Her Hard-Lunatic mid-boss spell card looks almost exactly like Sara's last spell,. Sara being the first boss of Mystic Square, that may be what you were thinking of Kogasa is similar in appearance to Yuka, and Murasa is similar in appearance to Chiyuri from touhou 3, Byakurens fourth spell cards is identical to Shinki's.

and Nue's appearance as a ball of light midboss on stages 4 and 6 is similar to the stage 2 midboss of Mystic Square. Yuka also turned into a ball of light during her battle in Lotus Land Story. I'd say UFO is ZUN's answer to fans asking to bring back more PC 98 characters
