  • @Anonymous07310731 No I'm not. You wouldn't paint the Mona Lisa on a regular piece of paper, would you? No, you would use the best quality canvas you could. While every girl DOES have natural beauty, face it, some women are prettier than others.

  • i soooo love myself :X

  • Deswegen erkennt man Models auch kaum in normalen Leben :))

  • @911newsmagazin haha! ach so!

  • everything is a lie

  • First off, I will say that this woman does have natural beauty. Secondly I will say that the makeup was well done. Thirdly I will say that, yes, models do look different without their makeup, as everyone does, but agencies hire them for their eye color, hair, figure, and such to have a good 'canvas' to paint a masterpiece.

  • @Staffie1995 I agree.

  • @Staffie1995 Are you kidding?!?! Im not saying that that girl wasn't pretty...she was but you're missing the entire part of the video! its to show us that we are all pretty and we shouldn't be self conscious because of the media because most of its fake.

  • fugly pink skinned bitch

  • @Mcree114 just to turn that on its head.. what about the girl who is naturally skinny and is made to feel like less of a woman because "it's all about the curves" now? Skinny definitely doesn't equal beautiful but I think there should be more emphasis on women learning to accept and appreciate the body that they have and not be pigeon-holed into the latest desirable shape.

  • @steffibee12345 to call a slim woman skinny is like calling a curvy woman fat. Both are equally insulting if that person has issues gaining or losing weight. I am a curvy girl... Call me fat IDGAF because I know I'm a beautiful person. But I have 3 or 4 slim girls that when I first met them I thought "skinny bitches" and then found out they cannot gain weight no matter how much they try, they wanted my figure, my boobs, my butt but it just wasn't happening for them.

  • They made her look ugly!!

  • She looks fine in the first 20 seconds, she doesn't need photoshop. -.-

  • then why are modeling agencies soo picky if they just "edit" the models faces???? so drastically

  • @pickstar1494

Because there is only so much you can do. They usually look for eye color, body figure, shape of the face, and/or hair. I was asked a few years ago, but turned them down. Between me being more of a tomboy and seeing how fake those woman are I didn't want anything to do with that life.

  • Why do we even need models when they just change everything about women in photoshop?

  • The Flashbulb song here is just amazing ..

  • @Mcree114 what's wrong with ten year old boys?

  • she was prettier w/out the makeup

  • that women isnt real!

  • Sadly 12 people must have to do this to themselves to feel pretty...

  • WTF is wrong with this world? A woman can't even feel good about herself because she compares her self to women who don't even exist!

  • This is so FALSE being a model myself, I know other models, and yes they edit, and air brush but to totally enhance someone the way this video did would boost the agency costs through the roof, producers dont want to have to do all this work its time consuming. which is why its so hard to get represented my Elite, Ford, Next etc.. dont believe me? go to the next open call and see if they accept you, and once they deny you ask them to just Photoshop you.

  • imagine how bad an ugly and fat girl would look at the first step

  • i saw this in the documentary- America the Beautiful- i really think yous should watch it, its very eye-opening and wonderfully made!!! for real. :)

  • love it, what was the website they used??

  • The make-up part is real, if a bit exaggerated, but I know for a fact they do not go through that much Photoshop with the high-fashion super models. The only place where they do that might be in catalogues with less well-known models, and even that's a bit rare. But maybe the film needed to be this exaggerated if it wanted to get its point across.

  • Check my blog out where I talk about this video and many other beauty related topics!! Link to my blog is on my channel!!

    :) xx

  • Interesting to see how distorted our perception of beauty can really be!

  • Our class watched this in a Biology Lesson :)

    Wow . . .

  • scary.

  • The media is all about airbrushing and looking unhumanly beautiful, its not real life but thats just what it is and you gotta except it

  • @missmuseyWho says you have to accept it?

  • What if you're already so good looking that any photoshop would only deter from your beauty?

  • she never smiles

  • She just needs to cover up her pimples and then she'll be fine. People have natural beauty but yet the media still photoshops them ...

  • I love the way the do her hairr(:

  • We saw this in health 2day! Amazing!!

  • what is that song?!?!

  • how about instead of getting normal looking people && making them look like bratz dolls you get naturally beautiful women or accept the others for their normality. no one looks perfect y r u trying to create an artificial face?

  • id date her at 0:11 at the end forget about it

  • I'd fuck the airbrushed version of her.

  • Agree!

  • Wasn't it pretty enough at 0:35?

  • ITS NOT DOVE! dove has much different idea for identity... compare dove ads with for example nivea...

By the way I think its easier to find really nice chick than painting a girl in photoshop...

  • wow i agree every girl dose need to see this it is amaizing and shows modals are not perfect look at the make up adds n the mags they look perfect but its not them !!!!!! love who you are there is only one you so work it :))

  • every girl in the world needs to see this. beauty is only skin deep to most, but people need to look inside themselves and be proud of who they are to truly obtain beauty.

  • @unemployedforever thats the point. SHE ALREADY IS STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL. so why the fuck are they retouching.. its bullshit. point blank.

