Depends on what jurisdiction you are in, the times the gun is drawn is whenever he was attacking with a deadly weapon (blade).

Of course actuals encounters would need to be viewed in contact with law and SOP. Around the world ether are all variations of baton uses. And not all of them are designed nonlethal. The beauty of the baton lies in it´s use within the force continuum from deescalating to lethal. Please see part 2

Lots of departments I teach allow for lethal use of the baton when otherwise a shooting would be justified. On the other hand some do not allow for deploying it, unless you are physically attacked with a weapon. Using a baton is much more than just hitting the thigh. And rest assured we DO teach using the baton appropriate. But t the legal aspect of it is a long part of the training, and requires not only looking at the attack, but also circumstances to evaluate the way of deploying. ...

Do I think it is dangerous to show? No, because it is a clip in the internet. Question though. When you use the extended baton to jab in a stabbing motion, what keeps it from collapsing? I had some (cheap) extendable nunchucks and I had to return them because it was too difficult to keep them extended.

I came to the FMA by using short impact tools first, then blade and then baton. So it was only natural for me using the baton closed much more than expanded. All my teachers are more concepts-oriented than technique focused. If one trains and thinks, this is what comes out. So no copy. Sorry. Stay Safe

the baton isnt the real weapon, its just a tool. the officer is the real weapon. its all eye candy and looks great here understand these are highly skilled professionals. the average street officer, unless they practice thru this qualified instructor, AND on their own for many hours...years even, will not be able to pull this material off in an actual street situation. However, I do like the FMA applications and innovative and forward thinking of this company. looks SO cool!

Without watching him dealing with multiple assailants it's difficult to say how he'd deal with them, most likely in a far more direct manner. The spinning etc. is demonstrating proficiency and skill with the baton.

Many of you guys just watch and comment negatively on this video I am a trained baton expert. Most of the time on the streets, when the bad guy hit you once and you start to go fast and all out on the person, he will not attack any longer but instead will try to block and defend himself. In a fight with weapon, people that are not trained do not know how to attack aggressively.

I just bought this baton from deensideusa. It is an absolute marvel of engineering. It opens with an action that's as smooth as silk, and closes just about the same way. It's hefty but highly maneuverable. Prior to this, I used an ASP Airweight, Leverloc baton. And it now seems absolutely crude and junky by comparison.
