Oh then I guessed right, but I think it must be inu, not ino. At least that's how I usually saw it written. There's this police dog race, called Akita Inu, which I think was also the famous dog who waited for his master years on end every day at the train station in central Tokyo. Where there is now a bronze statue of him.
