  • Amazing

  • x2 for nerdgasm. Kurt, you are a genius

  • Ok I ahve to say I'm a tiny bit dissappointed, when I heard the sounds in the beginning I was so expecting the Space Odyssey theme. Nice nontheless :)

  • @PhaseLabs yeah the shifting the carrier frequency has the feel of 'auch sprach zarathustra'; maybe someone can remix it :)

  • So in the sci fi movies, all they do is run thor through an oscilloscopometer or whatever and show us the visuals? Neat.

  • 1:33 neet!

  • Very cool

  • I understand you have Osc 1&2 panned L&R, but what's Osc 3 doing? Is it just mixed center when it's on?

  • It would be really cool if Props could include some visualisation units in Reason 7, like a version of this oscilloscope and a spectrum analyser!

  • Do more of these please!

  • Oh god the shapes...

    The shapes are so pretty...

  • I had a few problems with getting the sound from Thor to jump right in to my oscillator software on my old computer.

So I had to use ins- and outputs on my soundcard. It's quite interesting despite the noise from the cabels and soundcard, and what ever comes around, but this is really something.

But how come it's circle-shaped? Most of the oscilloscopes I've seen are just formed in a straight line. But it seems like this can recognize patterns...

...or am I "strolling in the bushes" here?

  • @FingarB a "dual trace" or two input scope has an X-Y mode where one signal controls the amplitude of the vertical axis and the other alters the horizontal axis. Since the oscillators are in phase, this would normally produce a straight diagonal line, which is why I have the LFO to Pitch mod applied to the oscillators. This allows me to throw the oscillators out of phase which produces the visual rotation effect. If I stop the LFO at the right moment, it appears as a circle.

  • I wonder if this could be duplicated with Quartz composer?

Would make a cool visualization :-)

  • love it

  • nerdgasm

  • loving the sub shake

  • fascinating...

  • Looks too three dimentional, freakin out. Love it.

  • this is sweet!

  • sound never looked so good.

  • I really should try that out ! I have two scopes here, an analogue and a digital.

  • so hypnotising... if only it was just the oscilloscope :P

  • can you give me the name of your oscilloscope please?

  • @hichamoutahar it's an old JDR instruments Model 3500 dual trace oscilloscope.

  • instant thorgasm

  • What kind of oscilloscope is it?

  • @obd it's an old analog scope in XY mode. You can do this with any oscilloscope

  • Thor turns into Tron at 2:14, could be an Identity Disc. Now how about a light-cycle?

  • That is very fascinating to watch Peff! Nice video :)
