"Messiah. An Aramaic word meaning the anointed. It occurs only in Dan. 9:25–26 and John 1:41; 4:25 (Messias). Used as the title of an office, it denotes the King and Deliverer whose coming the Jews were eagerly expecting. In the N.T. the deliverer is called the Christ, which is the Greek equivalent of Messiah"...
@rbvmtr Google "Messiah ben Joseph" and go to jewishencyclopedia ..."Thereupon Armilus [aka Antichrist] ... according to the other, will appear with their hosts before Jerusalem, wage war against Messiah b. Joseph, and slay him. His corpse, according to one group, will lie unburied in the streets of Jerusalem"... This should sound familiar read Revelation ch.11. So he is not Joseph Smith. But he is one of the 2 to die in Israel.
Joseph Smith jr. is not Messiah ben Joseph but he is a future President of the LDS church and is one of the 2 to die in Israel in Revelation 11th chapter
Ben= Descendent Therefore it cannot be Christ in both references. Messiah ben Joseph(ephriam) cannot be Messiah ben David(judah) just at a different point in time. It's talking about heritage, lineage, a family line. So in answer that is how you can know that they are different persons. Because they come from different lines.
I think theyre both Jesus Christ, its just his two seperate comings, Ben Joseph is his birth through mary, Ben David is when he returns as King. That's what I got from it
No, I think Jesus is Messiah ben David, mentioned in one of the previous episodes. Joseph Smith would be Messiah ben Joseph, who came from Joseph through Ephraim. That's my opinion, anyway, for what it's worth.
I don't know, because he was quoting Hebrew sources. I think it was Episode 6 or 7 where he talked about the rabbis looking for Messiah ben Joseph and Messiah ben David. I remember him mentioning the Talmud and some other ancient texts, but I can't remember if it was in connection with this specific point. Was that about Zenos and Zenock being removed because they told that the Messiah would initially be rejected? Oops, I wasn't taking notes, I was playing with Photoshop! Listen again!

The earliest reference to the shepherd, the stone of Israel [Messiah] that comes from the linage of Joseph is Genesis 49:22,24.
Earliest indications of a second Messiah in Abraham 3:24 [23-28] "And there stood one among them that was like unto God"...
