I love this sketch, because it encapsulates conservative media criticism so well, no matter where you are, or what decade you're talking about. Conservative media critics always accuse the media of liberal bias, mainly because the journalists accused of being liberal use these annoying things called "facts", which conservatives like to ignore or interpret to suit their agenda.
I saw a small peice a mounth ago or so where a bbc woman was spending time with a terror unit of hamas to cover there new offencive,of corse they wernt called terrorists they were called freedom fighters !!!!!
@jacksawild How would me being christian (which im not) have anything to do with the BBC calling hamas freedom fighters ? 3/ How typicaly liberal of you to side step the issue and attempt to discredit me with something that clearly has no affect on the topic at hand .Maybe if i were jewish and my book was the torah youd make sense but as of now you clearly dont sir .
@stevenpaddybwoy I see, and the part of your profile which say: "Movies:
black hawk down, and anything with muslims getting pwned" is yet more indication of your total lack of humanity, sir. I wish you could understand how ridiculous you seem to me.
@AidanLunn Im not retarded ? Ive NEVER seen a BBC peice about israel that isnt unbelievably biased against the jews ,most times the israelis arnt even given a platform to speak there corner.........JUST LIKE AL JEZEERA !!!! Now you get it ????
@stevenpaddybwoy Now, is that a genuine bias against the Jews or is it just the BBC not taking either side? I don't see them praising or slating either the Israelis or Palestinians!
And it's the Israelis who *don't want* to appear on TV!
Oh dear,i am so sorry. Best i get down to an islington chattering class dinner party an chastise myself whilst debating the works of Karl Marx...darling.
Ever read the Guardian comment pages? Hardly paragon of literacy and punctuation. Mostly mindless rants against evil Tories, nasty monarchists and monstrous Jews.
@Hamilcar275 I didn't say that are Guardian readers are a paragon of literacy. I merely pointed out that Stephen Fry and co. are more literate that m1a9r7k0. There are complete twats in every political group, which has been well established. Therefore why can we not just enjoy the humor?
Eye of the beholder I suppose... don't understand it myself. I've always thought of him as a cheaper version of Oscar Wilde, who indeed was a genius of the highest order. I remember a quote a few years back, referring to Stephen Fry as a 'stupid person's idea of what an intelligent man sounds like.' Just my two cents anyway, ignore them at your pleasure kind sir.
@Hamilcar275 Kind Miss thank you very much :) each to his (or her) own I suppose. But how does Stephen Fry remind you of Oscar Wilde? 'A trivial comedy for serious people'?
And out of interest, what manner of comedians do you prefer?
@m1a9r7k0 Actually this sketch was made when Marmaduke Hussey was BBC Chairman - when Mrs Thatcher was happy that the BBC was not peddling a left-wing agenda!
Oh dear. You've failed to see that Fry's satire is against the constant carping from right-wing foghorns that the BBC is a communist plot. He's making fun of the sort of tired remarks that get made. See Monty Python's 'father and son - writer/miner' sketch to understand the role reversal joke.
Saturday Night Fry! ♥ Oh, I love it so much!!! It's absolutely brilliantly outstandingly hilarious! Thanks for posting!

@stevenpaddybwoy You list your book as the bible. Are we to trust your unbiased opinion on this subject? Are you sure you're not retarded?

@stevenpaddybwoy How on Earth do you come to that insane conclusion?
Or are you just repeating a false claim from newspapers who'll make up anything about the BBC to damage it for their own commercial benefit?

I watched Stephen Fry attempt to play Oscar Wilde in a film several years ago.
Tommy Cooper, Monty Python, Mel Brooks ('don't get saucy with me Bernaise') etc. John Cleese is a talent.
