while surviving if you only have one fucking knife you never treat it like that. its a fucking lifeline. if that blad snaps your up shit creek without a knife. but at least you showed it survives being battered. bear grylls treats his knives like that because he know he has another lifeline being a camera crew and can call for help. in the wild. treat your knife with care.
@tasgraff420 I agree if it was the only thing I had and I needed to get to the dry wood inside to light a fire then yeah I would batton with it, but until then I would baby it. You probably wont even need to batton with your knife in a survival situation, you never seen Les Stroud batton wood with his knives and he was still able to get fire.
@tasgraff420 isn't that the point of a survival knife? to be used in non natural applications? if i want a survival knife I'm sure was hell not going to be stupid enough to buy one that can't take this kind of abuse... ur surviving not cutting cookies... u use ur knife to hlp u survive its not like u would not use it because it might break if its the only knife u have..
@tasgraff420 I disagree. I've beaten the hell out of my Buck knife. I've used it to chop wood for fire and to build shelters as seen in this clip, then minutes later used it to skin rabbits and gut trout. You're right about a knife being a lifeline, and with that in mind, why get one that CAN'T take a good thrashing? If it needs to be treated with any more care than running a stone over it as you sit in camp each evening, I'd say you've bought the wrong knife.
@speedokills Serrations are good for cutting rope and stuff like that which i can do with a straight edge. For me the serrations make it harder to carve and they are kind of a pain to sharpen with the diamond sharpener it came with. It can be done though. I have to admit that i have got used to the serrations. Thanks for watching.
@1097411 sorry if I got the ur name wrong . This video did help me and it's ok u didn't put the whistle in. Thank you for responding quickly I'm :-) about that. In my opinion its not a good survival knife and I can tell you why: first off the serated edge portion of the blade is too big and in the field they're pretty hard to sharpen whereas a full on straight edge you could theoretically sharpen it on a rock. No serations gives you more room to work with. Instead of this blade I would personally go with a kabar usmc fighting/utility knife. More functionality and better blade steel. Gerber has gone down hill in the past years.
@ThatWonAznGuy Wow thats a great compliment Thank You, but no I'm no survival guide. I wish though. Thanks again for the nice compliment it Really means a lot. Take Care.
@youngguns6695 I agree. Just seeing if the knife can hold up to that type of abuse earlier models of this knife had some problems with it falling apart just seeing if it would do the same, but gerber has fix the problems. Thanks for watching take care.
@LegendaryGafer It cost 40 or 50 bucks with this 10 dollar off coupon I had. I bought mine at walmart so i'm not sure where you can order it over the internet. Thanks for watching Take Care.
Everyone watching if you like knife reviews and test i will be starting in February soo just go look at my channel and subscribe early thank you everyone :)
@1097411 You've probably already noticed this, maybe not...But if you keep banging on that blade. You will notice a "loosening" in the blade..The grip will split at the molding seam right where the ricasso meets the finger guard. Which really sucks on this model because you can't see the split. Eventually the blade tang will seperate from the grip. Then ya got problems.. Kraton handles are not intended to support that kind of impact stress. You need a full tang design for this kind of work..
@1097411 Doesn't really matter whether it's a Ka-Bar. I'm just a fan of the vintage models..I've owned them for decades. Trained with them, believe in them.. There are several commercial knives that have a full tang design. (Buck 119, Puma) Sheffield makes a hell of a Ka-BAr version for the MASAD (Isreali Armed Forces). If you can find one... Plus theres always the custom maket. $200 will buy a lot of knife these days if you know where to look. But these masspro commercials are crap.
@1097411 If you were to take a band saw to the grip and slice lengthwise from the blade tang, you would see the grip is simply molded onto a stub tang with a couple of large rubber divets that are pressed into holes drilled through a very short tang. (no more than 3 inches long)...The rest of the grip is just rubber....(you could melt it off with your cigarette lighter is you wanted to)...I honestly don't how they can call this a survival knife and look at themselves in the mirror...
OMFG!!! I CRINGED web I saw u use those seration to cut the wood it says on the website bro the serations r for cutin robe nd it helps if u take the whistle apart nd feed the string threw the hold in the pommel nd reasemble the whilstle so u can put ur hand threw it I've had mine for 7 months now :)
@Ar0n13 You don't have to, but if the wood is wet splitting the wood allows you to get to the dryer inside wood. Also by splitting it makes the wood burn faster. Again you dont have to split the wood i was just showing what the knife is capable of doing. Thanks for watching and take care.
he batons properly unlike some people. if you're breaking knives try letting your arm absorb some of the shock from the handle instead of stiff arming it. it's simple logic not rocket science.
@Microwavethempizzas I'm not sure what it is, i dug it out of my neighbors yard and she said it was willow, but again I'm not sure. Sorry. Thanks and Take Care.

nice test. but imho this is a poor knife design. if BG really designed it... you dont need serations close to the hilt. that is the part of the knife you're gonna use for delicate carving (trap triggers, feather sticks etc) and the serrations really screw things up. plus, they can be difficult to sharpen. and they mostly only have an advantage over a straight blade when cutting cordage and such. well, at least it batons well for a shortish blade. imho, something like CS SRK would be much better.
at 3:58, what was the point of that demonstration? that it could be nailed into wood? also, if you are going to show us a close up of the knife after doing something, say something. we appreciate the info, really, but a lil commentary does help.
@thaiguysabu At 3:58 I was testing the pommle to see it would break or become loose. And next time I'll do more commentary sorry for that. Thanks for watching I appreciate it.Take Care.
nah srry to tell you guys, i bought the knife and its not that great. the metal is cheaper then the lmf gerber. Plus do you see him useing his own knife? didnt think so. The gerber bear gryls is made in china unlike the lmf nd the prodigy......its just a easy way to make cash.... Plus the prodigy is cheaper in price. @ECHO7AIRSOFT youre a fan boy. plus you play airsoft...play paiintball you puss
only reason im question this knife is because they dont tell me wat steal it is made of. i think specs say stainless carbon knife. ummmmm i need more info.
@iKOuRH If I were you I would look into a better knife. Its not a bad knife, but there are alot better ones out there for about the same price maybe more. Thanks for watching.

9:20 your sticking wrong bro, your like moving away from the knife, your supposed to stay as close to the knife as possible

at 3:58, what was the point of that demonstration? that it could be nailed into wood? also, if you are going to show us a close up of the knife after doing something, say something. we appreciate the info, really, but a lil commentary does help.
