  • great review man. sub'd

  • Never mind i wasnt patient enough lol.

  • What color is that?

  • I was really convinced that I was going to get the Monsoon but now I think I will get this bag. Seems more organized and I have heard its more comfortable.

  • I got two years on mine and it looks brand new still. lol. Thanks for the vid. ~Wolf

  • very nice review. I found with a bad back, the gearslingers bother my back after a short while. A very nice product, have the sitka, but I need to stick with better support.

  • I use my Kodiak everyday for hauling my 17" laptop...it is a tight fit but works fine.

I have been using it for almost a year now...and love it.

Hauls my EDC stuff and laptop just fine.

    Draws some favorable comments!

I love the Gearslinger strap...easy on and off....works great!

  • @bigbuckaroo2 glad to hear it, thanks for the info

  • Excellent bag, and great review. That khaki-foliage coloration is real nice looking too. I hope you don't mind, I added a link to this video in the description of my recent video on it.

  • Did you EVER find a use for all of those extra pockets and attachment points? I'm a Kodiak owner, 6-8 months and happy, but I still don't know what some of them are for.

  • In the photos the multicam stood out more then the bag.

  • I made the mistake of buying a 17" laptop for my first laptop. Now I'm trying to find a bag for it along with my HK45c. Can a 17" laptop fit in the bag?

  • @coleslaw331 is it 17" diagonal? the larger laptop you saw in the video measures 15x10

  • @beast12101 Yes it's 17" diagonal. Hoping I can I really want to buy this bag.

  • @coleslaw331 what does it measure? I'll see if it fits

  • @beast12101 Sorry for the delay it is 17X10.8

  • @coleslaw331 the main compartment is 17x10, it'd be tight

  • @beast12101 Thanks.

  • Great review.

  • just thought I'd give you an update. I got one myself and after a little shopping you were right about the color too! Thanks again man. Best bag I've ever owned.

  • @bewaretheintertubes excellent

  • I did not like this bag as much as I thought that I would.

  • Hey there man. First off, best review I've seen for any of the maxped stuff. Also the pockets on the inner compartment, is that different from current models or still standard? I haven't spotted them on other reviews. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  • @bewaretheintertubes thanks, should be the same on all kodiaks

  • I want a Kodiak bag, a GoPro camera and a new bicycle.....

  • Great review, can never go wrong with maxpedition there like a good shoe tough at first but wears in very well. I have Proteus Versipack as a tool bag love it, any how you have me and a bud sold on getting the Kodiak. Plan on using it for day hikes & photography.

  • Hi, so I'm thinking about purchasing this bag, my only problem is with laptop size, I'm looking at getting a very large laptop and I don't know if it will fit. It's just a bit larger than the one you had in it, I was wondering; do you think it would still fit if the laptop was two inches longer (coming out of the side where you have that buckle to secure it)?

  • @evbunke2 the main area is 10x17

  • Beast! Let me first say that I enjoy your videos pretty much on all subjects. I just picked up a Sitka and as far as quality goes it is great but the room is just not there, I am thinking about sending it back and picking up a Kodiak for more room. I put a size 12 tennis shoes, a fleece shirt, a few small pouches, a small notebook with some papers and a few other small items it all did not fit. I ended up carrying the shoes...do you know the cubic inch of the kodiak? Looks like it will work.

  • @lawson863 kodiak is 1100cui compared to the sitka at 618, almost twice the capacity

  • @beast12101 Yeah I know but I contacted my rep and he said the kodiak is on a big back order from Maxpedition and his company has a lot on back order too. However, I did order one so it will be coming within the next few months, so for now I will keep the Sitka and use it. I did not realize that the Sitka was only 618, I also ordred the Lunada and I know it is 400 so both bags almost the same, I thought the Sitka was bigger and since it is the 3rd biggest n the gearslinger series it should be..

  • Any suggestions on a molle attachment for my Ipod classic and you thoughts on janus

  • @verblvik I havent tried the janus, but they have many phone pouches, the 5" should work with the iphone

  • no conceal carry?

  • @athruster i prefer not to share ;)

  • thanks for sharing your experience of long term usage of the Kodiak. I have just bought one and cant wait to use it, it's good to see a review update to show how sturdy the maxpedition stuff is. I nearly went for the Sitka but the Kodiak is a better size all round. I've put a Maxped M1 pouch on the back MOLLE and a small Roly-Poly on the side. Thanks again.

  • Holy schnikies, that's amassive laptop!

  • I am absolutely sold on Maxpedition. Once you have some you are hooked! I just wish that there was a local way in these part to buy it to avoid the shipping!

  • @AppalachianFreedom my jumbo, I got at a gun store, you might try there

  • @beast12101 -- Thank you sir. Unfortunately, around here you really cannot even find anyone that has heard of Maxpedition! I only stumbled on to it because of YouTube!

