The make-up part is real, if a bit exaggerated, but I know for a fact they do not go through that much Photoshop with the high-fashion super models. The only place where they do that might be in catalogues with less well-known models, and even that's a bit rare. But maybe the film needed to be this exaggerated if it wanted to get its point across.

Dove may be owned by Parent Company Unilever, but who is to say that the marketing intentions of Dove aren't true to life, they do have a sound basis in reality.
Unilever is a massive transnational corporation and Dove is just one of the many companies under it's belt. Dove is the one company who is trying to do some good in the world and change how the world views body image, and you criticize them.

Thank you Dove for this video! I'll be showing it to my young daughter so she realize's that most models undergo some major overhauling to achieve a look. It's unrealistic to try to emulate them. No idea where the "Music was composed at Vapor Music Group, Toronto." cause it's bullshit, maybe somebody edited it there because the track is slightly different but the music IS the Flashbulb's. Kirlian Selections is being re-released because of this video, check it out.

Do you really not see how Dove is capitalizing on those very emotions? The fact that they touched on a social issue while making the not-so-perfect people (read: almost all of us) feel avenged is nothing more than good marketing.

I believe we are born with a certain inner attraction for ideals in beauty. Our modern obsession with a certain ideal in beauty, both for men and women, is not due to popular cultural dictates. It go's much deeper then we realize.

Our desire to see the end result model is not completely the fault of social influence or conditioning. Tests have been conducted using babies 6 to 12 months old, male and female and in 90 to 95% of the studies the babies stared longer at the beautiful faces then the commen more average ones

Thank you Dove for this video! I'll be showing it to my young daughter so she realize's that most models undergo some major overhauling to achieve a look. It's unrealistic to try to emulate them. I actually see it as an ART - the model is really just a canvas in the end. I'd love to know the cost of the whole process? Craziness!!!

The point is that women with teams of make-up pros, hair designers, and post processing artists are being portrayed as "normal" and real women are then held to an unrealistic standard of beauty.
Since most of us don't have a team to do our hair and make-up in the morning, the odds of looking as good as models are close to nill.
