  • I love this :). I so have to try it!!!!

  • Great foot idea. It's too hot to pot in Noosa right not but I can't wait to try out all the boxes when the studio cools down and the snakes to to sleep. They have a habit of coiling up around the motor in my wheel.....puts one off really!!

  • Simon, you come up with some clever design ideas. Love it and will be trying it soon.

  • A video of Shoji Hamada starts as he is finishing a box similar to this one - I think his lid is different, having some facets.

I really like your take on it, especially the feet!

Thanks for taking us through the process.

  • Well done !!!!! Thank you for your videos...great job!!!!!

  • Hi Simon, Boy that first cut on the foot made me nervous!!! Nicely done thou!!!!!

Warm wishes from Debbie in Florida

  • Beautifully done, and the feet look great. Surely difficult to judge the spacing, but you make it look easy!

  • The carved feet give the piece an oriental feel. Very nice.

  • Very nice. I like it alot.

  • Lovely pot, thank you

  • 40 years of potting and I've never seen anyone cut a foot like that. Lovely job.

  • Held my breath on this one!

Do like the cut footing a lot, bit scary, when you cut so deep.

I use tools for garnishing, very large plastic straws and a bent metal rib to keep feet more uniform. Very nice!

  • Love the foot. A good foot for bowls so they don't collect water in the dishwasher too.

    Thanks.

  • Another gorgeous piece!, can't wait to see them after firing

  • Thanks, Simon. I haven't seen that foot technique before. great tip.

  • The foot made a lot to the final shape. Made it less heavy. Nice! I did something like it on flowerpots, to let the excess water run out easier. By the way Simon, are all your pots male, since you call them "him". warm regards, Ase

  • What delightful, fresh ideas, I am off to my wheel to try them.

  • Had to look up the word 'castellated' :) Never heard that term. Guess it's because we don't have many castles over here! I really like the foot like that, tho.

  • Excellent! Can't wait to see it all done. Would it be for sale? I am very interested;-D Thanks so much ~ Sincerely Karen
