  • great ride but i think the horse is versatile...flash his head a furlong and half out change lead in deep stretch as he gets by carlton house.the kid knew he already got treasure beach but i hope he know`s not every horse is like pour moi.

  • this ride was technically masterful but what was he playing at the end lol

  • I still cant get over the little french twat's finishing style. Would've it if he got short headed. PS the commentator says 'erect' at 3:05 lol.

  • An utterly amazing riding performance... PERFECT timing in the greatest race of all. He got the job done brilliantly AND with flair too!! More power to the little Frenchman!! I took 6-1 in the morning so was really focussing on Por Moir's positioning etc.. Faultless, stylish and a Derby winner, what more needs to be said!?

  • @mickyp1964 Couldn't agree more. I've watched the Derby every year 1961, either on TV or as a spectator at Epsom itself. A select few won in a style that will linger in the memory forever. Sea Bird and Sir Ivor readily come to mind. I couldn't care less about Timeform ratings or what the horse went on to achieve subsequently. In 2011, Pour Moi and his jockey created something that will remain etched in my mind for as long as I live - one of the truly great Derby occasions.

  • BRAVO BARCALONA

  • what a legend!!

  • Arrogant Bastard

  • Silly error in the end.

  • Still don't understand Aidan O'Brien decision, at all, to use up Treasure Beach solely as a pacemaker in the Arc for SNA and SYT? He should've let Treasure Beach be ridden in a manor as to try and win the race on his own merits, and take advantage of that 3yr.old weight break he got. A horse good enough to win the G1 Irish Derby, the G1 Secretariat Stakes in America, plus comes within a whisker of winning the G1 Epsom Derby also would've had a shot to win the Arc if ridden properly? IMO.

  • I felt like Carlton House by no means disgraced himself in the Epsom or Irish Derby this season. Ran a very respectable race in both. That said, I really believe time will prove that he's a better horse at 10f than he is at 12f. If I'm SMS, I'd be looking to point Carlton House toward the top 10f G1 races in 2012. I.E., Prince of Wales's Stakes, Juddmonte International Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes, and Champion Stakes. Maybe some 10f G1 races in France as well? JMO.

  • Can you believe the arrogance of the jockey! Would have loved to see him lose in a photo finish!

  • @robjune14 Get fuck*d he gave the horse am amzing run, absoultely great race. You probably lossed money thats why your piss*d of. I think anyone would be celebrating if they won the derby especially if you came from last to first!!! AMAZING

  • Pour Moi out, Rewilding RIP, SYT as for now out, well, what will the Arc look like?

  • @astrenvi

I know mate, not really much to look foreward to. Could have been a great Arc. Its a real shame...

  • @astrenvi boring!!

  • @goodfella30

    ??

  • @astrenvi what will the Arc look like? i replied boring!!

  • Sad news hearing about Pour Moi having to be retired due to a serious injury. He was definitely one of the most fancied 3yr.old's being backed for this year's Arc!! But I still wouldn't completely rule out Andre Fabre's chances at Longchamp this year. Because his other 3yr.old, Meandre, looked very impressive when he won the G1 Grand Prix De Paris at Longchamp this year. JMO.

  • I just read that Pour Moi has broken down and may not race again. Huge shame.

  • @bgardiner2000

What a shame! And I guess now SYT will run the Arc...

  • @astrenvi I'm not sure that the presence of absence of Pour Moi would really have affected the decision to run SYT in the Arc. I really hope he does but I guess a lot of that will hinge on his run in the ICS. I think there was a lot to look forward to with Pour Moi. A big disappointment. Thankfully though he will be ok by the sounds of it.

  • @bgardiner2000

Since both horses are owned by the same owners and one of them is now out, they may be looking forward to using the other.

  • @astrenvi That's a good point! Let's hope so.

  • @bgardiner2000

A SYT vs PM would have been so incredible especially when you know how André Fabre is so fond of this horse but well, being a racing horse isn't easy, is it?

  • @astrenvi That's for sure.

  • new French 19 year old wins the 2011 Derby, watch the finish, from absolute last to first...

