It's only competitor is the Tiger 1050. You can't take it off-road when you can with the BMW GS and KTM Adventure. What's amazing though is the service interval: 15,000 miles that's amazing! :0)
if that service interval works out to be fact, it sounds wonderful.
Is that simply the 'major' service intervals (valve-check) or 'regular' service intervals. If it's regular (which may involve 'major' servicing tasks) that sounds pretty sweet and again, eases the minds of folks that would like to add a Duc to the stable without the fear of feeling like being bled dry by the thoughts that owning one has a restrictively high ongoing cost of ownership..prohibitively so.
but a big problem with it is chain drive, why would you go for a bike where you have to faff about with a chain instead of a BMW R1200GS with shaft drive, i dont understand why they didnt do that
Sorry, I put this response to the wrong originator. This is the correct place for it!
Spot on. To me this bike has all the answers I'm looking for: Performance, comfort, genuine touring ability and yet not lardy and will handle rough roads - but no shaft drive! Of course, it would have added a bit to the weight but that would have been a small price to pay.
Gorgeous bike! Been researching this bike for a while now and I want one so badly. However, I'll wait for it to become second hand first I think. I just couldnt justify that price tag.

I agree; I wasn't thrilled with the beak at first, but I've grown used to it; it disappears when you're sitting on it at any rate.

I hated it when it was just released but its really growing on me.

To be more precise in my comment. This bike like a lot of the semi-naked bikes appears to suffer from 'form without function'
Slap a bit of extraneous plastic on it, that will make it look modern.
No, it just makes it look like you slapped a bit of plastic on it. If the plastic isn't doing anything, we do realise that.

There seems to be a widening gap between what motorcycle companies "think" looks good and what consumers "think" looks good.
Bear in mind that this is an entirely subjective matter but that bike looks like crap, all of the new naked bikes just look rubbish.

lambookuka 2 years ago 2
@lambookuka It's a Ducati with what is essentially the 1098 sportbike engine in it. I already know how it will go...
Bronzey57 2 years ago
does that make a GSR as good as a GSXR...?
