  • @zdwafa

    I have the same problem!!!

    But what is false???

  • PS3 told me cannot start, the correct hard disk was not found

  • @zdwafa I had the same problem but i fixed it. One way to fix it is to just turn off your ps3 and then turn it on again (you can do it multiple times and one of those times it should go to the proper screen); or also, you can take out the hard drive and put it back in again, and that may fix it too

  • @chemicalmusician545 Ok thanks a lot bro, It worked. THANKS!!!!!

  • DOes it work whit a ps3 without a harddrive .... installing a new hardrive i mean

  • @srgamers my ps3 just got a YLOD and ive taken out my hard drive and if i get another 60gb ps3 can i put my hard drive into the new ps3 without breaking it?!?!?! please reply

  • @theJoker5234 Its easy to get the out im 11 and i got them out u just have to push the screw deep and then turn it

  • @pureofblood No its completly broken. But i got it open :D. With a Saw....

  • @theJoker5234 Lol but my PS3 got fucked up it got YLOD now i have to open it and get my black ops disk cause it doesnt work any other way and i must go through 15 prestiges again

  • I have a 320gb hard drive that I use for my computer. Would I be able to save my game saves onto there and then transfer to the new PS3 hard drive? Or does the external hard drive have to be, like, exclusive to the PS3?

Also, where did you buy a new hard drive for your PS3? I have the fat one, same as you. I'm just hoping it isn't too expensive. :)

  • my screw doesn't want to get out :( the one on the ps3...

  • @MrDjtivoli lol

  • <3 Toe Jam and Earl

  • Will I have to set up a PSN acount on the new hard drive or will it already be on the playstation? bcuz I already have PSN accounts on 5 playstations and therefore cannot set up my acount on any more?

  • This is a lot harder than I thought my parents r gonna kill me for making the clerk look through the trash for my previous hard drive D':

  • my ps3 now has 300 gigs baby

  • wat happens if u try to put the old hard drive back in will u need to format it

  • @ARACARD100 you shouldn't its already formatted.

  • do you keep all your trophys?

  • @adammcd14 only if its been saved and transferred over

  • @adammcd14 Yes trophies are linked to your psn account so aslong as that remains the same you shouldn't loose your trophies

  • Excellent Tut. Good Job.

  • can you take the internal out and just rely on an External?

  • @Sakki54 im pretty sure u can, but y? if someone steals ur external than u hav a ps3 shell only........it'll power up with no hard drive to read.

  • nice guide! I'm getting my new HD today so I'm Deffently doing this. Hope this will fix my problem. :)

  • where would i get a new hard drive for the phat

  • i cant read the ps3 os link what is it

  • Where can you get the cable for the hard drive to USB? My PS3 got the YLOD and I want to buy a completely new PS3 (probably the slim) and I dont want to lose all my data. I was wondering if I could do this operation with a brand new PS3 and an old hard drive like this one in the video because the 2 hard drives are different in a simple way.

  • Can someone plz tell me what happens to all my psn avatars, psn games, addons, etc.?! it wont let me back it up?!!!!

  • @djnat619 You can re-download them if you're signed into your name, it doesn't cost you a thing.

  • Why not just include link in description? -_-

  • everyone with ridiculous questions.... I will answer over a years worth of questions in one sentence. If you came to this video for instructions on how to remove a screw, or if you need to know what kind of hard drive to use, or if you have never seen the inside of a computer, then upgrading you ps3 is NOT for you. And NO it does not void your warranty, but if you ship your ps3 with an upgraded hdd, you will not get it back.

  • What's the link? It's to blurry..

  • If you do this to the oldest version, will it still play PsOne and PS2 Games??

    Thanks

  • Fuck man those damn little screws are hard to take out!! (atleast for me)

  • i did not have to do all that when i upgraded my harddrive all i had to do was back up my game saves and music to a thumb drive then copy them back after i swap the drive

  • @thepatriotsfan94 do u need to back up the game data as well or not?

  • @Ezza232499 if dont want to start all over again when it comes to your games

  • Hey can someone tell me the exact name and stuff of the Ps3 harddrive so i can buy it :)

  • 320GB@7200rpm for $50 dollars!

  • i only get no (useful) or what it will be in english... was found. plug in another (hard drive) with v3.15 or later.... i used my dads ps3 and saftycopy it then ... this happen...? i need help!

  • so you only need to do a back up if you have data?

  • i've a interesting fact for everyone. anyone should acquire this game for f . r . e . e at "ps3bigskydownload" - just open google and type in "ps3bigskydownload". take a look at 1st link and you'll be there. expect the public like it.

  • this is not a game retard lol

  • It's a spam machine, It doesn't know that, It just posts that on videos with "PS3" on the name.

  • is the disc really necessary?

