I grew up with Matt. That is all he ever did - play guitar. That's how you get to be the best. Focus, and practice, practice, practice. Matt is one of the best in entire world and I am proud to say that I know him and call him a friend.
this is great!! I use to take lessons at music and arts by some man with gray hair. He had a jazz guitar.. forget his name.. was like 4 years ago. I might have to start taking lessons from this place again!!!!
Very nice control, and coming from a student of GIT '89. I've seen many of the greats, and your finesse is apparent. Wow, I miss those days. Play on, apb
I'm jealous. Then again...I'm sure you got that good by practice. Too bad there are no shortcuts in the road to being badass. This was just so awesome.
I grew up with Matt - Springfield, VA (sux)! All the 16 hour days of dedicated practice, truancy, lack of interest in anything or anyone but your guitar has really paid off. Keep rockin' in the free world man
wow that was freakin amazing.... But totally expected- i mean ur in a label like shrapnel so i knew before i even played the vid that this was gonna kick some ass. Keep playin dude and i'm gonna check out timelord!!
i could use a video lesson about economy picking and/or sweep picking that's true...if you could do us a favor.. :-) you're very good very clean playing well done i salute you
Amazing as always Matt. I'd love to get a chance to see guys live again, but with school it doesn't look like it'll happen unless you can schedule a show down in Fredericksburg.
Well done for getting on shrapnel, to be among guys like jason becker, richie kotzen and on the label that bought yngwie to us must be intense.
Great shred video, we need more proficient guitarists like you in this world, i need someone to motivate me to play better! I just dont feel these new guys out there in metals solos like i do a shrapnel one.
the barely visible guitar is a rare jackson rrj2 24-fret neck-thru randy rhoads model. the guitar was used on 9 or 10 songs on timelord's first shrapnel album called "regeneration." i changed sponsors,so the jacksons are now for sale!!!! the amp/cab setup used for this clip was a line hd147 head and a 4x12 mesa rectifier cabinet with c90 speakers. the line 6 head was a temporary rig...i didn't have it very long. it was bulletproof, but had inferior "digital" tone.
jason is one of my favorites. way back in the day i asked him for some lessons...he was very busy at the time,so he sent me a letter with a guitar pick and an autograph. it is pretty surreal that we are labelmates now! jason's new album should be out in the near future.
