  • What do you guys mean Alice in Chains was not grunge? I see grunge as a music genre where the energy comes from the sad, and beautiful emotions the bands express. The strange thing is with grunge, it amplifies your emotions. When you're happy, grunge makes you happier, when you're very sad, grunge makes you even more sad. Alice in Chains does that to me more than any band. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, or songs like Planet Caravan, Jail (Down), Suicide note pt.1 (Pantera) are also considered grunge to me.

  • Down with David Allan Coe March 4-6 at the Cotton Gin in Maxwell TX (5 miles east on San Marcos). Deemed, "The Wildest Camping Party In Texas!".

    TEXAS INDEPENDENCE FEST DOT COM

  • alice in chains are one of the best

  • Fuck in my opinion AIC was in a genre of their own. They were just a really good bluesy hard rock band that had sum amazing songs that in my opinion stood out amongst their peers...

  • nutshell - tune

  • ya thats true they were lumped in with nirvana and all that cos of where they were from but thet were always a band that people into heavier stuff could listen to without being called a fag for listening to stuff not as heavy

  • grunge is the best type of music. alice in chains was one of the more successful bands of the 90's. them and pantera

  • FUCK GRUNDGE!!!!

  • @death3213 Fuck YOU.

  • FUCK YOU CUNT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @death3213 Haha that's the spirit!

Why do you say fuck grunge?

  • they are classified as grunge because they were from seattle and sang rock n roll during the so called "grunge era" i myself dont consider them "grunge" its a silly word

  • grunge never existed! i was a terme used by the media to classified the sound, fashion and other aspects from seattle! and i think any band from seattle was different lisent to the screaming trees and nirvana or pearl jam with mudhoney they were different, but awesome sound came from those bands! i just love them probably the less nirvana cause i think they were overplayed, but i still love the bleach album from them.

  • I was in Seattle before the grunge explosion and I can say that to a certain degree, grunge DID exist. Lots of us were listening to Black Sabbath and various punk bands at the time. Some of us in bands would call our sound "grunge" because it was all dirty sounding.

It was good music, but a whole lot of us were some messed up. Drugs & drink ruled the day. Glad I left, cause that scene had way too many personal tragedies.

  • @genetrosper

but there's other subgenre that synergized both grunge and heavy metal--

and im talking about SLUDGE music.

  • grunge is a really general term i think because all these bands came from Seattle the are all said to be grunge but hey are all different pearl jam nirvana AIC and sound garden all sound totally different in my opinion

  • you are right gayassllama! i take your opinion and i agree with it!

  • yess i agree with u grungefever..i dont understand it when they classify aic as grunge..and might i add that im both huge aic and pantera fans and its freakin great seein phil honor such talent as layne and aic

  • Woulda been nice to see him sing the whole song...

  • Hey I was at this concert - He weren't wasted its the warping sound quality! He did it pretty good. There was a blown amp so he did a bit of adlibbing while it got fixed. This concert fuckin ruled by the way!

  • you'd be hard pressed to find phil when he's not wasted

  • Shit, noone else realised that phil and layne had something in common?? the music had nothing to do with it when they met....

  • Phil used Oxy and Laine shot up.

  • both used heroin actually

  • thank you. at least someone else knows what the fuck they're talkin about.

  • they both shot up

  • PanterA and Alice In Chains toured together a few times. PanterA didn't exactly like grunge, but they had a lot of respect for Alice. On another note, Phil recently sang a few songs live with Alice In Chains including Would? and Them Bones.

  • too bad one of dimes favorite bands was alice in chains and there are lots of pictures of both bands partying together.. and you can see them playing together in vulgar videos................gotta love all these misinformed mother fuckers who think they know whats up...

  • horns up to u bro and all the sic motherfuckers that know what is the real.

  • Pantera maybe didn't like grunge, but AIC isn't as grunge as PJ/Nirvana/Soundgarden. AIC is like mixing metal and grunge, they sound much heavier than other grunge bands. And I guess they just liked each other..

  • PJ isn't really grunge either.

I love Pantera and grunge personally.

  • Terrible. But, hey! He was fucking wasted.

  • Touching.

  • surprising to hear the audience knows the words!

  • How wasted was he?

  • beautyfull

  • Very nice!