  • i want to take out mf hdd and put it in a friends ps3 so we can play some of my dlc (fallout 3 add ons, battlefeild 1943) will that work? please respond asap. thanks.

  • @rebal0devil why dont you just do game sharing? Doesnt require any hardware switching and it stays on his system

  • or you can just make a new profile and login with your account and download it (it is illegal) but then agen ho cares!

  • okay so if i take the hard drive out of my ps3 and put it on another ps3 will all my saved data be their.!? please answer some one

  • @b3to23 Yes it will ive done it my problem is im thinking about upgrading to a slim and I dont know if my 160 hdd will carry over

  • @jayaknow5252 dont! my slim broke on the first week

  • No i already did it use an external hdd to transfer to your new one

  • ive got one of the older ps3 and have came across a hard drive from an acer aspire laptop its says its a serial ata hard drive ,so can i use this hard drive for the ps3 and will the ps3 format this drive as i think vista and some other software is on it , so can you help by letting me know thanks

  • i dont have a ps3 but i might get one and i was just had a question. my friend has one and the switch on the back to turn it on and when u turn of the system by pushing off up front do u have to turn the back switch off too.

  • if you turn it off it goes into a standby mode (like with a TV) the switch on the back will turn it off properly . (basicly it saves you money on your electric bill :D

  • when u change ure HDD , and u back up ure stuff on an external HDD , does the "DLC's" from gamens or other DLC things also go to the external HDD so u can put the DLC's back on ure system one u changed ure HDD ?

  • that's bullshit it does void the warranty! and why didn't you mention that you couldn't play ps2 games after you've changed it?!

  • Wrong, but you'll probably find your waranty is expired anyway on most PS3s.

  • how am I wrong I phoned GAME and asked them! and they said it would void it!

  • Sony's warranty document is available online and says:

"You should also remove any peripherals, non-PS3™ system components, and any content that you consider proprietary, private, or confidential before you send in your PS3™ system for service"

So if it breaks throw your original HDD back in and send it in as per their instructions, don't ask permission, just follow their own instructions. Their own docs anticipate removing non Sony *SYSTEM COMPONENTS* for service.

  • P.S. to be fair Sony also says:

"If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PS3™ system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS3™ system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PS3™ system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment."

But that's a "may" put the original back in.

  • @videogamemusicfm If it voided the warranty instructions on how to upgrade your hard drive wouldn't be in the Help Book that comes with the system now would it? Page 16-19 PS3 Saftey and Support Booklet. YOU FAIL.

  • no you fail it does void the warranty, I wasn't talking about the sony warranty :P I was on about the warranty I have to pay monthly for

  • can this fuk ur ps3 up by doin this

  • No, worst case you put your old drive back in. It should just work.

  • will this backup your dlc's and psn games youve bought

  • well it doesnt matter cause the DLC will be saved to your online account on the playstation store. Just go to downloads and find it again, and redownload.

  • yep

  • ive got a 40 gig so im wondering if i change it to a sixty will i automatical be able to play ps2 games??? please write back

  • no......your joking i hope^_^

  • so youre telling me that if i change my hard drive and burn that disk thingy i still wont be able to play ps2 games???

  • It wont its the ps3's components.

  • si i cant play ps2 game no matter what

  • Not unless you have a old one tht is backwards compatible

  • dlord7996 The drive capacity is NOT why you can't play PS3 games. That's just a product decision. There are different versions of PS2 hardware, the PS2 compatible ones include PS2 hardware to run PS2 games. Sony cut that hardware to help with costs on some models. The new slim with 120GB Hard drive has no PS2 support either.

  • dont change it to a 60gb. it will fill up again in half the time it took to fill your 40gb. I would get 120-320gb

  • no, you wont be able to play ps2 games. you'll need an emotion engine :S

  • guys voice is anoying i couldnt stand it

  • thanx (:

  • hey, i was wondering, how come when i plug in my external harddisk via the usb, the ps3 doesnt read my harddisk at all, i cant locate my audio or videos...

  • you lost your bionic commando saved data GOOD that game suucks lol

  • I would like to ask will you be able to put your saved game data form the old hard drive onto the new hard drive. And if you have a 60 gb ps3 will you be able to have backward compatibility on your new hard drive...

  • i dont know if he answerd your question about backwards compatabilty but, no...its gonna be the same...all you are gonna be doing is giving your ps3 more data...thats all your hard drive does, so its not gonna change your ps3's overall functions

  • tanks

  • GOTTA LOVE THE TOEJAM & EARL SONG

  • when you change hard drive, can you import the information from the old hard drive to the new one ? and when you change hard drive does the ps3 still remember your psn friends list and your remembered password?

