I saw Patti LaBelle for the first time at the Kennedy Center, in 1977, on a solo tour. Lenny Williams, opened for her, He sang a half hour...she sang for almost 3 fuckin hours, dude...AT FULL BLAST! In her prime, she made Beyonce' look like Mary Poppins, for real. That concert was like going to church. She was awesome.