  • I like women who have curvves and meat on their bones in the right places. Not models airbrushed so much they look like 10 yr old boys with a women's head. :P

  • @Mcree114 Some women naturally look that way. You don't have to put some women down to glorify others. Love them all <3

  • Oh wow.

Buying and using Dove products will make (!!!!!) me more natural. Also, using Dove products, I can look down on all other people who still are stuck in an infinity loop made of their beliefs in unattainable beauty expectations. Using Dove products will free me and enlighten me of what true beauty is, the second I buy it in the store. Oh yeah, using Dove will make me better than everyone else.

All hail Dove, masters of beauty.

    ..Not.

  • amazing!!!!!!

  • I liked the before version better. People that have been photoshopped to hell look so artificial.

  • dude this was awesome!!!!!

does anyone know what this song is? I like it

  • bloody hell!

  • the girl looked pretty enough with just the make-up,it was freaky when they made her neck bigger!

  • tradgic, even the most good looking people think they're ugly wtf is everyone else surposed 2 feel?

  • @TuRdSandwitch18 herdy gerdy

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!! Thank you Dove! I will be sharing it everywhere!

  • wow how inspiring

From now on, i will now use Dove soaps and bodywashes to cleanse my body rather than my usual Dial bodywash.

  • this is one of the most ispiring videos. seriously, if modeling acgencys want to always photoshop girls that are alreay pretty but they are just blind might as well just use computers to show frikkin fake picture of unbeliveable photes of girls

  • i just knew it!

  • that is seriously messed up!

  • wow. she doesn't even look like that at all !

  • This is some messed up shit!

But I know it's SO true! But soooo messed up!

  • This video is to show everyone that people in advertisements aren't real, that the photo people edit their faces to make them look unbelievably good. NO ONE REALLY LOOKS LIKE THIS UNTIL THEY PUT PILES OF MAKEUP ON

  • either that or to tell guys not to be shallow lol

  • I can't believe the amount of bad spellers are on this comment list.

Go bak 2 skool kidz n stop texting.

  • omg thats so weird

  • wow. and to think i've been comparing myself to computer made images. she was gorgeous in the original photo.

  • after the photoshop thing, her neck looked all weird...

  • Wow great video. I really like the tune that starts at 11 seconds in too. Is that part of an actual song?

  • The song is called Passage D by The Flashbulb.

  • Good point, Levyrat. Dove (Unilever) ain't some charitable organization.

The model was more beautiful before.

There is no scientifically objective, logically consistent definition of beauty,

    of course.

  • true true :D

but we have to realeis that the issue of beauty lies not with our attraction to images of baeuty or with women's desire to emulate them, but with what we've come to define as baeutiful: bodies faces that are unatural fake and skinny .

i think that the normal everyday people we see should be the image seen as beautifull not fake ones done on photoshop.

  • your scum. you watch an thing with this kinda messge and you say that!

  • eh' omg!

sorry this fucking gets on my nerves sharing my youtube account, really sorry guys, i watched this and i think it sent a great message to people who want to look like girls in magazines, sorry again :/

  • She looked better without the photoshopping.

  • yeah i agree. with photoshop she looked unhuman!

  • wow

  • AHHHHHHH! It is like the Star Trek film where they pull peoples faces and stretch them.

    Wow.

  • how interesting

  • hahahahahahaha

    WHAT?????

  • Good

  • Everyone, please overlook/maintain naivete about the fact that dove is owned by the parent company (Unilever) that owns Axe deodorant.

They're playing us consumers on both ends to make a little coin. But please, stay ignorant so they can maximize their money off us.

  • That's true, Axe and Dove are the same company. But this is original: good advertising for men and for women... and how to make money modifying their minds...

  • Dove may be owned by Parent Company Unilever, but who is to say that the marketing intentions of Dove aren't true to life, they do have a sound basis in reality.

Unilever is a massive transnational corporation and Dove is just one of the many companies under it's belt. Dove is the one company who is trying to do some good in the world and change how the world views body image, and you criticize them.

  • good work champ. i agree :)

  • it not always go that way now everyone think it dos

  • that girl is my librarians friend:]

  • omg, that's sad! : 3

  • Cool

  • that is coooooolllll!!!

    /l、

    (゚、 。 7

    l、 ~ ヽ .

    じしl_, )ノ

    kittah say what!

  • omfg wow i never knew that they could do that much stuff just to look pretty

  • thats really sad

  • Yes it's so real, with photoshop and make up it's easy to be beautiful

  • does anyone know the name of this song?

  • I don't think that was the most convincing example..

  • loved it.

  • This video goes to show beauty Is only in the eye of the beholder.

  • coud you imagine sitting iun tha chair for however many hours that takes

  • she doesn't look like a supermodel, even after all the retouching

  • i think it looks awful with that big eyes

  • I love this video!!! Everyone needs to know that nobody is perfect! She was beautiful they way she was before they did all that to her... Thanks for the video...

  • Even the most beautiful of girls go through the similar process of the "image making machine"

  • The model already has strong features, I think she only needed make-up and that's it...