  • & lads if ye want 2 make d racn game pay Back d Best but wait 4 them...d guys that won on Pour moi were lucky .....NA was a gd thng 2 beat Middday as CC was 2beat Goldie use yur heads it was d best man against d best woman on both occasions....back Weld at Galway...Frankel was gd thing at RAscot dont mind d price thats just 2 put u off he is a phenomina.. I backed Goldie ystrday against her own sex a gd thing & yes its all n d past so ok wait for SYT n d Arc he has been cryng out for d 12f's: )

  • I am a long time in d racn game & I have never seen a jockey as expert at timing a finish than Mikeal Barzelona unfffnnnnbelievable he was standing erect in his irons on the post oh what a beauty ...only a kid wud hav d audacity & also guts 2 do it..one commemtr said tha tif he was a second out it wud hav been a dead heat, man if he was a second out he wud not even b in d frame ! d kids a genius...racn needs guys like him 2 energise d sport.. people wud go a long way 2 c Barza n action

  • I won £200 on this race, saw a site tipping Pour Moi and offering a £25 free bet so I thought I would it have a go.. I was well happy when it won. I don't have site link but search for "tipped for glory" in google and the link should come up.

  • so much for reliable man eh gberet? meandre, and seville both ahead of him in gpdp. I think that the Derby was a fantastic race. Treasure beach franked the form by beating carlton house again in irish Derby. Pour moi looks a very very good horse, but if he loses the Arc, then there will be no shame in defeat. The flat season has been so strong this year that any of the top dogs could win. Epic few races before then though! King George VI and Sussex stakes. SNA & Frankel double POUR MOI!!!

  • @Pillian, When I'm wrong, I certainly don't mind saying so. I guess I thought too much of Reliable Man's chances in the Grand Prix De Paris. I also like St Nicholas Abbey's chances of winning the King George. But I think Canford Cliffs will win the Sussex.

  • I loved this years Derby because in the past few years it was too elitist! This year, horses entered with no real chances. I mean, come on, Marhaba Malyoon and Castlemorris King couldnt even win a maiden, let alone the Derby.

  • Pour moi's biggest danger in the Arc is the former Aussie champ in So You Think. SYT like most Aussie horses has great acceleration and is a topline sit sprint horse. SYT easily disposed of workforce in the eclipse stakes and even though many say workforce will show his best over 12 furlongs, I feel SYT will still run over the top of WF in the Arc. As for Pour Moi his derby win didn't look all that special as the field didn't really have any topline proven performers that would be consider grea

  • Never said he'd win it but I wouldnt be surprised if he did. He's a horse with gears who stays coming all the time. The long straight in longchamp will suit him. I just said it looks a good arc this year. Which it does.

  • how can you say pour moi will win the arc when the only thing he did is beat a average derby when there is better 4 year olds with proven ability

  • This years arc looks like the best renewal in years, pour moi, so you think, and sarafina looks impressive too. Probably the best arc since 97

  • I think it's very fair to say that Treasure Beach ended up being a much better horse than many of the "so-called experts" gave him credit for being. If history has taught us anything, it's that only very special 3yr.old colt's win both the Epsom and Irish Derbies, and Treasure Beach came within a whisker of doing just that.

  • Not a surprise to me at all that Treasure Beach won the Irish Derby. He had the most proven 12f form of any horse in the field, IMO. If Barzelona mistimes his ride in this race by even a second, we're looking at a dual Derby winner in Treasure Beach. I said previously that I felt time would prove Carlton House a better horse over 10f than 12f, and I didn't see anything out of him at the Curragh to make me think any differently? No excuses for him. Seville really ran much better this time, though

  • Por Moi will win the Prix de l'Arc de Triumph this year.

    4/1 is a great ante-post wager.

Only worry would be injury or apocalypse.

  • @Bax7a Don't forget Reliable Man Bax7a, you fool.

  • anyone counted how many times tb got hit there camera angle don't help much

i counted 18 times wonder if that has left its mark for today derby?...native khan still look so green in his head carriage he just seem to go forward then was not really giving much attendance to jm in saddle different improvement in him ground should suit.ch was looking to lung more the rail there wonder if curragh will suit aswell for him today ryan rode him into race like best horse there

  • It wouldn't at all surprise me to see Memphis Tennessee improve upon this effort at Epsom at the Curragh in this year's Irish Derby. This colt looks to be coming into his own in his run's in the Derrinstown Derby Trial, and in this race as well. I'd also say that Treasure Beach will prove a difficult foe once again at the Curragh. I'm not really certain why O'Brien pulled Recital out of the Irish Derby? But my hunch is that he might send him to Longchamp for the Grand Prix De Paris instead?

