Actually its compared to the rrod because the people that are comparing it are the people who only play online games like cod of battlefield ect. Because pen is down it's like having a bricked console also it was a hardware failure due to Sonys lack of security
@skullpile666 Well in a way its still different cause you can still play games on the PS3 even though the network is down while the rrod makes your 360 basically a giant paperweight. I get the point your trying to make, but its still not a great comparison between the two circumstances
great installment. love the mom tie in. i miss chronotrigger... agreed the two are incompareable, but id prefer ps3s issue to the ongoing red ring problem. the statistic is still 40% failure rate for xboxes... boo that. ill stick to ps3 and buying games that are still good played offline.
Say what you want about faulty hardware. But I'd rather have 2 or more consoles burn up and replace them with SOME of my money then have my damn credit card information stolen and lose ALL of my money. Not to mention you can't move a hard drive from one PS3 to another if you PS3 gets YLOD. It might be less common than RROD, but you can always recover you data.
Data and personal banking information > hardware... just sayin'
@bakedbean1232 That's completely besides the point. Even if there's ways to recover identity theft or counter someone spending your money, it's the simple fact that Sony lost your personal data in the first place. It shouldn't have to fall on you to fix their mistake.

@Lantis02 If you're dumb enough to not notice all your money being stolen and not do anything about it, then yeah, you're probably right. Just sayin'
