Do the bad guys the coast guard is intercepting after fire upon them? If so will the coast guard use lethal force or just leave and call for heavier fire power?
@Sanvorae The best analogy I can use to describe The Deployable Operations Group (DOG) would be comparible to the Dept. of Defense's (DOD)'s NSW, USASOC, MARSOC, AFSOC or NSW. Wherein it is a higher command for smaller "special-ized" units that deal with Counter-Narcotics, Anti-Terrorism, and Counter-Terrorism. All though the CG's DOG is not of a "Special Operations" command the CG needed an exclusive command structure to oversee units such as TACLET's /MSST's and THE MSRT
@Sanvorae and BTW, THE USCG is fairly new at this Special-ized concept so like all pioneering ideas, it'll have it's learning curves, hard times and it's SAR and Non-LE haters at least until respect is earned. SO get in, Graduate Boot, go to A-school and make PO3 toget your foot in the door... Good luck!
@ThaBR33D No, once you're in the Coast Guard you apply for it. Although it may have changed with the introduction of the ME rating. I think you just apply and if youre accepted you go to the week long school.
My father did this once, don't know what unit, but Petty Officer 1st class Meason 1960-1990.

Is deployable operations, a specific RATE? I cannot find it in the list of rating given by military. com or gocoastguard. com
