Just had a glimpse at the book U2 by U2. They mention Greg Carroll to whom this song is dedicated. He was a vibrant young Maori guy in NZ who worked as local roady in Auckland. He had never been overseas. U2 took a shine to him, got him a passport and took him around the world with them. Unfortunately he was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident. U2's best song written about their manager who was a New Zealander ,One Tree Hill is one of my favourite places to go to , it is in a place called Greenlane which is in Auckland City , when you go there it will take your breath away and youll never forget it!!
