It sounds better than high priced shot gun mic in a room this size. For a room this size the mic would pic up the echo from the hard surfaces on the walls. If you don't have the budget for the professional wireless mics, this is a good bargain. Anyway Audio Technica produces good product.
Aw shucks, I LIKE the nice jazz soundtrack. You could lower it a bit, but it's fine and dandy. I can easily hear the quality of your vocals. No problem there. Sounds pretty good for such a cheap system. Stop whining PEOPLE.
I bought the system you have but without the mic, just the transmitter and reciever, and got a MT830R from audio technica mic only and plugged it in. I am very happy it sounds awesome. The total comes out to about $500 but there is an audio technica warehouse like 5 minutes from my house and they have a warehouse sale once a year. The total was $69.99. I am very happy
I'd say that you should do at least one part with no music. How are people supposed to judge the sound quality? The music was mixed louder than it would be in a professional video too further covering the qualities of the mic. Maybe next time...
It still sounds great! The purpose of lavs is the option of not having echo in the dialogue. Even though this a low end lav..it still does the job of recording dialogue with no echo as does the higher end hypercardioids mics. and for $120 this is great. Try recording this with high end mic and you will still get echo in "live" rooms with 8" ceilings, hardwood floors etc.
I did a test with a small low cost Audio Technica lapel mic. It works well but is mono, so I run it through and amp and use the camcorder mic to capture that sound. It is actually quite good. I use it as a way of amplifying my voice while I am playing piano loudly. Audio technica seems pretty good. Tiny little mic but good specs. ATR 35s is the model. Thanks.
Where are the pictures of the receiver? Liar! :P Well, I just wanted to know what kind of connector does it have to plug the mic into the transmitter.
Very dissapointed with this unit and am sorry I bought it. The metal input for the lapel mic has come lose with minimal use causing static if you move the wrong way so its basically a lose, staticy connection if you don't stand still. very poor build quality. Also the mic is VERY weak with very, very low freq range as you can tell by this video. It is NOT a hot mic box with built in gain controls.
I bought an Audio Labs Squid omni directional mic and it's more hot than the stock mic but still n
@TakeSomeAdvice It's not advisable to use this system for pro level work that's for sure. I have had no problems you described with mine. But, it's mainly for amatuer use and simply improving the sound over the camera's built in mic.
Nice Demo, thanks for sharing!! Can a musician use this when performing on stage, if it is securely attach to, let say a flute?? Do you think the sound would be nice n loud??
@knowledgeispowerfful Ah wouldn't trust this unit for live performance or pro level work. It's OK for goofing around and making home videos for You Tube sound better. The cost is low and you get what you pay for. I would look at the Sennheiser's for what you are wanting to do.
The audio pick up must be great, being that you are soft spoken. I would have liked to hear you sampling different tones of voice and loudness. And distance from the receiver until quality diminishes. How big is the room you are in?
@rawiyahsphere In tests that I have done, the unit will perform at the quality you were hearing in the video up to about 15 feet from the camera. Beyond that, it's risky! Hope that helps.
Thanks for the video review! You mentioned about a "hiss" on the mic and that you adjusted the gain on the camcorder, I was wondering if that was a particular feature on your camcorder because I don't have a professional one just a Canon HG-10, so wondering if I should be concerned about getting this, thanks.
@lg123xyz Your particular camera uses AGC (automatic gain control). Unless you have the ability to manually adjust the gain levels on your cam you will be dependent on what the camera does to the levels. If that is the case you will probably hear some amount of Hiss, but it will be still less than what you get now. On top of that the talent's voice will be louder because of mic proximity. You can use that to your advantage in post and lower the levels or apply noise reduction to clean it up some
I bought the Pro 88W two years ago and used it twice.
The third, time after leaving it in the box for over a year (yes the batteries where removed) the sender craped out -totally - dead.
All I got from Vistek Canada is a shrug of the shoulders. My advise, spend another 100 Dollars and get something of better quality, anything other than a cheap audio-technica product.
Mine doesn't work past 15 feet, pretty useless you might as well run cable at that point.

You should turn down or even delete your background music when your talking. I found it very distracting.

Your doing a audio vocal mic test but playing a music track at the same time thats as loud as the vocal !

Why would you put music under your audio? It diminishes the ability to discern the actual audio quality.
