I have never heard of keeping the japa mala close to your heart and cupping the bottom of the mala above your navel. If you do it this way, don't you think you will be tired very soon and can't do it for a long time?
My rudraksha mala is very long (~ 35 inches, i.e., 70 inches diameter) and it rests on the meditation mat while I am chanting. I am just wondering if I am doing anything wrong by placing the mala on the mat while chanting. Do you have any idea?
@deepakrajput This is the purpose of a mala bag - it keeps the mala from dangling below the navel. Then you only have to use one hand to hold the bag to the heart. If you find it too tiring, you can use a danda - a special stick with a rest under the armpit. Remember that everything in this world is expressive. You don't want to go to a social engagement and speak clumsily or rudely. Well, doing japa you are at a 'spiritual engagement.' The same rules apply. In Ma's love, Shambhavi
@tamaratm22 The ordinary world you are experiencing right now, including yourself, is made up of patterns of consciousness and energy. Just like you can have the experience of being in relationships, so can malas become related to the strong pattern you create when you do a lot of mantra repetition. But it is also possible for them to pick up other influences along the way. This is really not a big deal at all, but it's nice to keep them uncomplicated! I hope this helps. In Ma's love, Shambhavi
Very accurate explanation.

@deepakrajput And that is a very large mala for japa! Perhaps you might want to use a smaller rudraksha mala for this purpose. Just a thought.
