I was at this game Saturday night and it was a lot of fun. I thought both teams looked a little unorganized and pretty chippy in the opening minutes. After the Sioux scored their first goal that wasn't disallowed they really picked up their play and got better as the game went on. MSU didn't. It's only the first game of the season, but I think UND really made a statement in this game and if they're going to be NCAA champs, this year is looking to be the best chance thay've had in a while.
same here, they seem to get in the way more than anything else. and i worry about certain teams that like to fake falling to get calls. (everyone who plays the sioux)
That is what I am concerned about too. It seemed to me that there were a couple of times in the game where the refs were in the way of the players. One of the refs wiped out on the ice during the game - it was pretty funny.
no doubt und has a strong team, but this mainly shows how much of a fluke MSU's national title run was. Michigan should have been in the midwest regional, and msu in the west. There's no way msu would have stopped und or minn's offense. Also lil' lerg was really playing up to his size.
The 5-minute major was "given" (as in a reaming) -- not "taken." However, lest I sound like a whiny Gopher fan, I wouldn't call ending your season at the Frozen Four three years in a row "not finishing great." The Drive for 8 continues here in Fighting Sioux Country!

I am still not too sure about the policy of putting four refs on the ice.