  • dunno about about your 1st question, but your passord and stuff but all your psn friends should be saved via the psn network

  • To put your info from the old hard drive to the new one, you would probably need a SD card or USB drive and copy the files on one of those and copy the files to your new hard drive from there.

And yes, you will still have your psn friends, that is saved to the Playstation Network servers.

  • Haha, like the Toejam & Earl song in the beginning. lawl

  • aja! this man will never answer your comments but by the way i can`t take of the blue screw

  • is it really tight?, i changed mine yesterday and i got it hard with the damn screws!!!!, they were tooooooo tight!! damn it

  • what is the link?

  • the screw is realy hard to get out on my 40GB model

  • i got a question..?

Do you loose all your memory from the games you played on the 40g hardrive?

  • How do you format the new hd to fat32?????

  • I'm probably gonna upgrade my hard drive when I get some money and thanks to this, now I know exactly how. Thanks for posting this :D

  • Hey nice vid dude u should have a tv show

    on how to's

  • does this viod ur ps3 warentee?

  • he told you in the start of the video that it didn't.

  • ohh yeah lol

  • Hey thanks man... awesome vid... im bout to do this to my ps3 as soon as my hdd arives.

  • is it tru dat if u use a hdd drive thats over 250 it will mak da ps3 much slower

  • btw my ps3 wont read dvr for some reason. wtf?

  • i dam 40 gb only had 30 gb LOL thx

  • so how much GB HDD that we can update?

  • any console like 60gb and 80gb or 40gb

can change hdd?I just wanna make sure.

  • You would you mind putting that link in the description?

  • what do i do if the screws are stuck on my internal hard drive? It is from inside the ps3...

  • can i put a hdd from a laptop into ps3?

  • ''notebook'' so i think yes

  • can some one help me were could i get one of those hard drive disk that i can change the one on the ps3

  • i need help i upgraded my hard drive and it is a 320gb hard drive and everything was done right but when i checked and it says my ps3 hard drive is only 298gb and i dont know whats wrong

  • the limit 250

  • It is OKAY!! When you format the HDD the PS3 reformats the HDD and takes things away from the OS (because the OS needs to install somewhere.) Its really about 310 gigs but it shows up as 298.

  • so you could put the 60gb hard drive into your laptop notebook if your harddrive got corrupted somehow?

  • yup

  • awesome video thank you

  • gr8 vid, i change mine 60g hdd yesterday. i did my totally different. swap the old 1 with the new 250g seagate, format and ur done. didnt have to set time or install any type of software and all of setting was jus about the same. + mine hdd casting had a handle to slide the hdd forward. well neway good job...

  • Your welcome, let me know if he has any questions.

  • i thought u jst had to change the hard drive and do a system format then u dnt need to install anything

  • You need to burn the latest system software, from there is formats and installs itself on the new drive.

  • i did abit of research after i wathced ur video (do u hav a 40gb) and the models like 40gig have different process to installing a new hard drive with a launch model 60gig all u hav 2 do is swap new hard drive over and then format the new hard drive and bobs ur uncle and fanny ur aunt lol

  • Yeah, I do have the 40 GB, not sure if they have changed the process or not, this PS3 isn't that old, only about 4 months, I hope they didn't change it that quickly. And how did you know about my Uncle Bob?

  • its jst i watched other videos on how to change ur ps3 hard drive and the process was different ooo and every1 no's uncle bob he a smashing fella

  • I checked another one, the system version was 1.31, and the guy had the original 20 GB model and suggested 2 pages from the manual that have since been changed to 2 different pages (ie, from pages 15-16 to 18-19) I was using the most current OS 2.42 and I think since then the process has changed significantly, as my book even told me to do it this way.

  • i agree i have a original 60gb model i dnt think the process has changed for me. but if ur manual told u to do it that y then the process must of changed. oooo and does it matter what make the hard drive is????

  • no, as long as it's 5400 rpm and 2.5 inches.

  • cheers been a big help

  • Confusing but pratical. But if you transefered all of your saved game data onto the new hardrive then would'nt you just have two full hardrives?

  • No, the backup is compressed, and you could just erase it when your done.

  • Thanks, this is going to help alot of people.

  • I hope so, thanks for watching.

  • Dude, how long did it take you to actually do the switch, cause it looks like an easy thing but hard at the same time.

  • Why do you have a Mario tune at the end of a PS3 tutorial? Lol.

  • OMGosh, I did?, nah, I love that tune, and figured it fit the part.

  • Love that guy at the end, he never gets old, well, older.

That scream sounds like that one time I nudged my 360 while it was running.

  • hehe, your Xbox huh, thats funny, I call him our MGM Rabbit.

  • could you review crysis?

  • when I get around to getting a copy I sure will.

  • awright YEAH!

  • sweet!!

  • Glad you liked it.
