Emily and Hal have a lot of history together. He was a good husband for her, even Susan thought so. I wish Emily and Hal could have had a child together, though. Sure Hal conceived 4 children and is the fatherly figure of Jennifer, but Emily only has one child, with Tom. And Tom and Emily don't really share a deep connection, they just share a child.

Well a least there is Ali...Lol I know with all the men Emily has been with Hal has been the best not doubt about it...I miss Hal!!
