You can not compare the intervention in the Dominican Republic in the Vietnam War. In Santo Domingo the rebel forces were poorly trained and under. In Vietnam there was support from the Communists (USSR, China and others) and a difficult and crazy people. All this experience and the Vietcong in jungle combat contributed to the defeat of North America.

I'm dominican by birth and I've lived throught the civil war in 1965. No 10,000 marines were killed in the Dominican Republic nor 500,000 dominicans, as many claim, perished as well. Those are lies. The US intervencion saved inocent lives by preventing a further bloodshed. Even thou the revolution was just, it was plagued with communists.
