  • cool

  • Whoa. That's $1627.89 worth of intel bricks. Wow dude.

  • Jesus you've got $2400 worth of legos right there. Meanwhile in Somalia...

  • For this Price, you become a good Keyboard with Recording function!

  • Nice!!

  • :)

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @VathekWins ohh lol

  • are yu rich youve got loads of the nxt power blocks lol in uk ther £100 plus

  • pregunta donde puedo compra ellego nxt (enque pais )

  • That is AMAZING! HOLY SHIT MAN! THOSE LEGOS (and you) SHOULD GET THE GRAMMY AWARD! :D

  • That is, what usual mp3-players can do...

  • Nice lego skills and a beautiful song :)

  • there is 11

  • cant help to think about how much all of those nxt's cost lol

  • "slaves" ur a racist wierdo

  • @Technofuse

    you faggot, its an expression

  • @Technofuse it is a computer term stupid

  • where have you stolen al that nxt,s

  • WALDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thesimplyspastic - Actually people say that I look like Chucky :-)

  • great

  • I WANT AN NXT!!!!!!!

  • i love all of your music and how you get the nxts to play the same thing as you

  • nice man, i like your clothes :)

  • Some Asian Guy Did The Same Thing With Phones To Ask His Wife to Marry Him, It Worked. =D

  • dude you got MAD piano skill

  • i bid you good workings now i want to make a mindstorms piano

  • That's pretty awesome. looks expensive. I was going to go buy a Lego mindstorms set from toys R us but they wanted 300 bucks for one. I can get them for QUITE a bit cheaper online but still expensive. How do you program your Lego mindstorms? what language do you program your robots in or is it with a point a click software?

  • @irisauser - I used the graphical programming language that came with the set.

  • @irisauser buy it on amazon and dont buy it off EBAY THEIR A SCAM

  • @irisauser You can also use actual computer languages. I have used it with java and it works wonderfully with ease :)

  • @asd2734 Java with ease, oooo, I like the sound of that. I didn't really want to have to learn a whole new language just to program an NXT.

  • @irisauser haha yup! the info/tutorial is on lejos(dot)sourceforge(dot)net

    have fun :)

  • @irisauser If you are looking for a good text based programming language for these I would recommend using Robot C which is a application that already had everything for mindstorm and is C based.

  • @irisauser "point and click" makes it sound childish.

its actually quite advanced, but it is drag and drop.

like most programming, it works on either "do this, do this, then do this" OR can have "do this when this happens, if not, do this" sorta thing.

it can also carry numbers and add them and generate random ones, which can be inputted or outputted on the appliances.

so, for example "if Ultrasonic sensor is <20cm, A & B motors rotate clockwise for 3 rotations"

  • WOW this gives some REAL work to do... congratz! i would never be able to do that complex programming

  • awsome good song too

  • why do you have 2 NXTs?

  • @0wnagedotcom He doesn't - count again. there's eleven in the vid and he borrowed ten. 11 - 10 = 1.

  • que desperdicio !

  • lol how expensive wasn´t that?

  • @19f97 each nxt programable lego brick is 140 dollars alone. An entire kit is 280 dollars. Do the math.

  • Thats awesome man!

  • Wow you really can hear out that it is "Mull of Kintyre"

    Amazing !

  • on-cor, on-cor, applause, dude you ROCK, and you rock to mindstorm's.

  • yeah bring back those overall!

  • You sir, have re-affirmed my love of everything put on the market to help creative people create things. Thank you Lego!

    Bloody brilliant I must say!

  • Very very very very nice man !

  • your a pro i love this song good work it dosen't mader whath clothes you wear!

  • awsome preformanse!

  • man go out meet some nice girls

  • great clothing style!

  • OMG how much F***ing cash is that!?!?!?

  • like a conductor and an orchestra, very well done ^-^

  • wow u put alot of work into that. 5 stars!

  • That is so cool!!!

    but very expensive....

  • wow!! thats really good! good job!

  • Masterpiece!

  • haha lol :)

  • That's an unusual way to use lego mindstorms. :)

  • @Jesus45U theres millions of unusual ways to use lego mindstorms and i guess music is one of em

  • There are many ways to use Lego Mindstorms, but most of them revolve around using it to control lego build robots.

