  • Jack's Ghost is here in electronic space! We can see the impression of his physical self, and listen to his astronomical poetry in the resonance of his own words, here on the greatest medium ever, You-Tube.

This haunting version of Debussey Arabesque is fully appropriate, as it was during his show.

    Jack is with us!

    Thanks for posting.!

  • @CHAS1422 Thank you very much..that was quite a nice comment. That's the great thing about You-Tube...I still find myself every so often flipping on one of his episodes of Star-Gazer on the MiamiScienceChannel. Jack's episodes are still as relevant today as though they were made for the upcoming week. Kudos to Jack Horkheimer...and Tomita as well!

  • We miss ya Jack. I promise to keep looking up. RIP good Sir.

  • @Trevelyansway Thank you..I still miss Jack as well.

  • I, too remember watching Jack when I was a teen...I always wanted to know who did that crazy-awesome synth version of "Arabesque" and it was not until a year or two ago that I found out about Isao Tomita, one in a growing list of favorite Japanese performers and composers (Kitaro is my top fave!)...and I hear the synth version and I always think of Jack Horkheimer and his clear passion and enthusiasm for astronomy. I could tell he always found a way to make it fun for all. RIP, Jack!

  • @druidkat7 Thanks for commenting...I really appreciate that!

  • He is one of the reasons I started to like astronomy. Jack, I'll always "keep looking up." : )

  • Here's to you, up there, Jack. We'll "keep looking up"...

  • RIP Mr Horkheimer, thanks for your contribution in astronomy and a better understanding of the universe. This doesn't only require knowledge but feeling also, your show provided both, Keep looking up!

  • I remember watching this as a child (i'm a little on the young side...born 1991) and it made me truly wanna reach for the stars...in a cheezy "be all you can be" sorta way. I remember it really saddened me when I found out he died...even though I hadn't seen the show in a while. Luckily it's still going on albeit with a different host but Jack will live forever, closer to the stars.

  • @MrIvalice Nice comment here, thank you for posting :)

  • Nice work on this one walt. Stary sounds, Fits perfect.

  • @TheTelekon Thanks Phil...yeah its a little different than the original synth version by Tomita...it seemed to work ok.

  • Hi Walt!

    julie

    all the best to you..

    walt

  • Hi Walt, A very nice tribute. I'll miss the show. I hadn't watched in a while but was saddened when I heard he passed away. Sweet sounds coming through the universe here.

    Mark

  • @busywave Thanks Mark, it was awhile for me too, so searched, and found out the sad news. Gutted me!

Glad you liked it Mark..all the best.

    Walt

  • Cool music.Sounds like the blofeld ,a real spacey sort of sound nice movement throughout the music, great vid too.

  • @Synthsound1 Thanks Dave, the blofeld really came through for me on this. Cheers.

  • @NickDrake101 Yeah it did love that sound, analog but smooth on the ear.Damn youtube keeps posting my comments twice lol.

  • @Synthsound1 that's the thing that i really like about the blofeld: many of the sounds are so good that you can just pick a sound on the fly for just about anything. Then start tweaking the matrix :) yeah, that double post things been going for a while now. I like comments but this is ridiculous. :D
