You could have saved $500.00 by foregoing the IS version of the f2.8 70-200 (at least for the sports photography). Fast shutter speed is negating the stop down ability of that lens.
Hey Jason, what kind of back up bodies are you running? I'm looking at picking up a 7D and using my 60D as a backup, I would go 1 series but the funds just simply aren't there for me.
@supersabre69 Yeah you could, but that defeats the purpose of buying a lens for adaptable use. You can't sneak away with too many keepers from a high school football game with 4.5/5.6 because you won't be able to keep your shutter speed high enough.
A thing I'd like to point out that you may have missed in the hurry, the Canon L lenses with the weathersealing, regardless of wether you have a weathersealed lens, and weathersealed body, Canon still states the setup is not 100% weatherproof without a somewhat tightly mounted filter, just pointing it out :)
Also, a question.
I have the 70-200 L f/4, I cannot afford a 400m or above regardless of how much I would love to, would a teleconverter be sufficient ? (Probably have to rent it nonetheles
By any chance, do you know how large the 60d can produce images without getting all pixelated? I currently have one + 70-200 2.8 lenses but never tested it out
Hi, a few questions: Is the 1s mark 2 any good? Can it shoot high iso's without looking all pixelated? How large can you enlarge it's images before you see pixels? Finally,do you recommend a 400 f5.6 lens?
Do you think a used 1d mark 3 would be good? And also, how much resolution do you think a 60d would be able to produce without getting all pixelated? Oh sorry one more question, how do you check to see your camera's resolution quality?
I tried the 70-200 f2.8 and liked the versatility but i`m thinking of buying a 135mmf2.0 plus a 1.4X converter, when i want that reach (almost 189...).
It´s lighter and don´t get much attention for my travels.
I guess if you are into sport photography the 70-200 zoom is great.
400 2.8 is $7,300... How much do you make with sports photography that you could afford all this stuff? Im a fashion photographer but im just curious.
@Miscellaneousviidz I shoot a lot of weddings and senior/family portraits too so sports is about 20% of my business with weddings around 30% and seniors/family at 50%
@justinuriahphoto Wow thats amazing, i knew a photographer who made $5000 for 1 wedding, that makes me want to get into that, lol im only 16 though. Do you have a facebook?
@punnu5997 I've never used 3rd party so I can't give an opinion there. I've always stuck with the same brand for everything. One thing I've learned is to never skimp on glass. If you have to save so be it. At least then you can rest knowing you have the best that money can buy. That's one of the reasons I buy "L" series glass. It's the best that Canon has to offer.
@justinuriahphoto Sweet. I'm needing to upgrade bodies quite terribly. I just started shooting sports for an online publication in my hometown.
I'm currently using a Rebel XSi - shooting sports with that thing is a hell that I wouldn't wish on anyone (3 frames per second).
Do you think I'd be better off with a 1D Mk IIn, a 1D Mk III, or a 7D? I can get them all used between $800-$1500, I just didn't know which you think would be the best camera for that price range.
@c7589 The build quality of the 1d series is the reason I chose it over any other model. I shoot a lot of demanding gigs and sometimes shooting in the pouring rain. I can shoot with confidence knowing my camera will hold up. Most all new cameras have the same ability to take beautiful images. Again the difference for me is build quality. I've had 30d & 20d & 5d models before and they feel like plastic toys to me. 1d series feels like one big solid piece of steel. hope that helps.
thanks for sharing this video, and the comments on how you diversify your income. It is always interesting to learn from a Pro.

why the 2.8, when using outside?? will you not get good images with 4.5/5.6 being outside with good light?

@supersabre69 You can always stop down while still using the beautiful glass :)