This, on the other hand, is unusual, even compaired to the usual Mindstorm builders.

I totally approve of it though, it's the kind of stuff I would do!

Heck, I once turned a heating control system into a grandfather clock similaricum, complete with the tick-tock sound and everything. :D

Stuff like this is proof of creativity in a person. :)

  • wow you are really great

  • Oh man!

    that's great :)

  • nice

  • ömg

  • cool nice

  • srry i was in a very bad mood that day

  • The people who likes to wear overalls! What a silly question...

  • It's...

    AMAZING!

  • das ist lustig ^^

  • it's a good idea and a amusing video

  • you bought like 15 mxt thats a lot of money

  • Lol once again... nvm... IF YOU READ the description it says he "borrowed then NXTs..." On the other side of things, I bought my kit for $150 once upon a time, just when the Robotics Invention System was at 2.0 ~7 years ago

  • you have to much money

  • That is just phenomenal.

  • Very nice))

  • Comment removed

  • Awzum

  • Do you do everything alone? Or got you friends who help you like building with lego?

  • I do it alone.

  • O_O you're a very skilled man then

  • that was amazing. does that song have a name or did you just make it up

  • "Mull of Kintyre" by Paul McCartney.

  • lol nice! I've dreamed about making something like this...

  • I love this

  • hillbilly...

  • I prefer the phrase "farmboy".... :-)

  • ok u are farmboy

  • Thanks.

  • :-)

  • Wait, what?... er Why? You can program the blocks to make different sounds in sequences, even on the older versions using NQC. There's also an automated way to code it if you have a midi file. Maybe I'm missing the point here, but I'll include a video of a robot I made playing the loony tunes theme while dancing to it.

  • how many of those smart blocks do you have how much were they all together

  • lol

  • cool song *waving a lighter*

  • man all you haters hatin on his style of clothing needs to go die in a fire, oh wait you fucking prententious virgins have nothing better to do, but make your self the "Alpha" male on the interweb.

  • Thanks for the defence.

  • @kwrzxm

    So true!

  • whats borrowing? plz tellme im dutch, but i like it, and i think hes clthes are bad, but yeh...

  • dude, work on your english, or look it up.

    het betekend lenen

  • very cool, but not quitre my style, and people stopp dissin on his clothes!!!!!

  • i like it, very clever, well done mate

  • I like the clothes! :P They remind me the clothes of Chucky! cool! I'm not impressed with the result, good work though!

  • that costume...

    its its its.....

    HAHAHAHAHA!

  • You a'int seen nothing yet......

  • HE SAID HE BARROWED EM DUMBASSED

  • dude, why would you spend like $1500 on these???

  • 1 cost 140$

  • He borrowed them!

  • lol

  • and what you were wearing...that costume..makes you more creapy..ffs..cant believe that..hehe :))) what a world..

  • Creapy?!? Why?!? It's just overalls and a T-shirt. What's wrong with that?

  • ffs spookie freaky and awsome..Good work man..i ll post it on all forums that i use :))

  • Thank you..... I guess...

  • How much code did you need to write to make this happen?

  • Surprisingly little! The tones are written as a text file that are uploaded to the NXT together with the programme. So in pseudo code it would look like this: Start { { read number from file play tone with number as frequency repeat 8 times } wait for synchronizing signal (light flash) go to start } The hard part is to write the text files with all the tones represented as frequencies. What I normally do is that I write the names of the notes and then replace them with numbers.
  • Hmm - is there not room here to build a bit of software (quick C# or Perl app) to convert the notes to sounds for you? although knowing me, I would spend more time playing with the app than it would take to convert them - although I would enjoy it.

  • Probably. But that would require that I learned Quick C#. And I'm not so much into programming.

  • crazy. but I have to ask: why? wouldn't it be 10x easier/cheaper to just solder some oscillators together yourself?

  • Yes, it would. Or use two NXTs and a chorus pedal. Or a cheap toy keyboard.

