Wait... April 2011 to current "Oct 2011 I lost 75lb Doctors appt in April of 2011 I was 313lb today I'm 238lb Sorry... I was pulled off all my medication in May 2011 one month later after losing over 20lb. I do take one low dose HP pill 2mg of Perindolpril but taken off all my diabetes prescriptions. Glucose waking 91 (fasting) hour after eating 116, two after meal 97 and 4 hours after meal 81. Becoming Vegan saved my life I feel great!!! Type 2 diabetes is a choice.
People make excuses to continue eating animals because they don't want to give up flesh and dairy. Type 2 diabetics that become type 1 diabetics knows of vegan diet but many of them choose to stay sick so they can gorge themselves 2am eating a whopper and salty fries with a 44oz sodium sugar coated soft drink. NO!!! NO!!! Vegan is the best diet 'Whole Plants.' their are 100's of YouTube video's type 1 diabetics became type 2 diabetics and taking pills no longer on pumps, insulin shots. People l
Little of my history for those who are ignorant to being Vegan. I was 313lb high blood pressure, and diabetic 2000mg metformin per day including 12 other pills daily!! Today I'm medically off all my medication and 235lb at 44 years old!!! I feel great!! I became a vegan in April 2011 doctor took me off my meds in late May 2011. All I did was become a strict low fat vegan. I currently owned 15 vegan cookbooks and vegan cooking is far better then consuming animals.
I totally disagree with people's comment they see vegans unhealthy not fit; that's actually arrogant. How do you gauge a person based on appearance being unfit? Every Vegan I met has more energy they know what to do with and many people who 'become' Vegan were sick due to medical problems. So again how are you gauging people's well being based on the vegan diet? Myself Vegan and I know these dumb statements aren't true.
I am now vegetarian but striving to become Vegan...I still eat very little dairy and cheese...but i'm starting to love the soy cheeses and almond milks, so i don't thin k it will be hard for me to become vegan....
You are generalizing. I've seen people who eat meat look frail and tired. The truth is whether someone is vegan or eating meat, many of them are also eating processed foods and processed foods will make the body sick. I healthy diet is fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and some grains like quinoa, millet, brown rice, etcc. No processed foods.
I totally agree : no processed foods. But my body needs fish. I don't mean to generalize and i get your point of view. So let me rephrase : I see a lot of vegans that are not balanced and healthy in their diet, so it has given me that type of view point, but I do see how it could be healthy for some body types. My body, however, needs fish.
I like a diet consisting of veggies, fruits, legumes and whole grain with fish. I don't promote cheeses, but greek yogurt is very good.
And how do you avoid heavy metals from the fish? Not to burst your bubble here, but humans are primates and they are a frugivorous species. They may act like they are ominvores, but if you compare a dog with a human you can clearly see there is a difference.

If you want to eliminate dairy for good, watch, "marketing disease," by Dr. John Mcdougall. It will convince you.

vegans never look all that healthy to me, they look tired and frail, there needs to be a balance. this is an extreme in my opinion
