vaporman23 I'am glad to hear your happy with your tv, but the problem I have is I'am in no way happy with the 46 inch toshiba regza 46rv530u i have and hundereds of other x toshiba customers have... you see, the ones manufactured in 08 by toshiba of this model had defective t-com boards in them, causing the panel to crap out, ,as latter find out, toshiba is not going to send parts to fix the problems. They will do nothing till legally forced to, So my advice DONT BUY A TOSHIBA LCD..

I have this model as exact 42 in Toshiba Regza 1080p almost two years so far. I never have a single problem with it.. It was perfectly and greatest with blu ray movies. I watch it most time. Also the sound went very well and clearly. Even I use internet on it everyday and switch to Xbox 360 games. I switch whatever i want to do.. It has precisely . I glad that i brought it as perfect product.

wow, i can't beleve they still sell tv's , mine lasted just over a year, turned it on to watch the game and i got screen full of multi color vertical lines that fill the whole screen, they are throw away tvs, paid fn over $1100 for that pice of Sh,,,it , What ever you do dont buy a toshiba......

If the screen is fucked up get a warrenty and if you don't got that sell to someone who'll fix it. Also Flat panel TVs have suck ass speakers. Thats why you get Speakers for them. Lol my shitty tube TV can use my HD speakers.

no you need an audio cable going into the t.v stereo jack from your pc soundcard/headphone output.

vga(pc input) only carries video.

Get the 42RV535U ($890), it has the SRT feature (Super Resolution Technology) that basically upconverts any OTA SD (480i) signal to HD (720p, 1080i/p) format. And if you don't have a Blu-Ray player yet, but you have a big DVD collection; you could get the Toshiba XD-E500 ($87) upconverting DVD player which gives 80% HD quality out of your regular SD DVD (480i). That's a really nice combo if you don't want to expend a lot of money. HDTV + 1080p DVD Player + HDMI Cable, for less than $1000.

The Toshiba 42 cant do 14 bit. It can only do 10bit from what I have read. I am planning on buying one today.

It has a 14 bit processor, and an 8 bit display, which means it can process a total of 48 colors per pixel cluster a.k.a "sprite" (a technological term for a cluster of pixels, not a soda drink) A sprite is measured by 8x8 pixels or 8x16 pixels. In lamans terms- this is a good TV for the price. Is it as good as a Samsung or a Sony or comparable size and resolution?...No, but it is top of the line in the Mid-range of HDTV's

Not true... samsund has the highest consumer rating and is considered number one in flat panel lcd hdtv's....along with sony and LG. Of course a percentage of the extra cost is just for the name, but not completely the case. Samsung, LG and sony are made with much higher quality. They all have the lease amout of customer complaints and defects than any other brand... so the extra price is worth it. Not to mention the picture is always better with these brands.

your right. samusung has high consumer rating. but the question is what is the consumer looking for. samsung was one of the cheapest tv that you could get few years ago. my friend bought a samsung tv because it was one of the cheapest tv that he could get four years ago. for the picture quality that samsung was offering was good and my friend had to pay hundreds or even a thousand dollars to get other tv brand. if your looking for a decent quality, samsung is good. LG has a low PQ by the way.

only the HDMI ports on the regza go 1080p I believe, you can get em cheap on amazon.

so u saying for regza need to use HDMI to use 1080p? but i ran 1080p on my ViewSonic N3250W with component cables but not work on regza. also, i can't go 1920X1080 with VGA cable? do i need a better cable or what?? VGA cable should be good enough to run higher than 2000Xsomething resolution, so why isn't it working? please help!!!

Yeah man, I got the same deal at future shop. They gave me a 4 year warranty, the t.v (obviously), the HDMI cables i need for my ps3, and they also gave me a year of HD for free. It came to like $1500 CA. We've got the best of the best my friend..

yea. i got $5 HDMI cable for my PS3, $6 DVI to HDMI for PC running 1920x1080i. and $4 Optical audio cable and $300 Pioneer Amp. I'm happy with what I've got now. and 42" 1080i for $1450 with 4yrs warranty from Best Buy is pretty good to me. i don't see any on sale for this TV yet. quality is perfect. but one thing I'm not happy, it doesn't have PIP nor POP. i don't really need but it's better to have it. my equipment total is around $2000. Good enough to satisfied my whole family and my friends.