  • it was intresting listening to john gosden last week saying that pour moi would have won by 5 lengths on a flatter track .

  • Great way to win a race!

  • recital for the irish derby

  • theres the freeze frame:)

  • what a victory well done FRANCE !!! " c'est pour moi" frenchie win the epsom derby !!!! nice race best horse

    :

  • Having thought about this for a few days, I've decided that I don't trust this form one bit.

The pace horses were given far too much leeway (AGAIN!), lots of bumping and boring, and a messy blanket finish.

The last time we had a finish like this was in 2006- and the form of that race turned out to be completely misleading.

  • Any horse who comes from that far off the pace to win a Derby is undoubtedly top-class.

Dancing Brave just failed, Lammtarra made it from closer to pace.

Pour Moi should be backed with confidence for the Arc. Particularly with Msr Fabre in charge.

Agree with the NO DONKEYS post. The Belmont winner wasn't allowed in the Kentucky Derby due to inadequate earnings. A similar qualification should rule at Epsom. Black Type form or Prize Money.

  • Foolish though I am, I still think Henry Cecil would've had a legit shot in this race if he had chosen to run World Domination. Just because he got out-paced over 10f in the Dante, wouldn't have put me off backing him over 12f in the Derby. He looked better at Newbury over 12f than he did at York over 10f anyway. What did we really learn from the Dante? Seville can stay 10f, but not 12f. Carlton House stays both, but looks like a stiff 10f suites him better than 12f does. TJMO.

  • What a run from pOIR mOI

  • Once upon no time & out

    N'advint qu'ellipse de pur somme

    Pour Moi s'abolirait du doute

    Planant au poteau Prix d'Epsom

  • When will someone eventually BAN horses from the Derby who have absolutely NO CHANCE of winning. Horses should have a minimum handicap rating and put an end to the HERE FOR THE DAY donkeys who do nothing for the prestige of the race but to tarnish it!!! The winner is a good horse and Carlton House will have his day with different tactics.Perhaps not a vintage Derby tho as they finished all in a heap.

  • @Lucasimo1000, I think Carlton House is still a really nice looking 3yr.old. But I believe a stiffly run 10f suites him better than 12f does. Which is not unusual for the offspring of Street Cry.

  • i was very impressed by st nicholas abbey on friday , a pity he wont be facing pour moi in the king george that would have been really interesting

  • @Mr75littlebay, I agree. Would love to see SNA and Pour Moi in the King George field together!! But barring SNA running a really disappointing King George, it's likely we'll see both of them at Longchamp together in the Arc De Triomphe field. Personally, I'm really happy to see SNA coming back around into a career best form again. I've always felt he was horse with a world of potential that got sent to the English 2000 Guineas before he was ready for that race. Which set him back a lot.

  • sadler's wells grandsons are classics predators. ive check some classic winners in the south, they well all related to sadler's wells

  • @jockles555 THE BEST HIRSE WAS 1ST OBVIOUSLY

  • What would of happened if the French horse had lost by a nose? Guillotine for the silly french boy I presume

  • Horray! I didn't lose (we were sound asleep, in the U.S.).

I love that scene at 2:42 where all of the Pour Moi connections go crazy & run out on the field.

Imagine how foolish they'd look if that premature standing up by the jockey had cost them the rac!e!

  • Was dissapointed with BBC'S coverage. Was pretty much all about CH.Excuse after excuse. If it was anyone else's horse i doubt it would have got as much attention.Wonder would the winner get 2m?He did take a while to get going.

  • dis was a great race nd i am currently in the process of setting up a new website for racing fanatics..please visit it if u av time to spare bcaus i dont want to continue wit it if i see there is no interest...please sign da guestbook so i know how many visited..thank you..my site is gotheraces.webstart.com please visit thank you :)

  • littlebay actually cant you read i love horses83 and i have followed horse racing a lot longer than you and this was not a vintage derby , so shove it where the sun dont shine before you start throwing childish insults !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I couldn't believe it when I read on Racing Post's web-site that bookmaker's have already made Pour Moi the tentative favorite for this year's Arc De Triomphe? Pour Moi is a better than average 3yr.old colt that ran a terrific race at Epsom. But lug this colt into the same class or ahead of horses like SYT, WF, SNA, Behkabad, or Sarafina is ludicrous, IMO. Pour Moi can't and won't beat those types in the Arc. I'm not even sure he'd win the Derby again if it was run again tomorrow? TJMO.