The idea behind the whole series of MindStorms music videos was to make music with a piece of LEGO that wasn't thougt of as a musical instrument (why? Because I CAN) and not nessesarily the most logical/economical/sensible way. In this particular case the idea was that the NXTs should act as a bagpibe band - just as in the original version - and they allways come in high numbers....

  • Nice job.

  • awsome

  • at the end, is the sound nothing but NXT's?? cause i thought i heard some base...

  • The bass comes from the organs pedal section. But I had to turn the overall volume of the organ down to be able to hear the NXT chorus. And by doing that I also turn down the bass. But the NXTs are not capable of playing bass notes - too small speaker.

  • so many NXTs.Rich man

    It cost my 2200RMB/325$.

  • I love it!!!

  • lol on my country 1 nxt costs 1250 PLN = 700 dollars

  • HOw did you get the nxts to record the music???

  • The notes are all written in a .txt file that the NXTs are reading - one line at a time -when they are playing. The notes are represented as frequencies with one on each line like this: 262 262 262 294 349 349 440 440 440 This is the first four notes from the file. A zero are interpreted as silence. When a note is followed by a note with the same frequency they are interpreted as a single note with the double duration.
  • WTF

  • all the nxts will cost about 2,668.84$

  • Yes, but I only own two of them. The other 10 were borrowed.

  • "borrowed"

  • Yes, and returned again after making this video!

  • lol

  • he's got friends that really trust him i bet

  • you said it.. or their houses are right beside his

  • Expensive

  • love the song what the name

  • BEATUFULL, JUST BEAUTIFULL! I LOVED THE SONG, and it was cool how they copyd it.

  • that's alot of mindstorms...

  • I haven't yet but i'll check it out now

  • where the heck did u get all those mindstorms?

  • REALLY COOl and i mean it i used to have mindstorms but 4 months later and nxt came out.....thus making 2.0 an idiotic design

  • I wouldn't go as far as "Idiotic" but the NXT has some great advantages compared to the RCX. Have you seen the video where I have made an RCX piano? It's part 6 of my little concert.

  • hääa?????? are you playing something to them and they repaed it or what????????

    very cool.

  • No. They are playing on their own controlled by a master. That's why there are two flashing lights: The slaves play in sync with the lights flashing controlled by the master. The melody was programmed on the NXTs before I started the camera.

  • dashavu i thought i heard this before must be from good memories

  • How much did they all cost?

  • One NXT (with a big selection of technic bricks) costs 400-500$ depending on where you shop. So the entire setup would cost me close to 6000$. However, I only own one of them. The others are some that I have borrowed and returned after making this video.

  • huh?????????????????????

  • wow cool

  • how much does one cost and where could i get one from?

  • It is available at shop-dot-lego-dot-com.

Press "By category", "Robotics", and "LEGO MindStorms NXT".

  • wohoo you spend a lot of money for all those NXTs..

  • Not really. I only own one of them. The others are some that I have borrowed and returned again after making this project.

  • Happy 50th birthday, LEGO brick!

  • Owned.

Is the song programmed in or is it imitating what you played?

  • I am playing the organ for real but the sound on the NXTs are programmed. The only cheating I have done is that I stopped playing while moving the camera to the other angle and edited the pieces together.

  • bs-------

  • its cool but isnt it a lot of money for only a music player........but it is nicely done!

    happy new year evry body!

  • It can do a lot more than just play music. It would just be a bit messy with 12 assembled MindStorms robots each doing their own movement on the small table. So I only took advantage of its sonic capabilities in this act.

  • GGGOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDD job thats cool

  • i liked the music :D i liked the music a lego made xD have you recorded it? (just the music?) i want it :) thanks mate

  • I have not made audio files of it yet. But I have thought about doing it. Mostly because YouTube only plays in mono - the original video is in stereo - and working with audio only gives me the possibility to do some noise reduction - like removing the clicks that sometimes comes after the editing of the pictures.

  • Thanks. How many NXT is it on your workplace? Do you still work there? and did you built, and progammed it yourself? and if so, where did you get the codes from?(im a real amateur when it comes to lego technology, but im half dannish :D)

  • wtf is a nxt

  • NXT is the central computer in LEGO's Mindstorms construction system. It can receive data from up to four sensors and control up to three motors and - like it does here - play sound.
