  • over here in uk a subadult b.smithi I've seen is £90.00 ,I got my one with whole setup at the bts fair for £60.00 and I was sent free 2 curly hair slings and a 8 month juvi.

maybe joining the bts website might help you get breeding and it's free.

  • @johnbc62 im not from the uk. thats what i like about uk, us, canada. the tarantulas there are cheaper. a £60.00 will only get you 1 3-4 incher here.

  • I see that you are from the Philippines so i wonder if you have a Selnobrachys philippinus in your collection?

  • no i dont. i only keep new world species since i am new to the hobby. i had a p. baeri before though. but it got away and sneaked into a crack. lol.

by the way, i do agree that slings are not much worth it. but here a sling already costs almost $20 for foreign breeds. my 1 inch b. smithi cost me almost $30. local breeds are cheaper though.

  • Wow thats expensive, an adult B. smithi female costs about 45 bucks here in Sweden.

For my adult fem G. grossa i payed aprox 50 bucks but m sure the petshops have other prices =)

  • 45 bucks here can get you a juvenille-sized smithi. roseas are cheaper here though. they are common.

  • @JensTwn no, i dont keep local breeds, they are a lot more feisty than new world breeds. i used to have a phlagaelus baeri though.

  • Eggsack yet?

  • naaah, i dont think id be getting any albo eggsacks anytime soon. that female just amputated my male's right leg and pedipalp. i dont know if it will be safe for him to mate again.

  • Hmm they say that B. albopilosum is one of the easiest ones to breed.

Introduce the male to her terrarium and have her well fed before is all that takes from what i have heard.

Im gonna breed my large female for the first time next week so i really hope it will be successful.

  • yep they are fairly easy to breed. he even had the same female gravid before only she molted and absorbed the eggs. i've checked all the necessary precautions for both male and female. only the female went agressive and decided to attack him. i think the female is just not in the mood. she is fresh from a molt though which is the best time to mate since they are most fertile during that.

  • Nice video. Another species on my wish list. Looked like she had enough at the end there. Best of luck to you.

  • thanks. my male is a noobie. but he managed to get the female gravid. just waiting for an eggsack now.

  • thanks. i hope i hope. i really want slings! lol. it could jump-start my collection. i already got a list of the species i wanna get. just docile and handlable ones. brachys, aphonos, grammos and avics if im lucky.

  • looked successful there