  • @GBeret83

I used to find your analysis very interesting.

But this time I really don't share your thinking about Pour Moi value.

Andre Fabre never speaks to say nothing. You heard his feelings when he said that Pour Moi will improve considerably and that he has MORE speed than Peintre Celebre one of the best horses of all time 1997 Arc winner with the Record Time of the Race.

In next October, be sure my friend that Fabre will prepare Pour Moi to beat average horses which are WF or Behkabad.

  • @MandrakeTM, Just because I don't agree with your opinion about Pour Moi doesn't mean that I don't respect your opinion? I agree that Andre Fabre is a master trainer. One of the best in all of Europe. I also agree that he very rarely makes comments about his horses. I think Pour Moi ran a great race at Epsom, and got a great ride from young Barzelona. That said, there's a world of difference in beating Treasure Beach and Carlton House than there is trying to beat a SYT, SNA, or a Sarafina? TJMO.

  • @GBeret83 It is probably informed by the disproportionate number of three year old to have won the race. In fact, only 2 horses older than 4 have won in the past half century. 33 of the 50 winners have been three year olds. 80% of the winners over the past decade have been 3yos. All you need do is find the best three year old and you are ha;f way to the pay out window. I do agree that this bloke is nowhere near as good as Workforce was last year. That was a colossal perfromance.

  • @SvendBosanvovski, don't get me wrong, I think Pour Moi ran a fantastic race at Epsom, and he got an excellent ride from young Barzelona. Pour Moi me go on to prove me 110% wrong about him? For Andre Fabre to have been talking him up tells me he's a great prospect. I'm just saying that what I saw out of Pour Moi in the Epsom Derby, IMO, is not strong enough form to beat horses like WF, SYT, SNA, Sarafina, or Behkabad at Longchamp. I may be prove wrong? But I'll have to see him do it first?

  • @GBeret83 I wasn't disagreeing with your assessment. And don't leave the Japanese out of Arc calculations. They are, as you know, very keen to win the race and every year produce some of the best middle distance horses in the World.

  • @mr75littlebaby, you are talking out of your arse...flattered him, he was stuck at the back the whole race and still have the ability to push all the way up for the win, you obviously have the a brain the size that your name would suggest

  • yea winning the Derby would give me an erection too.

  • Also, this race is just another confirmation of the superiority of Frankel, with TB 2nd by a head who was bt 11L by frankel last season.

It is a shame we will most likely never see Frankel over this longer trip...

  • Not the greatest run classic ever, but a good race to watch nonetheless.

I thought pour moi looked a great chance on the book before the race, but i sided with £25 e/w on Treasure Beach at 25/1!!! So close to a massive win!

  • i think the winner was flattered it wasnt that much of a finish if he is so brilliant why is he 5 to i for the arc and not much shorter ?

  • westlife2266 go and play in traffic and leave this stuff to the grown ups

  • Amazing come from behind win.

  • The biggest roar of silence ever to greet a Derby winner. It reminded me of the deathly hush that welcomed home Norton's Coin to his CGC victory.

  • "Erect in his Irons".......thats what she said

  • fuck the queen

  • The best horse won.

  • wonder if carlton house hadnt lost a shoe 1.5 furlongs out if the result wouldent have been different i think CH would have won at 2 furlongs out pour oi was 5 lengths behind i dont think he would have made the ground up on CH if he didnt lose a shoe

  • Good horse but will get a thorough examination in the Arc.

Seville was a big disappointment for me.

Best outside ante-post bet for the Arc is NATHANIEL. They are waiting for cut in the ground and he is closely matched with Treasure Beach- he could go close at massive ante-post odds.

  • @forsoup fuck up

  • @forsoup words of wisdom

  • Surely Pour Moi will win the Arc - where coming with a late rattle will suit as the going will be good at best, Pour Moi would murder the ledger on that evidence. At least he got third unlike Frankie in the coronation cup

  • saw it in bookies nobody seemed very excited perhaps not a vintage derby, the queens horse a bit one paced maybe a leger horse ?

