  • I used to do it that way until a couple of months ago. Now I just pump the dirty oil into a 40 gal hot water tank where it only takes a couple of days to drain off the water and settle the gunk out. Then air pressure sends it through a 1 mic filter to my barrel with my fuel transfer pump/nozzle attached. The end result is the same but the time it takes is drastically reduced. I'm in northern Canada and don't heat my shop so the hot water tank is a life saver. Well a $ saver anyway ;?)

  • Well, you could heat the oil to 150 - 170 and feed it back into itself.  That would get rid of most of the water. Now, I would run the oil first through a centrifuge to get most of the trash out. If you want you can't run that back through a 10, 5 and 1 um filter. Now during the summer if you want to save on electricity then you could storage the oil in black hdpe drums and this would allow the oil to heat up and settle a little faster. Then you can run that to the holding tank setup.

  • @Gruurk2 Sounds like a lot of trouble to me.. Centrifuges are expensive, and so is heating stuff up. I think I'll stick to letting it set for a week, that's cheap and easy, and has worked just fine for over 70K miles

  • this is exactly what i do for my 78 rabbit diesel. i use plastic not metal though. quick tip for longer filter life use a string filter firs then go to the carbon, on top of that wrap the string filter in paper towel. nice work hope to talk to you

  • Just curious is that the 1" Clear Water Pump that is for sale at harbor freight? Looking to finish my set-up. The only problem is I have plastic 55-gallon drums, would most likely need the metal drums for better seals on the fittings and valves.

    Nice set-up glad to see your results. Have a 300D 1978 which I can't wait to convert to 100% WVO.

  • yes it is. It has given no problems still working today. Metal drums are easier, just braze the lines to it.

  • hello i was wandering if a distillate such as rubbing alcohol would help i add it to gas to reduce water in the tank from sweating.

  • I never knew you could use a chinese centrifugal pump from harbor freight to move oil. Why not use the gas pump's internal pump? I have an old Tokheim 300 that pumps my wvo to the front yard.

  • the old gas pump from a filling station is rusted and froze up. It hasn't been used since gas was $1.09 a gallon. And yes, the cheap pump works great, even pushing through a filter.

  • various restaurants give it to me for free. I've thought about the HHO, but I like to keep it simple, and this is working so well (42 MPG), and I get plenty of oil.

  • How do you get the V-oil? is it free? build a HHO generator and see if your mileage improves. I heard that diesels get better results than gas.

  • I was impressed with your set up with 2 barrels and filtering the top oil after a week settling.

    Do you not use any additive to help the separation?

  • I mix in kerosene and diesel-kleen cetain boost along with a little bit of regular gas in the colder months. See my other video "Isuzu I-Mark runs on veggie oil mix"

  • Don't try to trick us with your HHO bullshit.
