so he's the one who dances backwards (mcBRIDE). no wonder he's so focussed on gaiety hahahahh.
"are you embarrassed about brushing your teeth?"
has to be the question of the century. my answer: "yes, i'm filled with shame..but i masturbate furiously in the frozen food section of the supermarket and couldn't care less..go figure". ;)
I don't know why people say theres a such thing a stupid question. Interviewers are our gateway into finding out what our idols think about certain things. I think off the wall questions are interesting. They show a different part of the persons character. If the journalists of the world didn't ask these random questions, we would never know.
But thank you! It's lovely to see a BND interview, it seems like that era is totally lost nowadays.
I reckon the interviewer has a tad of a kiwi eccent. That's why he can't say "homosexual" LOL. WTF? Makeup? Do you clean your teeth? Wish you'd post this one in it's entire form for a big laugh.
i don't think even the prize idiot of a journalist here can hide behind the so called machonous (have i just made up a new word?) of australian culture in the late 70s and early 80s...look at most interviews with The Boys, Birthday Party, Nick, Bad Seeds, Grinderman...it doesn't matter what era...it seems stupidity is a pre-requisite to being a journalist
I love Nick in interviews, however he must be a bit of a handful to most mainstream journalists (although to be fair they are mostly mindless idiots). I get the impression that he'll only talk candidly to someone he trusts or likes, like John Peel (I don't even know if they were ever in conversation, if they were, I'd love to see/hear that)
I am not about to make excuses for the journalist in this clip (and yes, those were some extremely stupid questions).
But don't forget - Australian culture is very "macho" and (especially in 1979) the Boys and their behavior would have seemed very odd to the general public indeed.
is there a longer version of this interview?, if so I'd really like to see it :). Because this obviously looks like a little part of the interview. P.S Nick looks so young!!

You know, the more I think about it, the more irritated I am by this interviewer.
I mean, really. What a question.
Did he think Anita and Genevieve were just groupies, or something? Sheesh.