  • i did my own review of race last night and if cd had not change his wip hand and kept driving tb instead of drifting to rail in last half furlong he may well had won on the nod mb is a lucky boy pm brilliant run down the outside can not nock the horse.and well done mr farbe going to be interesting arc if all main players stay sound and turn up

  • Absolutely fantastic race ...The best I av seen in a verry long time ...The jockey is gonna be a star!!! xxx

  • best race ever what a horse the frog timed it to perfection stood up only a frenchman brill

  • @MrBucksong Totally agree... I had £50 on the winner. I have watched it 3 times, and I still can't beleive he made so much ground.. with a furlong and a half to go he was at least 10 lengths downs.. even with under a furlong to go.. you think no way.. but he nicks it on the line.. get in there

  • well i thought ryan moore looked really nervous sitting in the stalls just my observation thats all.and whats wrong with celebrating before the line? he won it and knew he did. cheeeky haha.

  • C/H just wasnt good enough, i thought the shy-man had more class, his F-word burst was out of annoyance, but unwarranted - the race is 12f long, for 11.75f, the winner (and better horse) was BEHIND C/H, so you had to go wide ryan, so what, P/M followed you mate ! - he went as long a way round as you did ! - the speed the french beast unleashed was Frankel like - bottom line, best horse won, no moaning ryan, your mate wasnt up to it - P/M was, horse and jockey have a great future (until stud !)

  • Jockey should be fined and suspended for a month for that effort on the post

  • @Fatkidshanklin

    @Fatkidshanklin

Well maybe it's funny, but I just repeated an interview from Goldikova's trainer Freddy Head.

And I think he is a humble specialist.

    equidia.fr/Articles/News/News-hippiques/Je-n-ai-pas-ete-emballe-par-Canford-Cliffs

  • A mile is an extrem limit for Frankel. He is a real 7f horse.

In this derby he should have finish at 10 lengths of the winner.

At this point Goldikova will beat him easier than against Canford Cliffs.

  • @MandrakeTM I agree with you 100%

  • really enjoyed this race but

how would frankel have faired in this race ?

i believe he could have won it. an opportunity missed.

bad decision not to run imo.

he beat treasure beach 1o lengths in the royal lodge last year. beat nathaniel on his debut, and beat native khan further in the guineas, than he was beaten here.

obviously you wouldnt make the running over 12f, but his class, and form, would have made him the clear pick.

  • What a horse ! What a jockey ! What a trainer !

  • from last 2 first in the derby, amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It appears to me that the Chester Vase and Derrinstown Derby Trial form ended up looking as strong as the Dante form did in the Derby. Treasure Beach ran a cracker, which now really makes me wonder how well Nathaniel would've done today if Gosden hadn't taken him out of the field? Because I feel that Nathaniel would reverse the form with Treasure Beach over 12f if they ever met again? TJMO.

  • What a brave jockey

  • From now on, when Andre Fabre speaks, I guess more people should listen. To include myself!! Fabre's never been in the habit of making off the cuff comments about his horses. So when he made the statement that he did last week about Pour Moi, it's quite obvious now that the statement was huge!! You really have to give it up for young Mikel Barzalona, too. 19yrs.old, and this kid has been out-riding even the best, most seasoned jockey's in the UK. Quite well done, young man!!

  • @GBeret83 might be best trainer in Yourope but A Royer Dupre best in france, he doesnt muck about with bullshit either. Baraan beat pour Moi, baraan got beat by reliable man, Bubble gum holds the form up = French will win the Arc but which won? G Mosse best jock, knows all the horse, a french Piggott. Whom will be chosen by the grate man. Reliable or a green Aga Khan. Beret, you need to watch some more then come back wiv a new cliche i mean the answer. merci.

  • @ballotboxman, Of the French horses likely for the Arc De Triomphe this year, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the filly, Sarafina, improve on her 3rd place finish in the race last year? She really is a quality filly for sure.

  • @GBeret83 Aye good but not good enough. Aga Khan holding the cards except Reliable Man who they say going to King George therefore not likely the arc. They're expecting to win them both. Some good horses this year, better than this time last year. Bekhabad still a puzzler sure they think he could do it, well they'll need Mosse up this time - got a daft ride last year in the muck.

  • @ballotboxman, What I saw in the Epsom Derby and the Prix Du Jockey Club, the French definitely seem to have the better middle distance 3yr.old's this season. Roderic O'Connor or Casamento weren't anywhere close at Chantilly in the Prix Du Jockey Club, and Pouir Moi beat's what are supposed to be the best of the Irish and UK 3yr.old's at Epsom.
