the definition came to life when they saw the similarities in the countries on the scandinavian peninsula (norway and sweden) and the southern region to it (denmark).
norway, sweden and denmark has a lot in common, the same germanic people, same language, history (vikings etc) and culture.

wasn't talking about today, was talking about when the term scandinavia first came to life, and that you have a different history and culture back then.
today western countries are so alike it's hard to pinpoint the differences.
alle the north are related in some way (except finland), the vikings travelled together so its more likely than not that they mixed, and before that they came from the same place as one people.
i hope the north strengthen its bonds, lets just hope the swedes teaches the finns scandinavian ^^
And the people living in Faroe Islands are not Danish!! it´s old norse people from old viking Norway, a little bit of scotish mixed with it as well.
Vikings from Norway had large parts of Scotland, they were mixing up with the locals in scotland. Some people emigrated from scotland up to Faroe Islands and Iceland, thats why icelanders and Faroe Islanders have some scotish blood in them.
But some went directly from Norway to Iceland and Faroe Islands. Some realy great seafarers.

Finland was a part of Sweden for nearly 700 hundred years and a part of Russia for about 100 years, and during the Russian ages Finland was rather an autonomic state than a province. Thus it is very strange to claim that Finland hasn't ever had close connections to "the three kingdoms", especially to Sweden :) Finland isn't basically part of Scandinavia, well maybe a part of Scandinavian Peninsula from the northwest.
