I got in contact with one of his original members, and thanked him for what they have done for me, and I also told him that because of it, they had inspired me to be a singer, and he told me to copyright my songs, send him a demo, and he would refer me to a company in Nashville. I have two videos on youtube under "Kenny Dobbins 001" and "Kenny Dobbins 003." I even have an account on facebook, and have a group called "Kenny Dobbins Forever."
Johnny Cash was music therapy for me by his recordings for my Autism, and because of it I am high functioning and have accomplished like graduated mainstream on the AB honor roll from high school, and taking care of my own money, and business. I even have a chance for a major recording contract.
completely agree, Richard. I'd forgotten that he adds some Sonny Terry style 'whoops' in there as well. How absolutely great was this? One of my favourite versions of OBS... This should be on a CD.
He's not. He's a bona fide American from the Chicago area. You're not getting him :) He's become quite the fixture at SPAH..although I'm sure he'd be most happy to be welcomed at NHL, since he's already shared a stage at our conventions here with Donald Black...(boy that was good stuff): Winslow Yerxa, Tony Eyres, Donald, James, Paul Davies...I'm probably leaving someone out. SPAH 2005, if I'm not mistaken. It's just one big harmonica world, on both sides of 'the pond'. :)
Hey great video James well done Johnny Cash would be proud. I was thinking aswell that it would be great if you did it on a train while it's running down the line. You know them old fashioned trains where they have those big sort of metal house trucks that they carry with them and the big metal door to hop in the truck. Like ok you play while the door is open behind you of the truck and is running with the train while it's through fields etc. Could be an idea but anyway well done keep playing.
Absolutely amazing! The dissonant and slightly dark plucking on the guitar a fantastic compliment to the harp work! 5*****! Many many thanks for this version... gives me something to work for!!!
WHooo! I've never heard it played this way...just one harp and accompaniment (guess I'm too used to the Charlie McCoy multiple harp version)...so was quite blown away. REeeeeeallly nice! I'm used to hearing you play the Irish/Scots songs...this is quite a sweet change. Thanks!
