  • I wonder if they taste like chicken.

  • @everyone

There are two main species of Prairie Chicken, the Greater and Lesser, which are both classified as vunerable (1 step above endangered), and have dwindling populations in all states through the middle of America, but there are more than 12 males of these.

However, the subspecies of the Greater, Attwater's Prairie Chicken, lived mostly in TX and was almost completely wiped out.

Bottom line: None of these birds should be shot.

  • Great video!

I musat ask, are these chickens leagal to own? Or do you need a permit to have/breed them.

  • there are more than 12 male prairie chickens left.. I assure you.

  • i HATE it when people kill off beautiful and rare species like this! i love the prarie chicken! last year i heard there were like 12 males left; idk about females >.< T-T

  • it look rabbits !!!

  • why cant you buy them is it illegal?

  • no, probably not, these are critically endangered species, only a handful left in Illinois due to farming. Scientists are working hard to save the remnant population but its really hard when you only have a few left...

  • @koreanpride888 -aprilspl asks if you can buy some...Koreanpride888 comments "they are critically endangered in Illinois. There are 50 other states and several states you can legally hunt them and they are not endangered, Nebraska being one of them.

Just because you know something to be true in one state does not mean in applies to the other 49.

  • Man, I wish you could buy Prarie Chickens!

  • HAHAHAHAHA looks like its dancing

    XD

  • can you hunt them

  • Yes, The bag limit in kansas is 1 or 2. They're pretty rare tho arieal predators take a toll on them but there beautiful birds and very cool to hunt

  • LifeOfConner:

When I think something is beautiful, I try my best NOT to kill it.

  • wait what???? i thought there was less than 100 of these things left?

  • I believe that you are thinking ofd the Attwater's Prairie Chciken.. They have been puished to the brink by land developers ENGULFING the Katy prairie, just west of Houston... but these are incredible birds and I hope that they can come back from the habitat loss
