The US retired the Tomcat a few years ago... what a shame , It served us since like 1973 ... now we are scrapping them because of the risk of Iran getting parts from them ... It was the best Interceptor fighter ever built. It had the Phoenix missile and the best radar in the world for its time. We need to preserve those aircraft. They are sitting in the desert at davis monathon AFB now. (yuma AZ) . Also known as AMARC.. so sad to see this awesome airplane rotting in the desert...

@hawkuser604: true, it was the best fighter of its time. But time moved on. Tomcats became extremely expensive to maintain their combat redainess went lower and lower. The F/A18 does the job just as well. Not as intimidating and "badass" as the Tomcat though, I agree.
