday, that is an absolutely amazing riff! I've got something new to hassle the guys at the guitar shop with now.

  • METALLICA

  • This is awesome...so 70s! Metallica's Version is good they didnt change much in it they just made it more define. Budgie's version had all the feeling though.

  • Dang I thought the singer was a girl! Anyway good song.

  • @416nWild its not a girl? :O

  • 2:54 Beautiful change in tune!

  • FUCK! IT'S AMAZING!

  • Lol, amazing band name. Completely amazing. Whoever disagrees has never owned a budgie

  • Budgie is a early 70s Heavy Metal band period.

  • this band is fuckin sweet. so glad i found em.interesting now, that to find cool new bands, and innovative sounds in music you ave to go back to te classics.cuz innovation was a completely different story in music back then

  • SO MUCH BETTER THAN SHITALLICA'S VERSION

  • Listen Red Hot Chili Peppers Around the World and tell me that it's the same song. Budgie is awsome forget about the new rock bands..