  • whats the song???

  • Amazing!! o__O I am impressed! I did not expect they would do that much to make a ociture "perfect"!!

    Thanks for the upload!

  • yeh but thats just one example. there are actually beautiful girls without any makeover.

  • and yet, girls still obsess about becoming "beautiful." just like all these models..

  • the enlargening of the eyes did absolutly nothing for it. She looked better before.

  • what's the name of song in background??

  • waw.. this video really says a lot! just goes to show that nobody is perfect!

  • sweeet... i wish my photoshop did that.

  • The girl wasn't very beautiful but after, she was beautiful, i thinkt that is not correct. so all want to be so beautiful how she...

  • This is what id like to do when i get over, not model, I have photoshop and im got at eyes and skin but not as good as a professional...it would be nice =]

  • that's amazing

  • true but you can see its her so its still the face ;)

  • That lady was not what I view as beautiful both before and after all of what they did to her.

  • i wouldve banged her as is

  • wow thats pretty cool

  • C pas pour vou faire chier mai moi jaurai pas besoin dautan de retouche !! dieu ma gâter!

  • I gave you a top rating and really dig the idea, but promotion of a beauty product corporation is a little bit against the whole You Tube rules is it not?

  • that is so trueee.

  • soooooooooooo true

  • Quand je me regarde je me désole, quand je me compare je me console...

  • i love this clip. Dove has an awesome campaign. i love their "real beauty" commercials

  • this was beatiful

  • models dont need a lot 'less' work. most models dont look that good.. i know a few.lol

  • Brilliant. Thank you for showing us how fake beauty really can be.

  • BOIN U DA MAN

  • As Veqtor said, music is by the Flashbulb, one of the most skilled musicians alive right now.

Check his music, he's on Sublight Records, look it up :)

No idea where the "Music was composed at Vapor Music Group, Toronto." cause it's bullshit, maybe somebody edited it there because the track is slightly different but the music IS the Flashbulb's. Kirlian Selections is being re-released because of this video, check it out.

  • Vapor is an agency which Flashbulb composes for, so their website says.

  • Interesting, sorry bout that -- sounds like we might be seeing more interesting projects from him in the future!

  • Hope you like our spoof, feel free to send far and wide, comment, and rate :-)

  • That was awesome.

  • sonuvideos, music was by the flashbulb, it's passage d from kirlian selections

  • Ha ha

I kinda hate dove for supporting Aanimal tezting but this is a good video

  • Kudos to Dove. I like how they have been using average women for their commercials.

  • Editing was done by Paul Gowan at Rogue, Toronto. Animation was done by Kevin Gibson at Soho Post, Toronto. Graphics were developed by Eric Makila, Bob Zagorskis.

Photographer was Gabor Jurina. Retoucher was Edward Cha. Makeup artist was Diana Carreiro.

Music was composed at Vapor Music Group, Toronto.

  • levyrat: yep

  • Do you really not see how Dove is capitalizing on those very emotions? The fact that they touched on a social issue while making the not-so-perfect people (read: almost all of us) feel avenged is nothing more than good marketing.

  • True, they're in it to boost sales, and there's not likely any altruistic intent on the company's part. However, it's still a good lesson for the public.

  • Every girl in this world must see this.

  • wow....thats pretty crazy..its good that people can see this tho....girls should realize that not all those models look as good as the end results....

  • this is great. i watched it on the official website but i couldn't get it onto youtube. thanks for posting.

  • anyone know who does the music for this. its a great video!

  • lol

  • and then we wonder why young girls are so worried about "looking good"...amazing how distorted things can become

  • I believe we are born with a certain inner attraction for ideals in beauty. Our modern obsession with a certain ideal in beauty, both for men and women, is not due to popular cultural dictates. It go's much deeper then we realize.

  • Our desire to see the end result model is not completely the fault of social influence or conditioning. Tests have been conducted using babies 6 to 12 months old, male and female and in 90 to 95% of the studies the babies stared longer at the beautiful faces then the commen more average ones

  • There are women in this world who are born looking like the end result of this models tranformation. The long slender neck, the larger eyes, the more smooth and narrow jaw line and fuller lips.

  • i hate the fact that these women have people "changing' their features because they think it looks better. real beauty is found on the inside.

  • 'true beauty' won't sell aunty-aging cream.

  • Thank you Dove for this video! I'll be showing it to my young daughter so she realize's that most models undergo some major overhauling to achieve a look. It's unrealistic to try to emulate them. I actually see it as an ART - the model is really just a canvas in the end. I'd love to know the cost of the whole process? Craziness!!!

  • Finally, a comment that illuminates the real issue: why aren't more parents and teachers guiding our children to be self-confident and happy with who they are.

  • The point is that women with teams of make-up pros, hair designers, and post processing artists are being portrayed as "normal" and real women are then held to an unrealistic standard of beauty.

Since most of us don't have a team to do our hair and make-up in the morning, the odds of looking as good as models are close to nill.

  • Any guy that expects the average women to look like that has some serious psychological issues.