  • @beast12101 -- I actually got my first piece of Maxpedition gear by winning a contest on SurvivalistsBoards. I won the Tactical Operator Attache' -- I highly recommend it by the way!

  • @AppalachianFreedom my jumbo, I got at a gun store, you might try there

  • @AppalachianFreedom More and more online stores with great prices these days. Try Knifeworks - great flat shipping. Also you can go to Maxpedition store with promo codes. Search "maxpedition coupon codes".

  • @mrmonkeyman50 -- Thanks! I've found a few good deals like that. One of the best was the Active Shooter Bag through Amazon. It wound up being just a little more than half of retail. That makes shipping a little easier to swallow!

  • Nice Bro! What kind of strobe is that you clipped on the MOLLE?

  • @matt4270 its called planet bike, any old bike strobe would work

  • @beast12101 Thanks!

  • :53 Shows 7 liters of Balsamic and 5 gallons of oil for an EDC at work. Wow you must eat a lot of salad during the day !!!!!!!!!!:) Thanks for the follow up review, it's a great idea to revisit things like this to see how they've worn and held up to use.

  • @OliviaSST our restaurant offered specialty oil/vinegar on the table for our table bread, so about once a week I walked over to pick it up

  • yeah i found if i pack it over 20 pounds....felt uncomfortable over a few hour hike. But yeah...love it too man!

  • I ordered sitka now i feel like i Fu**ed up ; (

  • Loved mind too, very nice review and updated! Thanks to be around, love your channel!

  • I have a black Kodiak and love it. I also have a Mongo S-type, that due to being opposite shoulder of the Kodiak if needed I can double up with both bags comfortably. I have to say I love the Kodiak gearslinger function for riding buses etc. I have my bag packed out as an EDC/get home/BOB. It carries my EDC but has room for a few supplies for those emergency situations. Nice to see you come back and revisit a year after, really showing the duarbility of the bag. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the update, now I know I want one for my trip to India.

  • @Norton3139 sounds like fun

  • Great review! Is that the foliage green color? Or khaki-foliage? Couldn't quite tell. Thanks!

  • @sraike

    Khaki-Foliage

  • Awesome review beast, great bag. Where did you get the red strobe from?

  • Nice review. What SLR you have and what lenses you carry in that pack?

  • @Bushwhittler nikon d80, with the 2 it comes with, 18-55/50-200

  • MAXPEDITION MOD: Search "Custom Maxpedition Kodiak Modification" by cap6888

  • I carry this bag as well in OD . Love it , great vid keep it up

  • great job beast. I use a mongo for work/ day carry and like it. The only down fall is the bag is a little small for my laptop. The kodiak migh be something i could use though.

  • That is a nice bag and diggin' the color.

  • Im going to upgrade my BOB soon. The three companies Ive narrowed it down to is Maxpedition, Eberlestock, or Badlands gear. Ill do a vid on which one I get. Thanks for sharing!

  • @LegendSexy look into mysteryranch

  • @beast12101 Ok I will Thanks

  • Looks like a great pack. I wish gear companies would send me cool stuff to review. :-|

Now I need to find a new hobby to justify the purchase. HA!

  • it's a great pack! i put to much weight into mine and the bottom seem broke right behind the shoulder strap. i think the single strap style is more for light weight trips if you try to overload the pack it starts to put too much stress on the shoulder strap. my next pack is going to be a 3 strap pack i just carry way too much weight for 1 strap too handle it all!

  • Wow thanks for the 1 yr. later video. I just recently received my Kodiak and Sitka and Im doing a compare and contrast video on both bags. Im glad to see the Kodiak live through the harsh conditions you put it through. Keep up the good work on the videos.

  • Very nice pack. Thanks for showing.

  • great vid the strips can camo and again good shit

  • awesome vid bro thanks for sharing!!!!

  • Real nice job Beast ! Thanks

  • Cool mountain at the beginning! Great Packbag, cool with all this holders, great pictures and great review, bud : ) Thanks for showing and sharing. Happy Sunday Sepp

  • Smart idea to put your strobe/lights on the Kodiak !

  • love the clear details you give plus love the pure time and effort you put into using this bag to give a in depth review.

    cheers dude!

  • Great review.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Excellent video! I use a Jumbo for edc but I find it to be to small. You almost can't fit a normal size book in it!

  • Hand warmers to keep batteries warm ... brilliant! And camera lens in a sock ... I will use that idea also. Very helpful review of the bag. Great color combo.

  • I wear an operators hat with an OD Canadian Flag and an infidel patch on the back everyday at work and no one up here in Canada thinks it's a "military" or "tactical" hat. They just think I'm goofy :-)

Only once did anyone know the nature of my Jumbo and that was an ex-military cop who asked if I liked the bag. We had a nice chat about Maxpedition. He only knew about them because he upgraded his issued multitool sheath with a maxpedition single sheath.

Youre right most people are clueless!
